PARKER, Terrance Alexander "Terry"
PARKER, Terrance Alexander "Terry" - 53, Canso, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Robert and Genevieve Florence "Gerloch" (Fanning) Parker. Terry worked as a labourer in and around Canso. He was a very active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 46, Canso, and Star of the Sea Parish. Terry was known as a great sports fan and loved to play softball, darts and horseshoes. Music and playing the guitar was a big part of his life, but family is what he cherished most. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie (Baker); daughter, Danielle, Canso; son, Alex, Fort McMurray, Alta.; sisters, Anita (Raymond), Hamilton, Ont.; Carolyn (Bill), Canso; brothers, Robert "Tunk", Newmarket, Ont.; Joe (Stella), Canso; George (Kathy), Canso; Hughie (Liz), Alliston, Ont.; Don, Hamilton, Ont.; Patrick (Leah), Oromocto, N.B.; Gerry (Jelly), Perry (Marg), Brian (Carol), all of Canso; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 6-9 p.m. Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso, with Father Daniel Boudreau officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Star of the Sea Parish Building Fund.
Peter Douglas Westerman
(August 15, 1952 - June 7, 2013)
NEW GLASGOW - Peter Douglas Westerman, 60, New Glasgow passed away peacefully Friday, June 7, 2013 in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born in Kentville, he was a step son of Eva (Madore) Westerman and the late William and Marjory (Winchester) Westerman. He was an on air personality at CKEC from 1978-1984. Peter retired from Aberdeen Business Centre after 20 years in maintenance. He enjoyed music, deep sea fishing and bingo. Peter was a loving, husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Darlene (DeYoung) Westerman, daughters, Haley Westerman, New Glasgow; step-daughter, Nichole Marks, New Glasgow; sisters, Cheryl Lays, Westville; Vicki (Harvey) MacLeod, Stellarton; Dorothy Jill Westerman, Nunavut, NWT; April (Scott) Faulkner, Middle Sackville; brother, Darrell Westerman (Donna), Shorts Lake; Aunts, Jean Westerman, New Glasgow; Rose Bowes, New Glasgow; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Patsy (Brow) Westerman; step-father, Alvin Reeves; brother, William “Billy” Westerman.
The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in P.&K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will follow in Abercrombie Cemetery.

Eleanor Mae MacDonald
(August 25, 1934 - June 18, 2013)
THORBURN - Eleanor Mae MacDonald, 78, Thorburn went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Tuesday June 18, 2013 surrounded by her family in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Dortt and Hazel Lillian (Smith) Duncan. She was a member of Freedom Bible Church, Sutherlands River and the 55 Plus Club, New Glasgow. In earlier years she was with the RCAF from 1954-1959 as a supply tech. Eleanor enjoyed oil painting, taking long drives through the country and music. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Ralph MacDonald; daughters, Karen (Donnie) Rhyno, Brookville Rd; Nadine MacDonald, Cole Harbour; son, Mark (Jennifer) MacDonald, Bridgeville; sister, June (Duncan) Gidney, Digby Neck; brothers, Robert “Bob” Duncan, Kingston, Ont; Jim Duncan, Florida; grandchildren, Candyce, Benjamin, Andrew, Caleb and Zackary; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Rathbone; brother, Richard “Dickie” Duncan.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel with Pastor, Alan Klein, officiating.
Interment will follow in Castle Hill Cemetery.

PINE TREE – Theresa Ann Farrell, 73, Pine Tree passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late John Charles and Margaret Ellen (Bell) Chikness. She was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Thorburn. Theresa worked diligently creating a home for her family during her life, temporarily working for at her brother-in-laws store for several years. She loved listing to country music, caring for animals, enjoying a cold Keith’s and being kind to others.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, John George Farrell; children, John Joseph (Mary) Farrell, Halifax; Nancy (Erwin) Johnson, River John; Stephen (Theresa) Farrell, New Glasgow; Bruce (Carol) Farrell, Brookville; Wayne, Pine Tree; grandchildren, Craig, Johnathan Joseph, Kayleigh, Ryan, Mark and Candace; sisters, Camilla (Raymond) Jordan, Stellarton; Alyce Frosst, Stellarton; Helen (Wade) Smith, Hopewell; Linda Works, Stellarton; brothers, Johnny (Hazel) Chickness, Stellarton; Earl (Diane) Shakness, Stellarton; Billy Chikness, Halifax; Freddy Cooper, Stellarton; sisters-in-law, Helen (Don) MacDonald, Antigonish; Jane Farrell (Gerry), Churchville; Vie Farrell, Angus, Ont.; brothers-in-law, Bernie (Shirley) Farrell, New Glasgow; Gerald (Joan) Farrell, Pine Tree; numerous nieces and nephews.

DICKIE, Marion Estelle
77, of River Street, Stellarton, died Sunday, December 14, 2008, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Riverton, Pictou Co., she was a daughter of the late Chalmers and Della (Corbett) MacKay. Marion was a resident of Stellarton all of her life, where she was an adherent of Sharon St. John United Church. Surviving are daughters, Cathy (Stephen) Nicholson, Westville; Mildred (David) Scott, Lower Sackville; granddaughters, Stephanie and Lovetta; brothers, Doug (June), Riverton; Wilbur, Stellarton; sister, Joyce Peterson, Waterville. She was predeceased by her husband, Guy Dickie. Cremation to take place. The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, from where a memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday with Captain Jim Sinclair officiating. Port Elgin, N.B. Rhoda Isabel MacDonald, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, in Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin, N.B. Born on January 29, 1920, in Coburg, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Alice Goodwin. Rhoda was a member of Saint James Presbyterian Church in Port Elgin, N.B. Rhoda will be sadly missed by her husband, well-known Maritime author, Andy MacDonald of Coburg, N.B.; daughter, Dianne (Frank) Copp; grandchildren, David (Woo Jung Hur) and Michael (Jennifer); great-granddaughter, Mireille; sister, Audrey Beal of Ontario and two "adopted" granddaughters, Kimberly Stark and Ydelma Martinez, both of Sosua, Dominican Republic. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Rhoda may be made to Saint James Presbyterian Church, Port Elgin, or to the charity of one's choice.
DOUCETTE, Paul A.
DOUCETTE, Paul A. - 68, Belliveau Cove, passed away October 6, 2008, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Yarmouth, he was a son of the late Capt. Ralph and Catherine (Belliveau) Doucette. He was a boat builder with Freddie Theriault in his young years; an engineer with Fundy Gypsum Co. and Department of Transportation Ferry Services; a member of the 74th Crusaders Motorcycle Club, Lequille, as well as the Apple Valley Riders, Billtown. He was best known for his motorcycle ice cream run and as the game organizer at the motorcycle rallies. He loved four-wheeling and was a member of the Southwest Nova ATV Association. He was an avid hunter and always looked forward to the hunting season with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Celeste Doucette, Belliveau Cove; brother, Jimmy (Janet), Belliveau Cove; sister, Barbara (Leonel) LeBlanc, Cumberland, Vancouver Island, B.C.; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in Meteghan Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Funeral to be held 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Bernard Church, Rev. Albeni d'Entremont officiating. SLAUNWHITE, Lena Agnes
82, Terence Bay, died of a broken heart on Friday, December 5, 2008. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Harry 10 weeks ago. She was also predeceased by parents, Edith and Nelson Slaunwhite, her sisters, Edna Greenwood, Sheila Ryan and her son-in-law, Reggie (Lana) Slaunwhite. She is survived by her sister, Nellie (Fern) Philippe; her daughters, Brenda (Leo) Manuel and Lana (Reggie) Slaunwhite; her son, Blair (Sharen); and her grandchildren, Tara, Craig (Colleen) Manuel, and Ashley Slaunwhite; and Reggie's daughters, Kelsey and Carrie. Lena was a strong woman who met all of life's adversities head on with a smile and a quick wit. She was the heart of the family and will be deeply missed. She is reunited with Harry now. Thank you to all the staff at Glades Lodge for their wonderful care of Lena. Burial at a later date. Services will be in Atlantic Funeral Home, Bayers Road, on Wednesday, December 10, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Donations may be made to Glades Lodge (Nursing Home).
CAMERON, Clifford
88, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2008, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Mylo and Ina (Graham) Cameron. Cliff lived most of his life in Stellarton. He was a veteran of the Second World War and served overseas. He was a member of the Oversea's War Veterans Assoc. and was also a member of Branch No. 28 Royal Canadian Legion, Stellarton. Cliff was a retired employee of CNR with 36 years of service. He was a member of Christ Anglican Church, a 65 year member of the Keith Masonic Lodge No. 23 and Harmony Chapter No. 25 O.E.S. Surviving are his wife, the former Phyllis Esling; daughters, Nancy and Hazelann, both of Stellarton; granddaughter, Jennifer Dawn; sister, Ruth Hanham of Truro; sisters-in-law, Theresa Cameron of Prince Edward Island; Anne Cameron of Ontario; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter, Joyce Ellen; brothers, Roland, Bob and Ralph. There will be no visitation or service by the request of the deceased. A private graveside service will be held in Abercrombie Cemetery. If so desired, donations may be made in memory of Cliff to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch or to Lung Association of Nova Scotia. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.C. McNEIL, James A. "Mick"
Died Sunday, December 7, 2008. A son of the late Sarah Elizabeth McNeil. He is survived by wife, Theresa (Reid); daughters, Laura, Judy; son, James (Aislyn); granddaughters, Amanda, Kaley, and Justyce; uncle, Michael McNeil. Also predeceased by several aunts and uncles. No visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Friday, December 12, 11 a.m in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Agnes Church. Interment in the parish cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Agnes Hall.
ENDERS, Robert William "Bob"
64, Mount Uniacke, passed away December 8, 2008, in the Cobequid Multi Service Centre. Born in Halifax, the son of the late Arnold Carl and Hazel (Monamy) Enders. He was a member of the Halifax Antique Car Club. He did enjoy doing restorations on many of the antique cars. He owned and operated Uniacke Mechanical Contracting Limited. He was employed for many years as a mechanical engineer in the Halifax Shipyards. He enjoyed coin collecting and traveling. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, the former Marilyn Brown; children, Sandra (David) Livingston, Lower Sackville; Robert (Jamie Gillis), Halifax; Judy Enders, Cape Breton; Richard (Barbie), Mount Uniacke; sister, Joan (Lorne) Morton, British Columbia; brother, Don (Marion) Enders, Halifax; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Shirley, and nephew, Tommy. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., where funeral service will take place Friday at 11 a.m., Rev. Alan Orser officiating. MacNAIRN, Grace Rogers Brecken
Peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2008. Beloved wife of John Stewart MacNairn, of Moncton, N.B. (1919-1983); mother of Cynthia, Vancouver, B.C.; Gwendolyn and Bill Jones, Halifax; James, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Ian and Beth Lindley, Takoma Park, Md.; Nancy and Adrian LeClaire, Halifax; and called "Granny Grace" by three special grandchildren, Brianna, Fiona and Paul. Born in Erin, Ont., September 30, 1924, she grew up in Sackville, N.B., and graduated from Mount Allison University (Literature 1945, Music 1946). She was married in England then lived in West Germany, Massachusetts, New York, Michigan, Ontario and most recently Melville Gardens, Halifax. She was a generous, graceful soul who loved music, enjoyed to travel and read anything she could get her hands on. The extended family, both past and present, spend their summers at Pointe-du-Ch�ne, N.B. A memorial service will be held in St. Andrews United Church, on Sunday, December 14, at 1 p.m. with Rev. 80, Youbou, B. C., passed away November 15, 2008, in Youbou, B.C. Born in Stewiacke on February 3, 1928, he was a son of the late Lewis and Henrietta (Feener) Irving. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Jackson (Wayne) of Fort Nelson, B.C.; son, Barrie of Youbou, B.C.; grandchildren, Allison Cooper, Ryan, and Brianne Irving; great-grandson, Wyatt Nelson; former wife, Billie Robinson; sister, Debra Creelman, Truro; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Richard "Dick" Irving. On Sunday, November 30, family and friends gathered at the Youbou Community Hall for a celebration of Ben's life.

89, Cole Harbour, passed away peacefully in Northwood Centre, December 6, 2008. Born in St. George's, N.L., on May 2, 1919, Freda was a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Ann (Gillam) Pieroway. Her years of work included Production Manager at Major Foods, Food Services Manager Ocean View Manor, Housekeeping and Kitchen Manager, Halifax County Hospital. Freda was an avid volunteer in the church and community. She is survived by daughter, Phyllis (Wendell) Blades, West Chezzetcook; grandchildren, Joe, Fredericton, N.B.; Carol, Toronto and Ruth (Michael Daye), Upper Tantallon; sister, Ina McLeod, Dartmouth and brother, Percy (Olga) Pieroway, Stephenville, N.L., and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Warren; sister, Vera Berry; brothers, Chesley, Charlie, Gerald, Wallace, Edwin and Kenneth. CARMICHAEL, Joshua M.
23, Dartmouth, passed away December 7, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Shelley (Carmichael) and William Sanderson. Josh loved his work as a welder in the Oilfields of Alberta. He lived life to the fullest with many friends in many circles. He is survived by his mother, Shelley, and dad, Bill Sanderson; brothers, Jack, Billy, and sisters, Marie, Angela, Beth and Jessica; grandmothers Agnes Carmichael, and Marion Sanderson and several aunts and uncles. He will also be missed by his dogs, Sampson and Gina. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Donald Carmichael, and William Sanderson, and great-grandparents, Weldon and Ada Horton. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m., today in Northbrook Bible Chapel, Victoria Rd., Dartmouth, where a memorial service will also be held 2 p.m. Thursday December 11, Pastor John Luten officiating, assisted by Jim Ostewig.
