Nancy I Hannam
HANNAM, Nancy I. - 62, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully April 2, 2003, in the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Dartmouth, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Grace Griswold.
She is survived by her children, William, Barbara, John and Michael; sisters, Jacqueline and Lynn; grandchildren, Jennifer, Tara and Brittany.
She was a volunteer driver with Canadian Red Cross, an avid bowler and secretary of DRMDL.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Christ Church (Anglican), corner of Wentworth and Ochterloney Streets, Dartmouth, Archdeacon Paul Smith officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
Avis Sophia Munroe
MUNROE, Avis Sophia - 90, passed away April 1, 2003, in the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII. Born in Yankee Harbour, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Creamer) Peitzsche.
She worked for many years at the Gate Canteen in the Halifax Shipyards for the CNIB. She enjoyed bowling, bingo and having friends over for a visit. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Eric; sons, Donald Pickrem (Margaret), Truro; Carl Pickrem (companion Julia Bremner), Bedford; brother, Wilfred, Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, John Aubrey Pickrem (1967); sister, Mamie Smith; brother, Ainslie Peitzsche.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., funeral Friday at 11 a.m., both in Atlantic Funeral Home, Bayers Road. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Reception Centre. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses or a charity of choice.
Linda Marie McIsaac
McISAAC, Linda Marie - 44, Halifax, passed away peacefully Monday, March 31, 2003, in the VG Site, QEII. She was the oldest daughter of Joseph Power and the late Florence (D'Entremont) Power.
Educated at St. Catherine's School and St. Patrick's High School. She volunteered her service in the community as a registered nutritional consultant. Linda cherished her home and her friends in Margaree. Linda will be sadly missed by her family, friends and Shaklee.
Linda is survived by her husband, Barry J.; sisters, Marlene (Dan) Hasler; Susan (Harold) Corbett, Halifax; paternal grandmother, Madeline Power; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Atlantic Funeral Home, Bayers Road, Halifax. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday in St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, corner of Robie Street and Normandy Drive, Father Gilbert Bertrand O.M.I. and Father Donald Boudreau officiating. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Donations may be made to a charity of choice. A warm, heartfelt thank you to all the staff on the 8th floor of the VG Site, QEII, and Medical Day, 4 North and Aliant colleagues.
Geraldine Lorna "Jerri" Lantz
LANTZ, Geraldine Lorna "Jerri" - 66, died March 30, 2003, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late George and Levenia Veinotte.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Carl Gilbert; daughter, April (Gerry) Forrest, Dartmouth; sons, Christopher (Pat), Dartmouth; Carl David, at home; Gran to Gregory, Paul, Katie, and Adam; sisters, Joan Knickle, Stella MacDonald; brother, David Veinotte.
She was predeceased by brothers, Thomas and Mervin.
No visitation by request. Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or any health charity.
Ron "Bud" Filek
FILEK, Ron "Bud" - Passed away suddenly at his home in Halifax, at 69 years of age, on March 28, 2003.
Formerly from Sydney, he is survived by sisters, Joan Swift (Randy), Bayfield, Ont.; Jean Epton, Ottawa; daughters, Tracey, Beamsville; Leslie, Toronto.
He was predeceased by his father, Fred (Sydney); mother, Vi Vigneau (Sydney); brother, Frank (London, Ont.).
He will be fondly remembered by his many friends, nieces and nephews.
No visitation, as cremation has taken place.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Billy Kenneth Andrews
ANDREWS, Billy Kenneth - 15, Meaghers Grant, passed away March 28, 2003, at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Bill and Valerie Andrews.
Billy enjoyed the outdoor life. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, soccer, swimming, four wheeling, building forts and nature. Besides his parents,
Billy is survived by sister, Ashley Candace Andrews; grandparents, Horace and Norma Staples, Dartmouth; William "Bill" and Theressa Andrews, Sackville; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his great-grandparents.
Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Monday and 12-2:30 p.m. Tuesday with funeral service 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, all in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, Rev. Linda Yates officiating. Interment to follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens, followed by a reception in the funeral home.
