Shillington, Hon. Ned
New Democrat MLA, Regina Northeast

Ned Shillington was born and raised on a farm in the Caron district , just west of Moose Jaw. He attended high school in Moose Jaw, and earned Arts and Law Degrees from the University of Saskatchewan. Mr. Shillington practised law in Regina.

He was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in 1975, was re-elected in 1978, 1982, 1986, 1991 and 1995. He represents the Regina Northeast constituency and is in his twentieth consecutive year as an MLA.

Mr. Shillington served as Minister of Co-operatives, Education, and Culture in the Allan Blakeney government. He also served as the caucus critic for Finance prior to his appointment to the Romanow Cabinet.

On March 23, 1992, Ned Shillington was appointed to Cabinet as Minister of Crown Investments and Associate Minister of Finance. On September 29, 1992, Mr. Shillington was appointed Minister of Labour. On February 3, 1995 he was re-appointed Minister of Crown Investments and Associate Minister of Finance. He was Minister of Intergovernmental Relations from November, 1995 to June, 1997. He has been Provincial Secretary since his appointment to that position on November 22, 1995.

Ned and his wife, Sonia, have two children.
