Jeanette Alberta "Jenny" Hartlen
HARTLEN, Jeanette Alberta "Jenny" - 95, Porters Lake, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 8, 2002, in The Birches Nursing Home, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born September 22, 1907, in Oyster Pond, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Ada (Wournell) Mitchell.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jenny is survived by daughters, Joan Shaxon, Halifax; Barbara (Martin) Daye, Porters Lake; sons, Reginald, Gerald, Halifax; Lloyd (Barbara), Dartmouth; sister, Erma Armsworthy, Halifax; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; daughter, Edna Hartlen; son, Russell Hartlen; several sisters and brothers.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, Rev. Jennifer Power officiating. Reception immediately following in Oceanview Lounge of Atlantic Funeral Home. Interment in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, 3720 Windsor St., Halifax. Family flowers only.

Harold Jr. "Buddy" Cain
CAIN, Harold Jr. "Buddy" - 69, Cain Street, North Preston, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 6, 2002, at home. Born July 17, 1933, in North Preston, he was a son of the late Harold and Mildred (Downey) Cain.
He was a member of Saint Thomas United Baptist Church and also a member of the First Baptist Church Men's Group, Toronto. He was employed with Budget Car Rental for 44 years, retiring in 1998.
Harold is survived by his companion, Lillian Martin; daughters, Linda (Roderick), Collette, North Preston; Coreen, Richmond Hill, Ont.; Sandy, Dartmouth; sons, Howard (Debra), North Preston; William "NuNu" (Donna), wife, Fay, East Preston; Donnie (Shawna), Dartmouth; Danny, North Preston; Vincent, Toronto; Ross, Vancouver; Bobby (Darlene), New Minas; sisters, Ruby (Thomas), Myrna, Viola, Vivian, all of North Preston; Shirley (Clary), Toronto; brothers, Wiley (Lillian), Elmer (Opal), Lloyd (Lavice), Dartmouth; Glen (Nadine), Edward (Cora), Robert, North Preston; Merlin (Shirley), Toronto; 38 grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren; extended brother, Levi; uncle, Deacon Gordon Cain; good friend and aunt, Gladys Cain; godchildren, Mazie, Judy, Carolyn, Cindy; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Dorothy Posie; sister, Irene.
His remains are resting in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, with visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, St. Thomas Mens Brotherhood service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in Saint Thomas United Baptist Church, North Preston, Pastor Wallace Smith officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Stanley Lawrence Wright
WRIGHT, Stanley Lawrence - 94, Dartmouth, passed away on December 7, 2002, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Upper Stewiacke, he was a son of the late John and Minnie (Redden) Wright.
He worked at the Nova Scotia Hospital until his retirement. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by son, Robert Wright, Dartmouth; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Stella (Isnor) Wright; brothers, Clarence, Raymond, Angus and Wallace; sisters, Nellie, Florence and Christie.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Burial will be in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow in the funeral home.
Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
Arthur Ernest Mutch
MUTCH, Arthur Ernest - 89, passed away December 4, 2002, in Dartmouth General Hospital. He was a son of the late Edith and Ernest Mutch.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy.
Arthur was a 50 year member of the Masons, St. Marks Lodge 38, Halifax.
He is survived by sons, Bruce (Cathy), Dartmouth; daughter, Margaret (Robert) Horton, Courtenay, B.C.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Arthur was predeceased by sisters, Olive Parker, Vida Alison, both of New Brunswick.
Memorial service 10 a.m. Saturday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Interment to follow in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception will take place in the funeral home reception lounge.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia, War Amps or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
David Dennis Wade Brinton
BRINTON, David Dennis Wade - Passed away December 3, 2002, in IWK Health Centre. He was the son of Dennis and Chanelle.
He is survived by grandparents, Stephen and Marie Martin, Judy Nickerson; great-grandmothers, Vivian Nickerson and Frances Martin.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, Wade Nickerson; great-grandparents, David and Mary Brinton.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 9, in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville, Rev. Robert Chapman officiating.

Dorothy Elizabeth Surette
SURETTE, Dorothy Elizabeth - 68, Lower Sackville, died December 2, 2002, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Belle Isle, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Clements) Surette.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Dorothy loved to travel, enjoyed music and loved flowers. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her husband, Donald; daughters, Linda Snook (Clifford), Halifax; Thelma Parker (Jim) and Dorothy Ann Painting (Victor), both of Lower Sackville; sons, Donald Jr. (Sandra), Lower Sackville; Albert (Patricia), North Sydney; sisters, Thelma Brussard (Albert), Prospect; Marjorie Parrott (Roy), Bedford; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by son, Peter; brothers, Richard and Kevin Kent.
Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Thursday with funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, Rev. Wayne Higgins officiating. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
