Haley, Carol
Progressive Conservative MLA, Airdrie-Rocky View
Carol Haley was born in Edmonton September 18, 1951. She lives in Airdrie with her two sons Jason and Jeff. Carol graduated from Edwin Parr Composite High School in Athabasca. She has taken accounting, economics and law, through the R.I.A. program. Prior to being elected to the Alberta Legislature in 1993, Ms. Haley owned and operated her own small business, Carol Haley Consulting Inc., publishing a newsletter entitled "A Guide to Healthcare in Alberta," and acting as a Meeting Facilitator.
Ms. Haley also has extensive agricultural experience, as the co-owner of two companies: Westar Farms Ltd., a cattle operation, from 1974 to 1989 and Palliser Grain Co. Ltd. from 1980 to 1989.
Carol's community work has included committee work as a Board Member of the Calgary General Hospital as: Chairman, Finance Audit and Human Resources; Member, Ethics Committee; Member, Calgary Regional Council. As a Board Member of the Alberta Healthcare Association, Carol served as: Chairman, Human Resources Committee; Member, Finance Committee; Chairman, Convention Committee, and Member of the Education Sub-Committee. She has also been a Board Member of the Canadian Hospital Association.
Ms. Haley was appointed Chairman of the Standing Policy Committee on Jobs and the Economy on March 26, 1997. Along with this appointment, Carol serves as vice chair of the Legislative Review Committee. Since becoming an MLA in June 1993, Carol has served as: Chairman, Standing Policy Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development; Chairman, Standing Policy Committee on Community Services; Deputy Whip, Government Caucus; Chairman, Deregulation Task Force; Member, Heritage Savings Trust Fund Committee; Ex-officio, MLA/AMA Discussion Group; Member, Grazing Reserves Review Committee; Member, Public Accounts Committee; Member, Member Services Committee; Member, Health Services Funding Advisory Committee.
