DOROTHY BLANCHE BATES
DOROTHY BLANCHE BATES, 84, of Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, Hants
County, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28th,
2002, at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
Born on April 24th, 1918, in New Ross, Lunenburg County,
she was a daughter of the late William and Jnaet Blanche
(Hatt) Levy.
Dorothy was a member of Windsor United Baptist Church,
she loved her church and her church work. Dorothy played
the organ for many years, playing at South Rawdon Baptist
Church, Mt. Uniacke Baptist Churchj and Beaverbank Villa.
Dorothy and the late Helen Boyd sang together at the New
Ross Baptist Church. She was dearly beloved by all who knew
her, and meant the world to her family who will dearly miss
her.
She is survived by sister, Jean Bezanson, Currys Corner;
sister-in-law, Hazel Levy, New Ross; many neices and
nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Reuben; brothers,
Harold, Lawson, Elwood, Ernest, Robie, Atwood and gordon;
sister, Effie Keddy.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday, August 29th,
in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., funeral
service will be friday at 2 p.m. from Windsor United Baptist
Church, Rev. Greg Doyle officiating. Interment to follow in
Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Windsor United
Baptist Church.
GLADYS EVELYN WHITING
WHITING, GLADYS EVELYN...80, Windsor, Hants County., passed
away Monday, August 26th, 2002, in Hants Community Hospital,
Windsor.
Born May 20th, 1922, in St. Croix, Hants county., she was a
daughter of the late Harrie and Haddie (Flynn) Smith.
Gladys worked at the Masonic Home in Windsor for many years.
She enjoyed sewing and baking, especially for her
grandchildren. She was a loving grandmother who enjoyed
spending time with her family.
She is survived by grandchildren, David and jackie, both of
Windsor; Tim, Falmouth; Tracey, Ellershouse; Carlene
Rawdon; Pam, Ardie, Alberta; Roxanne, Yarmouth; 14 great
grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles frederick;
children, Barbie, Archie, Donnie all in infancy and daughter
Shirley Schlosser; brothers, Had, Charlie and harold;
sisters, Annie Power and Ivy parker.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, August 27th,
2002, in Lindsay's Windsor funeral Home, 194 king St.,
Windsor. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August
28th, from the funeral home chapel, Rev. Garnet Parker
officiating. Burial in Ste. Croix cemetery, St. Croix.
Reception to follow in Lindsay's Family Reception Centre, 184 King St.

PERCY ARCHIBALD FIENDLE
Percy Archibald Fiendle - age 84, Leminster, Hants County,
passed away Sunday, August 11,2002, in Fairview Villa,
Halifax.
Born September 29, 1916, in Leminster, Hants County.,
he was a son of the late Archibald and Hattie (Swinimer)
Fiendle.
Percy spent most of his life on the family propert in
Leminster, working in the woods and doing some farming.
Percy enjoyed the outdoors and feeding animals on his
property. Percy was a real people person, enjoying
visiting with family and friends. He always took pride
in his automobiles. He spent the last few years of his
life at Fairview Villa, where he was well cared for.
He is survived by sisters, Violet Trenholm, Windsor Elms;
nieces, Heather (Reinhold) Winterer, Calgary; Melva
Jollymore, Halifax; nephew, Floyd Jollymore, New Ross;
cousin and caregiver, Ron (Edith) Levy, Leminster.
He was predeceased by sister, Tryphena Jollymore.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. Tusday, August
13, 2002 in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St,
Windsor, where funeral service will be held Wednesday
at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel, George Christensen
officiating. Burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery,
Windsor. Donations in memory may be made to Fairview Villa,
SPCA or a charity of one's choice.
RICHARD "RICK" STERLING
STERLING, RICHARD "RICK" - 56, Brooklyn, Hants County.,
passed away suddenly Monday, November 4th, 2002, at home.
Born March 13th, 1946, in Windsor, Hants County., he was the
son Clarence and Doris (Schare) Sterling, Brooklyn. The
active manager of Sterling's Farm Market, Rick built the
Sterling Farm Market into a thriving business over the last
twelve years. He was a well respected member of the
communty who was always willing to help others. He was a
devoted and loving father, grandfather, son and brother.
Besides his parents, he will sadly missed by daughters,
Sarah and Shelley; son, Richard "Scott"; grandson, Jordan;
sister, Ruby Sterling; niece and nephews, Rachelle,
Emanuel, Zachary and Joshua Chicoine. Many valued employees.
Cremation has taken place. Family will receive visitors
7 - 9 p.m. Wednesday, November 6th, in Lindsay's Windsor
Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor. Funeral service will
be held 2 p.m. Thursday in Newport United Church, Brooklyn,
Rev. Marilyn MacDonald officiating. Burial at a later date.
Donations may be made to Newport United Church.
FREDERICK JAMES SHAW
SHAW....FREDERICK JAMES, 69, Lockhartville, Kings County,
passed away at home, Monday, October 21st, 2002, with his
loving wife by his side.
Born April 21st, 1933, in Lockhartville, Fred was a son of
Jonathan Shaw, Lockhartville and the late Gladys (Tracey)
Shaw.
Fred bred purebred swine for over 30 years in lockhartville.
For several years he was a member of the Canadian ROP Swine
Advisory Board. He was a founding member of the Nova Scotia
Swine Breeders Association and served as chairman for two
years and president from 1979 - 1981. In 1994, he received
the Canadian Swine Breeders Merit Award of which he was very
proud. On five seperate occasions he was asked to judge
swines at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.
Fred is sadly missed by his loving wife, the former Julia
Flynn; son, Daniel (Sylvia), Dutton, Ontario; grandchildren,
Lisa, Carla, Amber, Brandon.
He was predeceased by brother, Murray in infancy.
Funeral service for Fred will be held 2 p.m. Thursday,
October 24th, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194
King St., Windsor, Paul Crandall officiating. Interment to
follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer
Society.
HENRY ALLEN SANFORD
SANFORD...HENRY ALLEN - age 82, Curry's Corner, Hants Co.,
it is with great sadness the family announces the passing
of a dear husband, father, grampy and brother on Wednesday,
October 16th, 2002, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
Born October 18th, 1919, in Windsor, he was a son of the
late Oscar and Mora (Richardson) Sanford.
Henry was a meat cutter in Windsor for a number of years, he
worked in carpentry with Don Dill and worked at the Sou
Wester Restaurant in Peggy's Cove for 15 years. He
volunteered his time for perennial gardening at Dykeland
Lodge, Windsor, for several years, and enjoyed spending time
in his own gardens.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 30 years, Jean
(Allen); son, Craig (Nadine), West Dover; grandchildren,
Rebecca and Brett; sisters, Theta Skaling, Hantsport; Viola
Noiles, Hantsport; special nieces, Gloria Aker, Kingston;
Winnie Lake, Windsor; several other niecs and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, James, Murray, Inglis and
John in infancy; sisters, Vonnie Smith, Alice LaRusic,
Kathleen Pico, Lenora Smith and Marie in infancy.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, October 17th,
in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral
home chapel, Rev. Michael Kenell officiating. Burial to
follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.

ROSITA FERN BROWN
BROWN...ROSITA FERN, 55, 263 Redden Rd., Martock, Hants Co.,
passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2002, in Hants Community
Hospital, Windsor, after a very brave battle with cancer,
surrounded by her love ones.
Born January 7, 1947, in Three Mile Plains, Hants Co., she
was a daughter of the late Arthur and C. Ruth (Cox) Boyd.
Rosita was a self employed hair dresser for many years. She
was an Elder of Windsor United Church. Rosita will be sadly
missed and always remembered for her courage and loving
heart.
She is survived by daughter, Laura Ruth and her husband
Daryl Dill, Martock, Martock; grandson, Hunter Charles Dill,
Martock; stepson, Ricki (Mary) Woodcock, Lancaster, Calif.;
step-grandchildren< Kendall and Kyle Woodcock, Lancaster,
Calif.; brothers, Paul (Sylvia) Boyd, Sackville, N.B.;
J. Garth (Donna) Boyd, Lower Sackville; Larry (Elaine) Boyd,
Kentville; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Rosita was predeceased by her husband, Charles (Charlie).
Visitation will be Friday, October 11, 2002, from 2-4 and
7-9 P.M. in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St.,
Funeral Service will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, in Windsor
United Church, King St., Windsor, Rev. Bill Gibson
officiating. Interment to follow in Maplewood Cemetery,
Windsor. A Reception to follow in the church annex.

PETER MICHAEL FOGARTY
Fogarty....Peter Michael, age 31, Larencetown, Halifax Co.,
passed away Monday, October 7, 2002, in Windsor, Hants Co.
Peter was born March 20, 1971, in Windsor., and was a son
of John and Sylvia (Bowman) Fogarty, Newport Station.
Peter worked at Irving Oil Ltd., Woodside for 10 years. He
enjoyed the outdoors, especially golfing. Peter was a loving
father, husband, son, brother and grandson, and was a
friend to all.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, the former
Heidi Jonah; sons, Alex and Matthew, both at home; sisters,
Pam (Lance), Garlands Crossing; Mary Lou (Darrell), Newport
station; brother, Andrew, Windsor; maternal grandmother Ruth
Bowman, Garlands Crossing.
He was predeceased by brother, Johnny; maternal grandfather,
Earl Bowman; paternal grandparents, Hadd "Harry" and Mildred
Fogarty.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Wednesday,
October 9, from 7-9 p.m. in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home,
194 King St., Windsor, where funeral service will be held
2 p.m. Thursday, in the chapel, Rev. Craig Faulkner
officiating. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
