Moe K. Amery was born on September 20, 1954. He obtained his primary education in Lebanon and moved to Canada in 1973 where he attended and graduated from Victoria Composite High School in Edmonton. Moe attended the University of Alberta, General Studies faculty from 1975-1977 and then attended the University of Calgary for Real Estate and Appraisal Courses. He enjoyed a very successful career in the real estate industry until his election as the MLA for Calgary-East on June 15, 1993. Moe was re-elected to a second term on the March 11, 1997.
In addition to his regular MLA responsibilities, Mr. Amery serves as a member of : Standing Policy Committee on Community Services; Environmental Protection Advisory Committee (Chair); Private Bills Committee (Vice Chair); Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund Committee; Glenbow-Museum Advisory Committee; MLA Implementation Team on the Future Selection of RHA Members; MLA Representative on the City of Calgary's World Fair 2005 Bid; Standing Policy Committee on Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection; Standing Committee on Public Accounts.
Amery has been involved with many community organizations, including the Forest Lawn Business and Industrial Association, the Calgary East Jaycees and the Calgary East Rotary Club.
Moe is married to Mary and they have four children: Mickey, Lila, Lena and Laura. The Amerys live in the Southeast community of Southview in the constituency of Calgary-East.
