Mrs. Phoebe May Wagner
Mrs. Phoebe May (Oickle) Wagner, 69, of Sawyer Lane, Holden, Mass., died at her home September 14, 1950 She was born in Lower Northfield, the daughter of the late Joseph and Eliza Oickle, and had resided in Holden the past three years, having lived 21 years previously in Worcester, Mass.
She was the wife of Benjamin E. Wagner. Also surviving are a sister, Alice, Mrs. Nathaniel Lohnes of Upper Northfield; six sons, W. Mark, Carl F. and L. Maxwell, all of Mendon, Mass. Ralph O. of Holden, Earl R. and Glen O., both of Worcester, two daughters, Miss Neille M. Wagner, of Holden and Ethel A., wife of Joseph Gorski, of Worcester; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Death occurred after a short illness, and the couple had just celebrated their 50th Anniversary on September 1.
Funeral services were at the Miles Memorial Chapel in Jefferson, Mass., with Rev. Richard G. Preston, of All Saints Episcopal church of Worcester, officiating. Interment was in Grove cemetery.
Flowers and expressions of sympathy were numerous, and the Wagner family wish to thank all those who remembered them in their great loss.

Mrs. Lillie Bruhm
On July 20, 1965, the community of New Cornwall was saddened to hear of the passing of a dearly beloved friend, Mrs. Lillie Bruhm. She entered the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital on July 15, and although in failing health, her passing was sudden. Widow of the late Wilbert Bruhm who predeceased her in 1951, she was the daughter of the late William and Ellie Kaulback Banks. She was born at
Maplewood, Lunenburg County, May 15, 1885.
A dearly beloved mother, she is survived by two daughters, Marion (Mrs. Clarence Wagner), New Germany; Mabel (Mrs. Laurence Veinotte), New Cornwall; two sons, Murray, New Cornwall; and Maurice, with whom she resided at the old homestead. One daughter, Mildred (Mrs. George Wentzell)
and an infant son predeceased her. There are 22 living grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. There is also a sister, Hannah (Mrs. Everett Wentzell), Maplewood. One brother, Arnold, predeceased her.
Mrs. Bruhm was a faithful and devoted member of the United Baptist Church and when health permitte a valued member of the church choir, Sunday School, and Women's Missionary Society. She was also president of the W.I.N.S. for
man years, and many in the community sought her guidance and help in many ways.
Funeral service was held on Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the New Cornwall United Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Eric Miner, Mahone Bay. The hymns were "Nearer, Still Nearer" and "Good Night and Good Morning." Pall bearers were six grandsons, Clarke, Brenton, and Gilbert Wagner, Roger and Lowell Wentzell, and Floyd Bruhm. Interment was in the Union Cemetery.
MURPHY, Irvin St. Clair - 85, Halifax, passed away at home on May 29, 2007. Born in Aylesford, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Charles and Emma (Steadman) Murphy. Irvin was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with the West Nova Regiment. He was employed at HMCS Dockyards and Irving Oil, from where he retired on January 1, 1989. He was a semi-professional gardener and took pride in his green thumb. He was an ardent cribbage player and was active in the Spryfield Young at Hearts Club, where he was good friends to all. Irvin is survived by his daughter, Carol (John) Keating; son, David (Debi); granddaughter, Jennifer (Ryan) Armitage; grandson, Jason; great-grandson, Dylan Armitage. He is also survived by his sister, Elsie Wagstaff, Aylesford; brother, Allison (Marg), Dartmouth; sister-in-law, Florence; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Gladys (Chapman); sisters, Dorothy McKay, Gladys Hiscoe, Edna Whynott, Mary Hiltz, Audrey Murphy; brothers, Clayton, Reginald, Harold, James and Charles. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601). Visitation will be held from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, June 3, with a memorial service to follow in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Patricia Malin officiating. Family flowers only. BEZANSON (Acker), Shirley Nancy - 67, Toronto, formerly of Annapolis Valley, passed away December 18, 2001, in Toronto. Born in Windsor Forks Road, Lunenburg Co., July 3, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Ralph H. Acker and Violet L. (Bezanson-Acker) Young. She moved to Toronto in May 1955 and made her home there until 1961. She lived in different places in Nova Scotia until 1982, when she moved back to Toronto. Surviving are daughters, Valerie, Toronto; Joyce, Kingston, Ont.; sons, Russell and Steven, Toronto; Timmy Whynott, Greenwood; sisters, Ruth Veinotte, Princedale, Annapolis Co.; Joyce (Harold) Beals, Paradise; brothers, Russell (Barb) Acker, Middleton; Donald (Diane) Penny, Porters Lake; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton Bezanson; partner, Milton Whynott; sister, Jean Deyotte; two grandchildren. Funeral service was held in Bernards Funeral Home, 2960 Dufferin St., Toronto. Burial in Richmond Hill. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
WEST BROOKLYN - Alden Lesley Keddy, 63, died Saturday at home. Born in West Brooklyn he was the son of Evelyn (Pinch) and the late Norman Keddy. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Wolfville Branch 74 Royal Canadian Legion. Surviving besides his mother are three daughters, Mrs. Betty Lou Fuller, Mrs. Virginia Bell, and Faye (Mrs. Cornell Kolybaba); all of Toronto; two brothers Grant, Wallbrook and George, New Minas; five sisters, Mildred, New Minas; Gladys (Mrs. Harold Hancock) and Leona (Mrs. Malcolm Duncan), both of Greenwich; Dorothy (Mrs. Gerry Bezanson), Coldbrook; Lexie (Mrs. Hugh Mullane) Bedford; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Marjorie Wiffles.??? The body is at the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville, where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Neil Price officiating. Interment will be in West Brooklyn Cemetery.

DEYOTTE, Jean Elizabeth - 66, Simpsons Corner, Lunenburg Co., died January 23, 1999, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Lake Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Violet (Bezanson) Acker. Surviving are her husband, Jim; daughters, Barbara, Victoria; Shannon, Bridgewater; son, Michael, Auburndale; sisters, Shirley, Toronto; Ruth, Annapolis Royal; Joyce, West Paradise; brothers, Donald, Porters Lake; Russell, Middleton; three grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, memorial service 11 a.m. Tuesday, both in Sweeny's Funeral chapel, Bridgewater. No flowers by request. ACKER, Russell David "Russ" - 70, Middleton. Our loving devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away in the arms of his loving wife on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, after being diagnosed with cancer. Born in Springfield, he was a son of the late Ralph and Violet (Bezanson) Acker. He was a licensed mechanic and worked for Thompson's Transfer. Russell was known for his spry personality and humour. He lived to love and laugh with his family, and most of all, his great-grandchildren. He loved fishing, and had a great passion to help others and advice for all who would listen. He was very appreciated by those who knew him from the Multi Addiction Centre, North Kingston, where he volunteered his knowledge and time for those living "one day at a time". He is survived by his loving wife, the former Barbara Freeman; four wonderful children, David Acker (Dominic Caldwell), Middleton; Sandra (Harold) White, Nictaux; Mike Acker (Bonnie McCullough), Nictaux; Cindy (Alan) Burns, South Farmington; grandchildren, Bradley (Melissa) White, Amanda White, George Burns, and Raymond Burns; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Morgan White, Brady White; sisters, Ruth Veinotte, Bridgetown; Joyce Beals, Paradise; Donny Penny, Porter's Lake; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his youngest son, Roger Acker; sisters, Jean Deyotte, Shirley Bezanson, and stepfather, Roger Young. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, June 29, in Middleton Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 30, Rev. Leon Langille officiating. ZINCK, Ethelyn Grace - 79, Harbour View Haven Home For Special Care, Lunenburg, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at the home. Born in Newburne, she was a daughter of the late Allister and Cora (Demone) Joudrey. She lived in Walden all of her married life and later moved in 1976 to Lilydale. She was an adherent of St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg where she was a member of the Ladies Aid of the Church. She is survived by sisters, Vera (Mrs. Carl Knock), Lower Rose Bay; Mrs. Jean Tanner, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Josiah Zinck; sisters, Minnie Zinck, Margaret Oxner, Mary Zinck, Marguerite Zinck, Florence Conrad, Hazel Poltzen; brothers, Percy, William, Thomas, Laurie and Guy. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, 3 Hwy., Lunenburg. The family have requested no visitation at the funeral home. Steward James Haines, formerly of Farmington and New Germany, the past several years of Martin's Brook, passed away at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, on Saturday evening, June 9, 1984. Born in Farmington, Nova Scotia in 1894, he was a son of the late Stephen and Alice (Langille) Haines. He was a member of the Baptist Church in New Canada, a former member of the Orange Lodge, and past master of Hillcrest Lodge, No. 93, A.F. and A.M., past grand steward of Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia. He was a past high priest in 1954 of LaHave Chapter No. 15, Royal Arch Mason and past grand royal arch captain of Grand Chapter of Royal Arch of Nova Scotia. He was a member of Mount Zion Preceptory, No. 73, Kentville, a knoble of Mystic Shrine Club, Bridgewater. He has been a member of the New Horizon's Senior Citizens Club, New Germany. He is survived by a half-brother, Waldo, Martin's Brook. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Sarah Burns, and his second wife, the former Lillian Giles; and a brother, Harold.
TANNER, Jean Freda - 90, Lunenburg, died Thursday, November 13, 2007, in Northwood Manor, Halifax. Born on October 13, 1916 in Newburne, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Allister Eri Joudrey and Cora Adelaide (Demone) in their family of 14 children. A resident of Lunenburg, she was a member of St. John's Anglican Church and the Ladies Aid. Predeceased by her husband and best friend, Edison C. Tanner "Eddy", she is survived by her son, Gary (Cheryl); sister, Vera Knock, Lower Rose Bay; nieces, Brenda, Carolyn, Mona, Nancy; nephew, George. Sincere and heartfelt thanks are offered to the staff of Northwood Manor for the splendid care and concern she received where, no doubt, she will be well-remembered for her "conducting", energy and happiness. TANNER, Edison Clyde - Lunenburg, born March 12, 1913, died September 17, 1999. Born in Blue Rocks, Lunenburg Co., a son of James Freeman and Emma Tanner. He was a shoemaker, draftsperson and chief estimator with Atlantic Bridge Company. He was a model ship builder and woodcrafts person and a chimer and choir member of St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg. He cherished his pet dog, Chico. Survived by his wife, companion and friend Jean Tanner, resident of Northwood Manor and his son Gary and his spouse Giselle. Graveside funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. No flowers by request.
