d'ENTREMONT, Lillian Margaret - 71, Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle, formerly of West Pubnico, died April 8, 2000, in the home. Born in West Pubnico, she was a daughter of the late Ulysses and Ida (Amirault) d'Entremont. She was a member of the West Pubnico New Horizons Club and also of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 66 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter, Della Smith and her husband Michael, Port Clyde, Shelburne Co.; grandchildren, Shawn and Karine. She was predeceased by her husband, Josepha "Joe Kevin"; brothers, Elmer and Laurie. Visitation will be today from 9-10:30 a.m. in West Pubnico Funeral Home, Middle West Pubnico. Funeral will be 11 a.m. today, in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Middle West Pubnico, Rev. Gaston Ouellet officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to Nakile Home for Special Care, the West Pubnico Ambulance Service or charity of choice.

DIXON, Kimberley Ann
DIXON, Kimberley Ann - 33, Toronto, formerly of Nova Scotia, passed away April 8, 2000, in St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto. Born January 15, 1967, in Halifax, she was a daughter of proud parents, Marvin and Evelyn (Beals) Dixon. Kimberley will be sadly missed by her parents, her companion, Grant Woods, Toronto; sisters, Marilyn Dixon, North Preston; Lenora Dixon, Toronto; brother, Mardy Dixon, Toronto; adopted sister, Marilyn Downey, Toronto; adopted brothers, Merlin Cain, Toronto; Jason Downey, North Preston; niece, Tiara Dixon, North Preston; nephew, Damardi Dixon, Toronto; godson, Dasmen Dixon, North Preston; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation was held on Wednesday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Funeral service 2 p.m. today, in St. Thomas United Baptist Church, North Preston, Rev. Calvin Symonds officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Thomas United Baptist Church.

HOWARD, Douglas Eric
HOWARD, Douglas Eric - 48, Halifax, died suddenly at home, this past weekend. Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I. on October 11, 1951, he was a son of Lois C. (Reid) Howard, Halifax and the late G. Reginald Howard. He was a graduate of the Universities of Waterloo, Dalhousie and British Columbia. He is survived by sisters, Pamela L. McGrath, Halifax; Shelley A. Welsh, Lantz. He was predeceased by brother, David R. Howard. Cremation has taken place and a memorial and interment service will be held in Bay Fortune, P.E.I. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

GILLIS, Margaret Mary "Peggy" - 88, Long Point, Inverness Co., passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in Saint Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Long Point, she was a daughter of the late Willie D. and Mary Jess (MacDonald) Chisholm. She was a member of Stella Maris Parish, Creignish. She is survived by son, Glenn Gillis, Long Point; daughters, Donalda Gillis, Halifax; Barb (Chester) Yakey, Elliot Lake, Ont.; Phillis (Gordon) Fraser, London, Ont.; Jackie Gillingham, Dartmouth; sisters, Tena MacDonald, Halifax; Kaye Sampson, Dartmouth; Chris Naugler, Dartmouth; son-in-law, Duncan Hector Chisholm; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Don J. Gillis; son, Darryl Gillis and daughter Patricia Chisholm and granddaughter, Heather Yakey. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors today from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in Green's Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St., Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Stella Maris Church, Creignish, Rev. Hughie D. MacDonald officiating. Interment of cremains in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Judique and District Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of J. F. Greene Funeral Home Services Limited, 507 Bernard St., Port Hawkesbury.

McNABB, James Archibald
McNABB, James Archibald - 87, 99 Churchill Dr., New Glasgow, formerly of Trenton, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2000, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Trenton, he was a son of the late Robert and Roberta (Archibald) McNabb. He ran a general store in Trenton and later was a partner in Town and Country Electronics, New Glasgow for eight years. He was a life member and past master of Doric Masonic Lodge 91 and the first president of the Pictou County Amateur Radio Club. He was an adherent of First United Church, Trenton. He served two terms as mayor of Trenton where he lived until the last ten years. He was the first person to get a pilots license from The Trenton Airport. Surviving are his loving wife, the former Barbara Reid; sister, Elda (McNabb) MacKay, New Glasgow; nephew, Kent (Jane) MacKay, Saint John, N.B. He was predeceased by his nephew, Kirby (Jessie) MacKay, Ottawa. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday, in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton from where funeral service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m., Nancy Fraser officiating. Burial in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to First United Church, Trenton or a charity of choice.

BROWN, Kathleen J. - 82, Halifax, formerly of South Athol, died April 12, 2000. Born in Portslade, England, she was a daughter of the late Ephriam and Hettie (Pettett) Snelgrove. She was a member of the Open Bible Church, Amherst. She had held contract for the Rural Mail in Southampton-Athol area for 12 years before retiring in 1979. Surviving are son, Donald, Timberlea; brothers, Ronald, Enfield; Chesley, Hillsborough; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, M. Winston in 1998; brother, Leslie. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday, in Cumberland Memorial Chapel, Amherst, Pastor Keith Bruhmley officiating. Spring burial at a later date in Southampton Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Diabetic Association, Alzheimer Society or any charity.

KILBURN, Jessie Mary
KILBURN, Jessie Mary - 86, Westville Road, Pictou Co., died April 11, 2000, in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Essites) Budrick. She had been a homemaker most of her life. She was an aviatress, one of the first female flyers. She began flying bi-planes with the 13 member all female flying club, "Squadron of Death" in Akron, Ohio during the 1930's and later flew out of the Trenton Airport upon return to Pictou Co. She was an avid outdoors person, especially enjoyed fishing and camping. She was artistic and preferred painting with oil paints. Surviving are son, Jack, Westville Road; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Miles Kipling Kilburn; daughter in infancy; son, Kent; brother, Michael "Mickey"; half-sister, Alice Dolphin. Cremation has taken place. No visitation or service by request. Donations to The Salvation Army. Arrangements are entrusted to P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.

MacPHEE, Isobel
MacPHEE, Isobel - 85, formerly of Sydney, recently of Halifax, died in the Northwood Centre, Halifax on April 12, 2000. She was the youngest child of the late Daniel and Isabella (MacAskill) MacPhee, and the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was born and educated in Sydney and was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at Wrights' Home Furnishings where her sister, Jessie also worked. Isobel was a devoted, lifelong member of St. Andrew's United Church where she was for many years an active member of U.C.W. Unit 6. She was treasurer for an extended period of the "Junior Congregation" Sunday morning Sunday School classes. Isobel was an avid gardener, an accomplished painter and enjoyed knitting and other forms of needlework. She took great interest in her family, caring for her parents for many years with the loving help of sister, Jessie. Isobel was a kind, gentle, dignified lady, who perhaps because she never married, took a special interest in her nieces and nephews and their children. She will be much missed and lovingly remembered by the Hills: Don (Vivian), Dartmouth; Laurie (Linda), Ottawa; and Patricia (Wayne Jewers), Lunenburg; as well as the Ritceys: Jed (Betty), Truro; Isobel (Harold Cream), Truro; Joanne, Truro; brother-in-law, G.C. Ritcey, Truro. She has 18 grandnephews and nieces and one great-grandnephew. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald; sisters, Sara (Mrs. Gordon Hill), Jessie, Margaret, Mary (Mrs. Mayme Ritcey), Kathryn; brother-in-law, D. Gordon Hill; nephew, Kirk Ritcey. A memorial service, Rev. Dale Irving officiating, will be held in St. Andrew's United Church, Sydney, on Sunday at 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, with burial to be in the family plot in Hardwood Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only by request. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Andrew's United Church (40 Bentick St., Sydney, N.S., B1P 1G2) or to 1-Centre Nursing Care (c/o: Northwood Centre, 2615 Northwood Terrace, Halifax, N.S., B3K 3S5).

SMITH, Daniel Norman - 47, Charlotte Street, Sackville, N.B., died April 11, 2000. Born in Amherst, he was a son of Viola (Dumphy) Smith, Amherst and the late Edgar Smith. He had worked for the Bill Lynch Shows for over 20 years. Surviving are sisters, Jean Snowden, Sackville, N.B.; Barb Goodwin, Brookdale; brothers, Joseph, James, Robert, Amherst. He was predeceased by sister, Eleanor Smith; brothers, Gary, Larry, Jack. Cremation has taken place. No visitation. Memorial service 2 p.m. today, in Cumberland Memorial Chapel, Amherst, Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Burial to take place this spring in the Amherst Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society or any charity.

MacVICAR, Pearl Germaine - 71, Taigh Na Mara, formerly of Beacon Street, Glace Bay, died April 11, 2000, in Taigh Na Mara. Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Bridget (MacDonald) McNeil. She was a member of St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay. She was a former member of Glace Bay Citizen's Band Radio Club and the dart league in Glace Bay. Surviving are daughter, Sharon Nega, Glace Bay; sons, Daniel, Kevin, Alberta; brother, Jerry "Toot" McNeil; sisters, Catherine MacDonald, Madeline MacInnis, Glace Bay; Beatrice MacDougall, Toronto; three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael; son, Billy; brothers, Ambrose, Joseph, Patrick and Aloysius in infancy; sister, Dorothy MacLeod. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday, in St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay, Rev. Doug Murphy officiating. Burial to follow in St. Luke's United Cemetery, Donkin. Donations to Taigh Na Mara Bus Fund.

VINCENT, Hazel Cora - 87, Dartmouth, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Robinson, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Cora (Pieroway) Moore. She moved to Dartmouth from Newfoundland in 1941. She was a long-time and active member of Christ Church, as well as a member of A.C.W. She is survived by daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Percy Delouche), Georgetown, Ont.; son, Chester (wife Joyce), Dartmouth; brother, Roy, Newfoundland; grandchildren, Michael, Darlene, Steven, and Susan. She was predeceased by her husband, Hayward; daughter, Marion Erdman; sisters, Nellie, Winnifred, Gladys and Nina. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday, in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Christ Church, Ochterloney St., Dartmouth, Archdeacon Paul Smith officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Cornwallis Street Baptist Church and a member of Branch 25 Royal Canadian Legion. She is survived by daughter, Velma E. Connelly and her husband Doug Connelly, Deep River, Ont.; a very special nephew, Paul Husbands, Toronto; granddaughters, Zena and Vanessa Nurse, Ontario. She was predeceased by brothers, Beresford Husbands, Charles Husbands, Kenneth Husbands, Osborne Husbands and Gerald Husbands; sisters, Augusta Mason-Firmin, Vera Jackson, Elaine Parris, Eileen Dorsey, Millicent Husbands and Hazel Hendrickson. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in J.A Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Cornwallis Street Baptist Church, Rev. Lionel Moriah officiating. ROSS (Nemn), Marjorie Evelyn - 77, Gibson Woods, Kings Co., passed away April 12, 2000, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Gibson Woods, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Evelena (Gibson) Clements. She was a member of the First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Canard, had been a member of the Gibson Woods Community Club and Ladies Auxiliary and was an avid Bingo player. A loving and devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her husband, Arthur; daughters, Andrea and Karen, Gibson Woods; sons, Terry and wife Kathy, Gibson Woods; Daniel, Canning; sisters, Bessie Croxen, Bridgewater; Anne Ogletree, Detroit; Doris Evans, Cherry Brook Road, Dartmouth; Fannie Brothers, Gibson Woods; Barbara Padmore and Carole Clements, Toronto; brothers, Harold, William and Allan, Gibson Woods; grandchildren, Kimberly, Terri and Andrew; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Reginald, Barry and Mervyn; sisters, Ruth and Frances in infancy. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday, in W.C. Hiltz Funeral Parlour, Kentville. BURTON, Dorothy - 77, Cooks Brook, went to be with her Lord on April 12, 2000, after a brief illness at home. Born in Carrolls Corner, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Ellen (Raine) Tully. A resident of Cooks Brook for most of her life. She was an avid gardener and she was fond of nature, animals and sport fishing. She was a retired school teacher having taught in the communities of Admiral Rock, Chaswood, Cooks Brook and Maple Grove. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church, Stewiacke and past president of the ladies auxiliary and past secretary treasurer. Surviving are sons, Harold, Martins River; Barry (Marcia), Riverview, N.B.; Paul (Marlane), Cooks Brook; foster son, Randy (Gabrielle) Turner, Dartmouth; daughters, Betty (Don) McCarty, Blacks Harbour, N.B.; Twila (Eric) Chaytor, Lakelands; grandchildren, Tamara, Trevor, Michelle, Angela, Maggie, Brandy, Chloe, Isaac, Stephanie and Daniel; sister, Grace Killen, Gays River. She was predeceased by her husband, Earle; brothers, Reginald, Victor, Hilton and Harold; sisters, Lenora, Mabel; grandchildren, Sam and Friday. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 14, with funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, both in Ettinger's Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, Rev. John D. Mean officiating.
