STOYLES, Wm. Kenneth (Bill) – Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center on October 8, 2007 at the age of 88. Predeceased by wives Rose (Best) and Dorothy (Arns), parents Jordan and Ida Stoyles, brother Eric and sister Phoebe Blanche. Leaving to mourn is his son Gary and wife Jeannette; three grandchildren: Tina, Tammy and Glen; also one sister Ada Balkema (Roger Imbler) residing in Reedsport, Oregon, US. Also a large number of relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from The Carnell Memorial Chapel. SWEENEY, Selina M. (nee Brewer) – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Selina Sweeney, age 66 years, at the Placentia Health Centre on Tuesday, October 9, 2007. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Agnes Brewer and father-in-law Patrick Sweeney. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 47 years, Leonard; a very special mother-in-law Ann (Nanny); daughters: Marion King (Kenneth), Agnes King (Dave), Diane Mayer (Duane); sons: Leonard, Kenneth (Leone), Albert (Lana); thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers: Pat Brewer (Lilian), Jerome Brewer (Mary Agnes) and sister Genevieve Hepditch; brothers-in-law Dan Sweeney, Ted Sweeney (Marie) and Ronnie Sweeney (Shirley); sisters-in-law: Eliza Martin (Pad), Mary Barron (Billy), Hilda Whittle (Joe), Ann Sweeney (Peter), Linda Murphy (Jim) and a very special friend Aunt Kay. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Coombs Funeral Home on Wednesday 4-10 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia, 11 a.m. on Friday, October 12th. GOLDSWORTHY, Mildred – Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, Mildred Goldsworthy of Clarenville, aged 84 years. Predeceased by her husband Reginald; daughter Ruby Riche and sister Mable Piercey. Left with fond and loving memories, her children: Herb (Lorraine) of Clarenville, Peggy MacDonald of Clarenville, Judy Green (Geoff) of Clarenville; son-in-law Len Riche of Grand Falls-Windsor; sister-in-law Frances Morris of St. John’s; ten grandchildren: Christal (Derrick) Palmer, Dana (Bruce) Price, Heather (Russell) Brown, Neil (Lorraine) Goldsworthy, Roxanne (Chris) Bailey, Tony Blackmore, Nancy (Neil) Hossack, Susan (Chris) Pass, Gail (Roger) Briffett, Adam (Neva Fudge) Green; great-grandchildren: Christopher, Justin, Natasha, Stephanie, Kayla, Rebecca, Daniel, Kennedy, Ben, Sam, Willow, Josh, Erin, Brandon, Naya and a large circle of relatives and friends. MAUNDER, Leslie Campbell (Cam) – World War II Veteran, Royal Navy (1940-1946) . Passed peacefully away at the Leonard A. Miller Centre on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, Cam Maunder, age 85. Predeceased by his parents, Fred and Ellen Maunder and brother Harry. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 62 years, Sheila; son Brian (Eleanor), Barrie, ON; daughters: Eileen Walsh (Bob), Ottawa and Lesley McMullen (Gary), Amherst, NS; grandchildren: Christopher, Janiece, Natasha Chin (Mario), Michelle Cole (Andrew), Heather Haines (Mike), John; and great-grandchild Sophia Cole; sister Ruth Marshall (Cyril), Brockville, ON; brother Ivan (Patricia), St. John’s; sister-in-law Ellie Maunder, St. John’s; three special cousins residing in England and Holland and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Veterans Affairs Canada staff, Tender Loving Care nursing staff, special care giver Ray; special nurses: Ann and Debra; and special nurses at the Palliative Care Unit. PENNEY, Albert Nelson – Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, August 21, 2007, Albert Nelson Penney, aged 80 years. Predeceased by wife Jean (Howell) . Left with fond and loving memories are three sons: Dave and wife Irene, Guy and wife Valerie and Ron; grandchildren: David and wife Nancy, Karen and husband Paul Didham and Jason, Krista and Justin, Matthew, Mark and Megan and their mother Colleen; great-grandchildren: Jessie, Claire and Simon; brother Guy and wife Margaret; niece Elizabeth and husband Jeff; as well as other relatives and friends. Albert was a long-time employee of CNR and a member of the Masonic Order. SMITH, Leonard – Received into God’s merciful keeping on August 22, 2007, Leonard Smith, beloved husband of the Rev'd. Evelyn Smith. His family gives God thanks for his kind and gentle life. His three children are Michelle O’Grady, St. John’s, Michael (Terri) Smith, Beauval, Sask. and Mitchell (Alana) Smith of Gander. He leaves four grandchildren: Timothy O’Grady, Tyler and Megan Smith and Jeremy Gilbert; one sister, Martha Follett of Labrador City; brother George (Joan) Smith of Heart’s Content; sister-in-law Mary (Chesley Warren) of St. John’s and many friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Levi and Margaret Smith of New Perlican; brother William; sisters: Louise (Willis Pinhorn) and Gertrude (Carl Freeman) . The family offers special thanks to Dr. Nigel Duguid and the nursing staff of St. Clare’s Coronary Care Unit for the exceptional medical and gentle care which they provided. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday, August 23rd from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with cremation to follow. In thanksgiving for his life the Funeral Eucharist will take place from St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, St. Clare Avenue on Saturday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev’d. Chris Snow officiating. Interment to take place at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
