Maurice William Bruhm
Maurice William Bruhm, 63, of Middle Cornwall, Lunenburg County, died Thursday in Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Middle Cornwall, he was a son of the late Wilbert and Lillie (Banks) Bruhm.
He owned and operated a lumber mill in Cornwall which had been run by his father and uncles. He served on the Municipal Council for 17 years and was a councillor for St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Middle Cornwall for 35 years. He was active in community activities and was a leader of the 4-H Club.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marion Mader; a daughter, Mary Anne, Williams Lake, British Columbia; three sons, Michael, Prince George, British Columbia; James, Grand Cache, Alberta; and Christopher, at home; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence Veinotte, Middle Cornwall; and a brother, Murray, New Cornwall. He was predeceased by an infant son and two sisters, Mildred and Marion.
The body is in Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. George Wawin officiating, with burial in Cornwall Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation or St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Middle Cornwall.

Clyde George Oickle
On Monday, August 7th, the community of Branch LaHave was shocked to hear of the sudden death of Clyde George Oickle. Born at Lower Branch 68 years ago, he was the son of Isaac and Eliza Oickle. He leaves to mourn his loss, a daughter, Margaret (Mrs. Eugene Crouse); son, Maxwell; sister, Jennie (Mrs. Wilbert Mailman); brother, Garfield, all of Branch LaHave; half sister, Lorna of Bridgewater. His wife predeceased him fourteen years ago.
Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon from St.James Lutheran Church, Rev. Donald Himmelman officiating. Interment was at Branch LaHave Cemetery. Pall bearers were as follows: Lawson Whynot, Clarence Lowe, Lowell Rhodenizer, Earl Seamone, Victor Lohnes, and Dalton Mailman.

LEADLEY, William Leonard "Bill" - 64, Dartmouth, passed away January 27, 2005. Born March 16, 1940, in Saint John, N.B., he was the son of the late Harold and Beulah Leadley. Bill was an avid gardener, a knowledgeable coin collector, an active member of "The Autumn Club" as well as a music lover. Before retiring, Bill held positions in various trades. He was also a dedicated volunteer for many years assisting residents of Northwood Manor. Bill was a wonderful story teller, and especially enjoyed sharing historical information about Halifax and Dartmouth. Bill was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Cole Harbour. All those who knew Bill will truly miss him. No visitation. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 3, in Grace Lutheran Church, 40 Caldwell Rd., Cole Harbour, Pastor Les Skonnord will be officiating. Burial in Camp Hill Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home in Dartmouth.
ERNST, Wesley Arthur Francis - 107, Blockhouse, Lunenburg Co., died February 24, 2000, at home. Born January 13, 1893, in Clearland, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Obediah and Margaret (Keddy) Ernst. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, C. Edna (Aulenback) Ernst; daughters, Marion Wilneff and her husband Lester, Blockhouse; Norma Sawler and her husband Wilbert, Western Shore; Reanie Fraser and her husband Ted, Pembroke, Ont.; Beatrice Veinotte and her husband Margeson, New Cornwall; sons, Clarence and his wife June, Caledonia, Ont.; Franklyn and his wife Thelma, Dartmouth; Claude, Blockhouse; Burliegh and his wife Rosalie, Blockhouse; Welton, New Cornwall; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughters, Jessie Wentzell and Alma Cottenden; sisters, Corella, Daisy, Margaret, Dorothy and Glennie; brothers, Vincent, Ellis, Cecil and Ainsley. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Mahone Funeral Home, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay. Funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Val Henning officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse. Flowers from the family only please. KEDDY, Harvey Arnold — 89, of Starrs Point, Kings Co., passed away Monday, November 23, 2009, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wallbrook, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Joseph and Elsie (Turner) Keddy. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in England, North Africa, Sicily and Italy. Following the war, he spent his working career as a carpenter. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dr. C. B. Lumsden Branch No. 74, Wolfville. He was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed growing roses, for which he won an award in 1990. He loved the outdoors and would be recognized by most for his hat and his pipe. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, Church Street, Port Williams and was proud of all of his wonderful nieces and nephews. His greatest love was his wife, Mary (Gausden). In addition to his wife, he is also survived by daughter, Carole (Roy) Goldfinch, Sussex, England; sister, Marjorie (Jack) Porter, Starrs Point Road; brother, Ron (Rolene), Greenwich; grandchildren, Gary and Dean; great-grandchildren, Jack, Roxanne and Jade; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Winnie, Blanche and Marguerite; brothers, Foster, David, Lester, Lawrence, Andrew "Bob" and Harry. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today with a Royal Canadian Legion service to be held at 7 p.m., both in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 26, in St. John's Anglican Church, Church Street, Port Williams, Rev. David Garrett officiating, assisted by Rev. Elizabeth Johnson. Burial will take place in Starrs Point Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Oickle, Garfield - (1965) The sudden passing of Garfield Oickle of Branch LaHave which occurred while at work on Tuesday afternoon, January 5th, was a great shock to his family and friends. The late Mr. Oickle was born in Bridgewater, July 28th, 1896, son of the late Isaac and Eliza Oickle. At an early age, following the death of his mother, he moved to Branch LaHave, where he permanently resided. He was always willing to help in time of need and will be greatly missed by his neighbours. Left to mourn the loss of a devoted father and grandfather are: a daughter, Kathleen (Mrs. Elmer Bolivar) Baker Settlement; two sons, Clark at home and Rex of Pinehurst; five grandsons, Merrill Bolivar of Dartmouth; Boyd Oickle, Gregory Oickle, Bradford Oickle and Larry Oickle of Pinehurst and a step grandson Theodore MacKay of Union Square. A half-sister Lorna Slauenwhite. Also a number of nephews and nieces. His wife predeceased him January 6th, 1962. One brother and one sister predeceased him. The largely attended funeral was held at St. James Lutheran Church on Thursday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Donald Himmelman. Interment was in the church cemetery at Branch LaHave."
VEINOTTE, Edith Blanche - 77, Clearland, passed away peacefully December 28, 2007, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. She enjoyed spending time at home with her family, where her time was cherished most. She enjoyed going to the Biscuit Eater for her weekly coffee and biscuit and enjoyed visits from her family and friends. She is survived by daughter, Jane; son-in-law, Bobby, and grandson, Dillon; sister, Matilda (Cedric) Lohnes, Maitland; brother, David (Elaine) Veinotte, Maitland. She was "Grammy" to Jennifer, Jeffrey and Ashleigh Veinotte, Sydnee Brown and Avery Veinotte, who she loved very much. She was predeceased by her husband, Glenwood; father, Wallace Veinotte; mother, Ruth (Milbury) Veinotte; brothers, Paul and Carl Veinotte; sister, Florence (Veinotte) Barry. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to S.H.A.I.D. Tree Animal Shelter. ERNST, Clara Edna - 97, Blockhouse, passed away December 20, 2005, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Middle Cornwall, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Aulenback. In earlier years she had been employed with the former C.U. Mader Hardware Store, Mahone Bay. She is survived by daughters, Marion (Lester) Wilneff, Blockhouse; Norma (Wilbert) Sawler, Western Shore; Reanie (Edward) Fraser, Ontario; Beatrice (Margeson) Veinotte, Middle Cornwall; sons, Clarence (June), Ontario; Claude and Burleigh (Rosalie), all of Blockhouse; Welton, Middle Cornwall; brother, Asa Aulenback, Dartmouth; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Wesley; daughters, Jessie and Alma; son, Franklyn; sisters, Emma, Flora, and Mary; twin brothers, Aaron and Ozem; brother, Albert; half-brother, Clarence; grandson, Percy Sawler. Mrs. Lillian Alice Haines, 70, died suddenly on Monday, March 11th, 1968, at her home in Barss Corner where she has resided since her second marriage to Stewart J. Haines, who survives her. Surviving from her first marriage to the late Clayton Whittier are two daughters, Virginia (Mrs. Harley Davidson), Aylesford; Ruth (Mrs. Guido D'Angelo), Pittsfield, Mass.; and three sons, Millard Whittier, Berwick; Harold, Black Point, Halifax County; and Ralph, New Glasgow. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Lester Giles, West Springfield, Mass.; and William Giles, Chester, Mass. Mrs. Haines was born in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1897, a daughter of Alsbra and Nettie (Tibbets) Giles. She moved to Nova Scotia in 1929 and for many years was a resident of Berwick. She was of a kind and gentle disposition, very devoted to her home, her family, and her church, the New Canada Baptist. Here she served faithfully for the past seven years as clerk, Sunday School teacher, assistant organist, and wherever there was a need. She was a Life Member of the Berwick Women's Christian Temperance Union. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
The funeral service was held at the New Canada Baptist Church on Thursdayafternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Pastor Douglas D. Crouse, assisted by Rev. Carol Armstrong of the Barss Corner Baptist Church, and Lic. Fred Crouse of Acadia University, Wolfville. Interment was in Lakeside Cemetery, New Canada.
Lillian Pauline Grieve 1961
Relatives and friends were shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Michael Grieve (nee Lillian Pauline Veinotte) of 978 Esquimalt Road, Victoria, British Columbia, on April 25, 1961. She was a resident here since August, 1960, and was formerly from Sweetland. She was a graduate of Grace Maternity School of Nursing, Halifax in May of 1960. She leaves to mourn her passing, a husband, Michael; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Veinotte of Sweetland; a grandmother, Mrs. Martha Veinotte, also of Sweetland; four sisters, Viola (Mrs. Andrew Proulx) of South Portage LaPrairie, Manitoba; Evelyn at Lunenburg; Rosalene and Erma, at home; a brother, Derrel, at home; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services were held for her and baby on Thursday, April 27, from McCall Bros. Family Chapel, with the infant son placed in her arms. Padre C.H. MacLean officiated. Interment in Royal Oak Burial Park, Victoria.

Gloria R. Coleman, age 81 years of Moncton, passed away at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Saturday, December 4th, 2010. Born in Greenville, Cumberland Co., NS on February 27th, 1929; she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Estelle (Patriquin) O'Brien. Sadly missed by her daughter Deborah Adshade; sons Terry (Ellen), Brian (Anna), Dale Adshade (Wanna); sisters Muriel McLean and Natalie Brown; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; also by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gloria was predeceased by her husband Robert in 2007; sister Ferne Downey; brothers Ormand and Arnold O'Brien.
Visitation will be held at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. A memorial service will be held at Tuttle Bros. Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 2:00pm with Pastor Chet MacPhail officiating. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Emerson Stephen Keddy, 81 of Lake Ramsey, died Friday at home. Born in Lake Ramsey, he was the son of the late Lazrus and Elizabeth (Veinot) Keddy. He is survived by his wife Mary Turner; six daughter, Effie (Mrs. Ernest Connors) and Vera (Mrs. Clinton Keddy) both of Lake Ramsey; Gladys (Mrs. Theodore Crockers), Goldie (Mrs. Wilfred Burns) and Velma (Mrs. Calvin McDermaid, all of Middleton and Eva (Mrs. Carl Hiltz) Frankville : two sons Ruben Branch LaHave and Harry, Ontario. The body is at W.C. Hiltz Funeral Home Kentville. Funeral service will be held today at 2.30 p.m. from the Anglican Church, New Ross with Rev. William Bishop officiating. Interment will be in church cemetery.
