John Edward (Ed) McKenna
The death of John Edward (Ed) McKenna occurred unexpectedly on March 31, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on Prince Edward Island he was the son of the late James and Bertha (Warren) McKenna. He was the Operations Manager with Maritime Moving and Storage where he had been employed for the last 37 years. He was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his son James E. and his wife Trenia of Saint John, his daughter Mary Ann McKenna of Saint John, his brothers Earl and his wife Geraldine McKenna of Prince Edward Island, Richard McKenna of Calgary, ALBT, his sister Mary and her husband Donnie Blacquiere of Calgary, ALBT, his granddaughters Allison Anna and Abigail (Abby), his mother-in-law Mary E. Doiron, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Ann McKenna.
Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 5, 2002, at 11:00 AM, from St. Joachim’s Church. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
Margaret Eleanor (Joyce) Myles
1910 - 2002
The death of Mrs. Margaret Eleanor (Joyce) Myles, wife of the late Ralph B. Myles, of Rocmaura Nursing Home, formerly of 55 Smythe Street, Saint John, occurred on Monday, March 25, 2002 at her residence. Born on March 19, 1910, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jessie (Udell) Joyce. Margaret had lived many years in Moncton and Sussex. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, Saint John, and had been a member of the Anglican Church in both Moncton and Sussex. She was the founding President of John Alexander Club of St. George’s Church, Moncton. She was involved with the IODE, Valcartier Chapter, Saint John, Royal Chapter, Sussex, and was Past Regent of IODE, Bonar Law Chapter, Moncton. Margaret was Past-President of both CNIB, Moncton, and Local Council of Women, Moncton. She was an honourary member of the Sea Gulls of Harbourside Apartments, Smythe Street. She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Joyce (John) Cook of Saint John, two grandchildren, Beverly Margaret (Allan) McAlpine and Paul E. Cook (Dr. Corrina Golding), and two great-granddaughters, Emily and Lauren Cook. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Ralph, and four sisters.
By request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2002 at 11:00 AM from Trinity Anglican Church, Charlotte Street, Saint John, and a reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in the spring at Trinity Church Burial Ground, Sussex Corner, NB. Remembrances to Trinity Anglican Church (Saint John), Rocmaura Foundation, or to Hospice of Saint John Inc., would be appreciated. (Northrup) (Beckingham), Muriel Irene (Becky) Pitt
The death of Mrs. Becky Pitt of Bonita Ave. Saint John, NB occurred at her residence on Wednesday March 27, 2002. Born in Saint John, to Frederick and Gertrude Beckingham she was a mother to Lynn Pierce (Gary Cook) Stanley, NB and Robert J. Northrup, NS. She is also survived by her sister Roberta Barrett of Saint John and her grandchildren; Terri-Lyn, Charissa, Veronica, Fredrina and Kevin. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband Robert Northrup and her brother Ronald Beckingham.
Becky was active with the P.C. Branch Association, was a member for 40 years of the Royal Canadian Legion and served as President of the RCL Ladies Auxiliary
She was proprietor for more than 30 years in the Saint John City Market at R.E. Wilson Fish Ltd. Becky was an avid lover of horses and was active with the Maritime Harness Racing Association. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida. Until only recently she drove solo the whole distance from her summer home to her winter one.

Wanda Geraldine Tonning
The death of Mrs. Wanda G. Tonning, of Rothesay, NB, wife of Dr. Henrik O. Tonning occurred on Tuesday, April 09, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born at Bristol, NB, daughter of the late Herman U. and Veyda (Davis) Giberson.
Wanda graduated from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. During the War she was an active volunteer with the Red Cross. She was a member of St. Paul’s Valley Church and was a member of the Needlework Society, and served as chairperson of the Decorating and Flower Committee for many years. Wanda was also a member of the Union Club and Riverside Golf and Country Club.
She is survived by her husband, her two sons, Henrik G. Tonning (Jean) Rothesay, NB, and Stephen Tonning, Memphis, TN as well as her grandchildren; James R., Kare A. and Henrik F. Tonning, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Graydon.

Cecil Henry Jones
The death of Cecil Henry Jones, husband of Elsie Belle (Milley) Jones, occurred on September 8, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Golden Grove he was the son of the late Leonard and Dorothy Mae (Thompson) Jones. He was employed as a sales representative for Downey Ford and was proprietor of Jones Variety and Fundy Groceteria. He enjoyed the family summer cottage at Otter Lake.
Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Cecil Jones and his wife Donna of Fredericton, Bruce Jones and his wife Judith of Prince William, NB, Ronald (Fred) Jones and his wife Julie of Rothesay, Ian Jones and his wife Collette of Quispamsis, his daughter Louise Simpson of Quispamsis, his brother Hoyt Jones and his wife Audrey of Saint John, his grandchildren Ryan, Heidi, Stephanie, Chris, Brittany, Luke, Alex, Brett and Maggie, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Theodore, Wendell, Raymond and Ralph and his sister Dorothy Moore.

Donald Ralph Holyoke
Mr. Donald Ralph Holyoke of Saint John, beloved husband of Hilda P. (Shuve) Holyoke, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, September 26, 2002, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Woodstock, NB, he was the son of the late William Ralph and Grace (Smalley) Holyoke.
Following his graduation from the University of New Brunswick with an Engineering degree in 1946, Donald was employed with NB Tel for over 43 years and retired in 1985. He was an avid stamp collector, an NB Tel Pioneer, a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, a founding member of the 174 Civilian Rifle Association, a senior member of the Saint John Fish and Game Association, and an instructor with the Canadian Power Squadron. Don loved the peace and serenity of the River.
Besides his wife of 50 years, Hilda, he is survived by two daughters, Margaret A. Holburn of Saint John and Carolyn S. Holyoke of Ottawa, currently assigned to the Canadian High Commission in Kingston, Jamaica, one son, Wm. Ralph Holyoke (Karen) of Saint John, two grandchildren, whom he adored, Jennifer and Scott Holburn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 1:00 PM from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Extra Mural Hospital Foundation, Hospice of Saint John Inc., or the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated.
Pearl Margaret (Giggey) Donahue
The death of Pearl Margaret (Giggey) Donahue of Exmouth St, wife of the late Charles B. Donahue, occurred on October 4, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Hampton she was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Noddin) Giggey. Pearl was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, the Tabernacle Missionary Circle. She resided in Connecticut, USA from 1947 until 1972 when she moved to Saint John. She is survived by special friend Roy Murphy, several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by one brother Wilbert Giggey and one sister Mildred MacFadyen.

Sterling David Blackmore
The death of Sterling David Blackmore, of Abbotsford, BC, occurred unexpectedly on Friday, September 6, 2002, in Abbotsford, BC.
Sterling is survived by his mother, Glenna R. (Cody) Munro (Keith) of Saint John, his father, George Blackmore (Catherine) of Miramichi City, two sons, Owen and Jakob, one daughter, Jessica, one brother, Bill Blackmore (Karen) of Connecticut , one nephew, Lucas, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

William (Bill) Emery Dykeman
The death of William (Bill) Emery Dykeman, husband of C. Jeanne (Belyea) Dykeman, occurred on September 28, 2002, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Ronald W. and Alice (O’Malley) Dykeman. He was an accountant having worked for various firms in the Greater Saint John Area during his career. He was a well known sportsman having played baseball, basketball and softball. He was a member of Portland United Church and the United Commercial Traveler’s Council # 755. He will be missed by all who know and loved him. Besides his wife he is survived by his children Lynn and her husband Dan Stackhouse of Grand Bay-Westfield, Cyndy and her husband Jim Anderson of Fredericton, Steven and his wife Leslie of Burlington, ON, his sisters Betty Vandenberg of Halifax, NS, Shirley and her husband Ken Margeson of Moncton, his brothers Robert Dykeman of Saint John, David Dykeman and his wife Monique of Oakville, ON, Earle Dykeman of Saint John, his grandchildren Jennifer, Heather, Alisson, Gavin, his five great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Ronald Dykeman.

The death of Jean Trites (Conley), wife of the late Evan Trites, occurred peacefully on September 28, 2002, at her residence. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Sadie Conley. She was a member of the Union Club, the Riverside Country Club, and St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothesay. She is survived by her sons Michael A. Trites and his wife Evelyn of Toronto, ON, Stephen A. Trites and his wife Nancy of Riverview, NB, her grandson Paul A. Trites of Toronto, ON, and several nieces and nephews.
