CASSIDY, Aleida M.
CASSIDY, Aleida M. - 78, Masters Road, Moncton, passed away Monday, April 10, 2000, in the Moncton Hospital. Born in Hazel Hill, Guysborough County, Aleida was the daughter of the late Clifford and Anna (Spicer) Hawes. Aleida was a member of St. George's Anglican Church and St. Andrew's Anglican Church Ladies Guild. She graduated from Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Home Economics and was a member of the Mount Allison Alumna. She was made an Honorary life time member of the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation for her 30 years of volunteer work. She was a volunteer for The Friends of the Moncton Hospital and over the last several years donated her home made mittens, scarfs, blankets and various other material to local schools and organizations. Aleida will be sadly missed by her husband of 53 years, Roy Cassidy; daughters, Charlotte Steeves (Robb), Moncton; Lorena Shalala (Rick), Shediac; grandchildren, Jason, Tyler; great grandchildren, Justin, Paula. She was predeceased by brother, John. Resting in St. George's Anglican Church Chapel, Church and Queen Street, Moncton. Funeral service 2 p.m. today, April 12, in St. George's Anglican Church, Rev. David Titus officiating. Reception in the church hall following the service. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In Aleida's memory, donations to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Friends of the Moncton Hospital or memorial of your choice would be appreciated by her family. ARMSTRONG, Levi D. - 74, Canaan, Lunenburg Co., died April 11, 2000, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Windsor Road, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Elwood A. and Angeline E.(Armstrong) Armstrong. He was employed for 36 years as a mechanical fitter at HMC Dockyard, Halifax. Surviving are his wife, the former Frances E. Collicutt; daughter, Mia, at home; sons, Perry, Timberlea; Eric, Middle River Road; three grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Clyde; brothers, Bruce, Clark; sister, Dorothy; three children in infancy. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Funeral 2:30 p.m. Friday in the United Baptist Church, Canaan, Rev. Dan Green and Dr. M. Allen Gibson officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Family flowers only. HEIGHTON, Dorothy Anita - 88, Willow Lodge Home for Special Care, Tatamagouche, formerly of Mountain Road, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in the home. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Maria Douglas. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed her flower garden. She enjoyed knitting. She is survived by son, James (Ella), Mountain Road; daughters, Marjorie (Mrs. Alvin Heighton), Cape John; Mildred (Mrs. Aubrey Heighton), Cape John; Anna Heighton and her companion, Allister MacKenzie, Digby; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Allison; brothers, Victor and Austin. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today in MacLeod's Funeral Home, River John, from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Bruce Ward officiating. Burial in Mountain Road Cemetery. Born January 15, 1967, in Halifax, she was a daughter of proud parents, Marvin and Evelyn (Beals) Dixon. He was enrolled as a full-time student at UCCB and was an active member of AA, New Waterford Branch. Surviving are sons, Jim Dan, Campbell River, B.C.; Harry, Matthew, New Waterford; daughter, Kerrianne, New Waterford; sisters, Lynn McIsaac, New Waterford; Karen Sceviour, Lower Sackville; brothers, John Campbell River, B.C.; Paul, Calgary, Alta. RYDER, Nellie Frances - 73, Herring Cove Road, Halifax, passed away April 11, 2000, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Jollimore, she was a daughter of the late George and Jessie (Oakley) Powell. She was a member of the Emmanuel Anglican Church, Halifax. Surviving are son, Patrick, Halifax; daughters, Nancy (Mrs. Wayne Collier), Halifax; Linda, Deborah, both at home; Eileen (Mrs. John LeForte), Timberlea; brothers, Arthur, Herbert and Fred, all of Halifax; sisters, Eleanor (Mrs. Walter Brunt); Dorothy(Mrs. James Mahar), Halifax; grandchildren, Matthew, Megan and Andrew. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Alfred Joseph Ryder; brothers, Roy, John and Bill; sister, Gertrude. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Thursday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, in St. Margaret's of Scotland Anglican Church, Halifax, Cannon David Boston will officiate. Interment at a later date in Emmanuel Cemetery, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society. Following the church service there will be a reception in the church hall.

BARKHOUSE, Albert Lester - 73, Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home and formerly of Alexander Drive, Moncton, passed away in his residence on Tuesday, April 11, 2000, after a lengthy illness. Born in Sunny Brae, he was a son of the late Lester and Annie (MacKenzie) Barkhouse. Albert was retired from the Provincial Government Commerce and Technology Department. He was past president of the NB Institute of Chartered Accountants. A charter member of the Mount Royal United Church, the Moncton Kinsmen Club, K-40, Probus Club, Odd Fellows and the Masonic Lodge. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. Albert will be sadly missed by his wife, Doris (Smiley) Barkhouse; sons, Howard Lester Barkhouse and Gerald Albert Barkhouse (Phyllis), both of Moncton; and granddaughter, Carla Lynn Barkhouse. Resting in Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd., Moncton with visitation Thursday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Service in Mount Royal United Church, Friday April 14, 1:30 p.m., Rev. Garth Caseley officiating. Reception to follow. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton. JACK, William Donald - 74, Port Bickerton, Guysborough Co., died Monday, April 10, 2000, in St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke. Born in Port Bickerton, Guysborough Co., he was a son of the late William and Nettie (Kaiser) Jack. He taught in Isle Madam School from 1968-1972 and was a fisherman most of his life. He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Port Bickerton. Surviving are his wife, the former Connie Rudolph, Port Bickerton; sons, Myles (Wendy), Alberta; Ralph (Angela), Bruce (Rhonda) and Sandy (Peggy), all of Port Bickerton; daughters, Darla (Mrs. Stephen Richard), Port Bickerton; brother, Doug, Port Bickerton; sister, Amy Kaiser, Port Bickerton; grandchildren, Kurt, Tara, Beckey, Adrian, Andria, Dustin, Catlin, Coby, Holly and Hailey; great-grandson, Nathan; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Roy, Harold, George and Bruce. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, both in St. Paul's Anglican Church, Port Bickerton. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Port Bickerton. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, Country Harbour.
