WAMBOLDT, William Edward

92, Annapolis Royal, passed away April 25, 2009, in Annapolis Royal Nursing Home. Born in Caledonia, he was a son of the late Edward and Bridget (McBride) Wamboldt. He is survived by sons, Edward M. (Mary Ann) of Ontario; Donnie R. (Carolyn) of Middleton; William L. (Geraldine) of Upper Clements; daughter, Emily R. (Garnet) Guest of Upper Clements; grandchildren, Marcia Coull, Cyndy Locke, Louanne Piper, Lexie Hogan, Derek Wamboldt, Jody Guest, Jamie Guest and Jason Guest; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Shaleena, Marleena, Mathew, Kelsey, LiLe, Brandon, Lance, Hunter, Emma, Ava, Ayden, Grace Anne, Katelyn. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth; great-granddaughter, Macaylee; brother, Leonard and sister, Evelyn. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Monday in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. today in St. Edward's Anglican Church, Clementsport, with Rev. Gordon Neish officiating. Burial will be in Old St. Edward's Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be sent to Old St. Edward's Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or to the Annapolis Community Health Center.

MacDONALD, Gordon John

66, Ross Ferry, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at home. Born in Point Aconi, he was a son of Sabena (Devoe) and the late John MacDonald. He is survived by sons, Jim and Gordon Christopher; sisters, Elizabeth MacNeil, Mary, Lisa Marie MacDonald, and brothers, Frank, Russell, Bernie, Thomas, Alex, and Bill. He was predeceased by his wife, Christenia; and his brother, Gordon, in infancy. There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be today at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Father Hugh MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

EWING, Gordon Bruce

58, Noel Shore, passed away suddenly at home on Friday, April 24, 2009. Born in Halifax, he was the beloved son of the late Ronald and Vera (Stone) Ewing. Gordon owned and operated "Ewing's Auto Body" for many years. His passion for cars came early in the late 50s when he and his brother, Joe, got involved with Dirt Track Racing in Chester. A lifelong friendship was forged with Bob Riley, Frank Jackson, Donnie Riley and Junior Kelly when they formed the No. 50 Modified Car which won countless races and championships all over Atlantic Canada in the late 70s and 80s. In the early 90s he helped his son, Chris, with his racing career. In the mid 90s he joined the crew of the No. 12 car driven by the late Scott Kelly. Gordie enjoyed watching NASCAR races and cheering on his favorite driver, Bill Elliot. He enjoyed camping, hunting with his son, Chris and his brother, Bobby. Both he and his wife, Mary, enjoyed many hours fishing on Bay of Fundy. He enjoyed working in his garden and growing his "Big Pumpkins" for his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Connors); his beautiful daughter, Heather (Stephen) Webber, Cole Harbour and devoted son, Christopher (Lisa), Hubley and "Grampie's Boys", his grandsons, Cory Webber, Ryan and Joshua Ewing; brothers, Arthur, Robert, Donald, David, Doug, Stevie and Hilliard and sisters, Betty, Margaret, Jean and Grace. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Walter and Joseph and sister, Lorraine. Cremation has taken place. Visitation Wednesday, April 29, 1-3 p.m. in Noel United Church, 4588 Route 215. Rev. Joan Conrad will officiate at a memorial service following visitation. Interment will be in Noel Shore Cemetery. Reception to follow at the church. Donations in memory of Gordon can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to Scott Kelly Memorial Trust Fund at the IWK Health Centre. ZWICKER, Terry Leigh

46, Milton, Queens Co., died accidentally on April 24, 2009. Born in Liverpool, Queens Co., he was a son of Shirley I. (Crouse), Milton and the late Harry Parker Zwicker. He worked at Abitibi Bowater Paper Company for 19 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with friends. Surviving besides his mother are sister, Nancy (Francis) Dalby, Liverpool; brothers, Bert (Doris), Edmonton, Alta. and Danny, Dartmouth. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

PUBLICOVER, Graham Charles

Halifax, 85 years old, died peacefully April 24, 2009, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. He was predeceased by his second wife, Marie (Carpenter) Publicover. He was the son of Lewis Hugh and Georgie May (Totten) Publicover; and brother of Audrey Zinck (deceased). Graham will be greatly missed by his family, daughter, Dana Publicover; sons, Gerald (Linda) and Ken (Karen) Publicover; also stepdaughters, Carol Carpenter, Dianna (Bert) McLaughin and Donna MacKeown. He had loving grandchildren, Eric, Catherine, Aria, Matthew, Tracy, Sophie and Marc. Dad battled bravely for four months to return home, but was overcome by too many complications. As a young man growing up in Sydney, Cape Breton, he loved skiing in the back hills and playing a fast game of tennis. He was a proud member of the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War, and served overseas in Britain where he drove fuel trucks. In later life he stole a few good ends on the Mayflower curling rinks and enjoyed a Rye and seven whilst savouring the victories. He was a man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to family and friends. The family wishes to thank hospital staff for their professionalism and friends for their support. Visitation will be today from 7-9 p.m. in T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, 3400 Dutch Village Rd. Funeral service is Wednesday, April 29 at 11 a.m., also in T.K. Barnard's on Dutch Village Road. Interment to follow at a later date in New Glasgow. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to The War Amps of Canada. Good-bye Dad. We will miss your ready laugh.

WEAVER, George Leonard

53, of Lower Sackville, passed away suddenly on April 24, 2009, at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Arnold and Carol (Curran) Weaver, Queensland. Surviving besides his parents are his spouse, Cathy Tully, Lower Sackville; one brother and three sisters. It was George's wishes that there be no visitation or funeral service.

SWEET, Marion M., R.N.

83, Halifax, passed away April 26, 2009, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 1, 1925, in Brentwood, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Alice (Boomer) MacMillan. Marion was a 1946 graduate of the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing, Halifax. Throughout her nursing career, she worked in various hospitals in Halifax, Truro, and Ontario. She is survived by daughter, Patricia (John) DeLong, Dartmouth; sons, Ronald (Carol) Sweet, St. Margaret's Bay; James Sweet, Halifax; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Elroy, Gerald and Gordon MacMillan. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ettinger's Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. At Marion's request, a graveside memorial service will be held April 30th at 2 p.m. in Sandy Hill Cemetery, Belnan. Family flowers only with donations to Canadian Cancer Society. Heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Ernest Johnson for the many years of caring, also staff of 5A the VG Site, QEII and palliative care doctors.

MacDONALD, Martha

91, Antigonish. Martha MacDonald, wife of the late Duncan J. MacDonald, Sylvan Valley, passed away peacefully in Richmond Villa, St. Peters, on April 25, 2009. Born on October 28, 1917, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Crispo) MacEachern (of Harvre Boucher, Antigonish Co.). Martha graduated as an RN from St. Martha's Hospital School of Nursing in Antigonish, in 1941 and began her nursing career as a Public Health Nurse in Antigonish and Guysborough Counties until 1947. After spending time at home raising her family, she returned to nursing in 1961 and was Head Nurse on the maternity ward at St. Martha's Hospital for many years. Even in her final months, babies would still bring a smile to her face. As the nurse in the family, Aunt Martha was also the first one called when her many nieces and nephews were growing up. She was "Martha" to all who knew her and her energy was boundless whether it was raising funds for the Kidney Foundation or working on her next project or her garden. After her retirement in 1982, she spent 20 years as a "snowbird" and made many more friends at her winter home in Florida. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Alton) Hudson, Antigonish, and Sandra (Henry) Goy, Calgary, and her sons, Stuart (Florence) MacDonald, Truro; Wayne (Lorie) MacDonald, Calgary, and Kenny (Lisa) MacDonald, Calgary. She is also survived by sisters, Connie MacDonald, Antigonish, and Beatrice Bennett, Harvre Boucher, and grandchildren, Michelle, Cory, Craig, Vincent, Duncan, Micheal, Colin, Tara, James, Tyler and Blake and great-grandchildren, Sydney, Brett, Gavin and Malia. She was predeceased by brothers, Joseph and Harold MacEachern; sister, May MacIssac; brothers-in-law, Robbie MacDonald and Elmer Bennett. Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish, on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday in St. Ninian's Cathedral, with Rev. Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Richmond Villa for the wonderful, loving care they gave to our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Richmond Villa Alzheimer's Unit, Memory Lane, 9361 Pepperel St., St. Peter's, NS B0E 3B0.

GRADY, James Francis "Frank"

92, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2009, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Purcell's Cove, Halifax, on January 20, 1917, he was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. He was a son of the late James Phillip Grady and Margaret Julia Keeley. He worked as a pipefitter at the Dartmouth Marine Slips for 42 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3133. He was an avid sports fan, an outdoorsman, and had a great sense of humor. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Alice (Bonin). Frank was predeceased by his son, Brian; brothers, Phillip, Leo, Allan; sister, Lillian and twin sister, Margaret (Dot) O'Halloran. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by son, Terrence "Terry" (Susan Kearney), Lake Echo; daughter, Mary (Gordon) Demill, Porters Lake; daughter-in-law, Elizebeth (Anthony) Grady Rose, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Debra, Bruce, Shawn Demill (Melissa Bird), Christopher; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Cody Demill, and several nieces and nephews. Visiting will be 2-4, and 7-9 p.m. today in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church (corner of Main and Caledonia streets, Dartmouth), Father Ronald Cairns celebrant. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Jill Lawless and Angela McFadden, the palliative care nurses and staff of Dartmouth General Hospital, as well as Violet and Peter Bourgeois. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia would be appreciated.

91, Dutch Brook, died April 26, 2009. Born in Petite Rivier, he was a son of the late Maurice and Eva (Bell) Falt. Surviving are wife, Ella (Morley) Kennedy Falt; son, Lemuel; stepsons, Steven, Robert, Edward, Ernest "Gushie"; stepdaughter, Dorothy; stepgrandchildren, Kimberly, Darren, Robert C., LauraLee, Christeen, Robert; several stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, niece. He was predeceased by first wife, Nellie Mrazek Falt; brother, Maurice. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, Sydney. Funeral 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.

FRAIL, Jerry Winston

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jerry Winston Frail, 68, of Westfield, Queens Co., on April 25, 2009. Born in Westfield, he was a son of the late Vincent and Hester Frail. At a young age, Jerry left Nova Scotia to serve in the armed forces. During this time, he traveled across Canada and made many lasting memories and friendships. He eventually settled in Ontario where he married and started a family. In time, Nova Scotia drew him and his family back to Westfield, where he built his home away from it all in Moosepit with the help of his nephew Danny. It was here that Jerry was able to enjoy life in the country; hunting, fishing, birdwatching and spending time with his family and friends. In Nova Scotia, Jerry was employed by Kejimkujik National Park, Nova Scotia Power and finally he retired from NF Douglas Lumber. Some of Jerry's interests included stamp and coin collecting, woodworking, antiques and darts. Jerry is survived by his daughters, Pam (Kevin) Lewis, Toledo, Ohio; Cheryl (Stacey) Denton, Digby; their mother, Linda Frail, Caledonia; grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan; sisters, Alice Mansfield, Westfield; Mary (Jim) Wood, Lower Sackville; Carol Frail, Halifax; Louise (Alva) Weare, Westfield; Gail Frail, Halifax; Rose (Karl) Cochrane, Brookside; brothers, Manning (Eva) Frail, Burns Lake, B.C.; Lowell (Edna) Frail, Halifax, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Crandall and sister in infancy. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 30, in Hillcrest Cemetery, Westfield, at 2 p.m., Rev. Lloyd Gillieo officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Queens Fire Association or a charity of choice.

TUMBLIN, Moyle LeRoy

73, of West Dublin, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Bush Island, he was a son of Ivy (Bush) Tumblin and the late Ralph Tumblin. Surviving are his wife, Rosalita (Bush); son, Randall (Debra), Jenkins Island; daughter, Krista (Darrell) Welsh, West Dublin; grandchildren, Megan and Brandon Tumblin; aunt and uncle, Calvin and Mable Tumblin, Bush Island. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Neil McEwen officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Hill Cemetery, West Dublin. No flowers by request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Dublin United Church, South Shore Regional Hospital or the charity of your choice.

BABIN, Margaret Anne

Age 51, of Prospect Bay. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret "Margie", "Madge" on April 25, 2009, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Digby, she was a daughter of the late Donald V. and N. Gwendolyn (Abramson) Marshall. Margaret was a desk clerk in various hotels in the Yarmouth area. She had worked at MT&T for many years and most recently had worked at the IWK as a Medical Office Assistant. Margie was extremely soft-hearted and would be very proud to know that she was an organ donor. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and getting together with friends. Margaret is survived by her husband of 26 years and best friend, Ross Babin; children, Joel Marshall Babin and Kate Jocelyn Babin; "the light of her life" grandson, Kaden; sister, Dawn (John) MacLean, (who raised her from the age of six), their children, Tracey (Bill Oakley) Warwick, Sarah (Robert) Livesey; brothers, Jack (Dawn) Marshall and their children, James (Jenna), Luke (Stephanie), Lauren Marshall and David Marshall; brothers-in-law, Les (Kim) Babin, their son, Lee; Roy (Marjorie), their daughters, Nicole and Erika; Ralph (Sue), Earl (Maureen), their daughter, Lindsey; sister-in-law, Louise (George) Jackson and their sons, Troy and Chris Relf and grandnephew, Kyle. Margaret was predeceased by nephew, Mark Anthony Babin. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Knox United Church, Rev. Jean Udall officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Foundation or Heart and Stoke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
