Carmon "Leroy" Brown
1938-2011
Carmon "Leroy" Brown 72 years of Springhill, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Nappan. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late George H. and Blanche E. (Piers) Brown and is the last surviving member of his immediate familyHe served with the Canadian Armed Forces for 21 years achieving the rank of Sergeant and Corrections Canada working in Dorchester and Springhill for another six years. Leroy was a member of St. Andrews Wesley United Church, Springhill; Laurie Lodge # 70 and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion # 17 for over 35 years. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons.
He will be sadly missed by his wife the former Marie E. Spence; sons, David (Debra) Brown, Lethbridge, Alberta, Michael (Treena Larson) Brown, Enfield and Peter Brown, Vancouver, BC; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister in law, Shirley Brown, Springhill; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Lynn Brown.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visitation will be held from 1 - 3 pm, Friday, June 3, 2011 followed immediately at 3:00 pm by a Memorial Service with The Reverend Wayne McCarther officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
If so desired, donations in Leroy's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation; Brain Injury Association; ALS Society or a charity of choice.
Janice Marie Boss
1932-2011
Janice Marie Boss 79 years of Springhill, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2011 in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the Late John "Jack" William and Catherine Eliza (Burton) Beaton.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, CWL and St. Vincent De Paul Society. She enjoyed reading and her family especially her grand and great grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 60 years, Harold "Tiny" Boss; son, John "Jack" (Brenda) Boss, Springhill; daughters, Patricia "Patti" (Robert) Martini, Dartmouth, Susan Lowther, Raylene (Robert) Martin and Holly Jo (Ken Gilbert) Rushton all of Springhill; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Laura Elizabeth Casey and son-in-law, Roy Lowther.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visitation will be held 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 Wednesday. Funeral Service held 11:00 am, Thursday, June 9, 2011 in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill, with Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date.

Charles E. Dunlop
1934-2011
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear brother, Charles Elmer Dunlop, age 77 of Springhill and formerly of Maccan, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on June 8, 2011.
Born in Maccan, he was a son of the late Cecil and Effie (Collins) Dunlop.
Charles was a former employee of the Department of Highways. He was a avid sports fan.
He is survived by 9 sisters, Mary, Maccan, Judy Fawcett, Sackville, NB, Diane (Mel Willis), Middleton, NS, Valerie (Doug Atkins), Amherst, Karen (Peter Delong), Fredericton, NB, Lillian Farrell, Springhill, Rhoda (Ron Bugley), Tidnish, Irene McCormick, Woodstock, NB and Kathy (Ron), Amherst; 3 brothers, Mike and Kenny, both of Maccan and Ernie (Mary), West Amherst. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Charles' remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777) from where the funeral service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 2 pm. Burial in the Maccan Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
Family flowers only, donations to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
Muriel F. (Paczkowski) Stuart
1921-2011
The death of Muriel Frances (Paczkowski) Stuart, 90, occurred suddenly at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 8, 2011. Born in Middle Sackville, she was a daughter of the late H. Roy and Mabel (Amos) Estabrooks.
Muriel had been a 60 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Sackville and a lifelong member of the Middle Sackville Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafts and puzzles and as a fulltime homemaker throughout her life, had taken a keen interest in her family. She loved cats and had an amazing green thumb.
She will be sadly missed by two daughters, Madeline (David) Legere of Moncton and Florence (Stanley) Bowser of Fredericton; one son, Walter (Pamela) Paczkowski of Barrie, ON; six grandchildren, MIchelle, Andrew, Lori, Katie, Justyn and Meghan; four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren and a sister, Margaret Patterson of Sackville.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her step-mother, Florence Estabrooks, her first husband John Paczkowski in 1986 and her second husband, Howard Stuart in 1992.
Muriel's arrangements have been entrusted into the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) from where visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Saturday, June 11, 2011. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 2 pm. Pastor Vernon Vickruck officiating. Following the service Muriel will be laid to rest in the Four Corners Cemetery. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Sackville will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Saturday at 7 pm.

Edith Mary Doncaster
1938-2011
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edith Mary Doncaster, 73, of Sackville at the Moncton City Hospital on Friday, June 10, 2011. Edith was a daughter of the late Emile and Helen (Thibodeau) Cormier.
Everybody loved Edith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and neighbour.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 56 years, Bliss Doncaster of Sackville; four sons, David of Sackville, Donnie (Alana), of Sackville, Kenny (Patricia) of Lloydminster, AB, Ian (Sharon) of Middleton; a daughter Susan (Norm) of Sackville; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Shaun Partridge, Lacey and Tessa Doncaster, Landon Long, Tyler and Makayla Doncaster; a sister, Phyllis Cormier, of Halifax; two special friends, Pauline Roberts and Joanne Bailie and many nieces and nephews.
Edith was predeceased by her parents.
Honoring Edith's request, her remains have been cremated under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, Sackville (364-1300). There will be no visitation or service.

Pamela Ann Black
1920-2011
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing on Saturday, June 11, 2011 of our cherished aunt, Pam Black. She is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Eleanor Black and five siblings; Mardie (Weldon), Laurie, Babs (Flood), Bill and Mary Hope, her twin.
A graduate of Mount Allison University and then employed in their French Department, she later founded Beachkirk Museum, initially located at Upper Cape, NB. The collection was then donated to The Westmorland Historical Society in Dorchester and is now part of the St. James Textile Museum.
Pam will be fondly remembered for her independent spirit, fascination and involvement with local arts and crafts. She enjoyed sharing her love and knowledge of nature with those who showed an interest in plants, dyeing yarns, spinning and weaving. Pam cared for a large and varying number of dogs and cats who brought her great joy throughout her life.
She will be sadly missed by many nephews and nieces and their families and will remain alive in their hearts.
In accordance with Pam's wishes, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) and her ashes will be interred at a later date with family and friends present.
Donation, if desired, can be made to a charity of one's choice.
Herbert Lowther
1921-2011
Herbert Aubrey Lowther, 90, of Springhill, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the comfort of his family on Saturday, June 18, 2011.
Born in Tidnish Cross Roads, Cumb. Co., N. S., he was a son of the Late James and Permilla (Thomas) Lowther.
Herbert served with the Royal Canadian Army during WW II overseas for three and a half years. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his friends and family.
He will be sadly missed by sons, Gerald Lowther and Wallace (Bessie) Lowther, both of Springhill; Gordon Lowther and Allan (Kathy) Lowther both of Ontario; daughters, Jean (Clayton) Brown, Amherst, Holly (Donald) Allen, Tatamagouche, and Connie Lowther, Oxford; brothers, Leonard (Avis) Lowther of Tidnish Bridge; sister, Beatrice (Douglas) Hawks of Amherst Head; 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife the former Margaret May Weeks; brothers, Robert, Lloyd and Major; sisters, Dorothy, Aminta and an infant sister Vivian.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford, (902 447 2167) where visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 2 pm from the Funeral Home, with The Reverend Chris Greer officiating. Burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Conrad Banks
1947-2011
Conrad Stuart Banks, age 64, of Nappan passed away on Monday, June 20 2011, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Lenely and Iola (MacPherson) Banks.
A self employed mechanic, Conrad learned much of his trade in the pits at the Daytona 500 in his teens, and was interested in Nascar throughout his life. Conrad could always be counted on when a friend needed help.
Conrad will be sadly missed by his daughter Joanna (Joe) Johnson-Russwurm of Mildmay ON; grandchildren, Kayla Johnson of Truro, NS, Dylan Johnson of Truro, NS, Emma-Sue Johnson of Mildmay, ON, and Megan Johnson of Mildmay, ON; sister, Cathryn (Guy) Williams of Windsor, ON; step-brothers, Garth Banks of USA and Douglas McKenzie of ON.
He was predeceased by a daughter Stephanie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong - Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-8777), from where visitation take place on Friday, June 24, from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the funeral home. Those who wish to make a donation in memory of Conrad may do so to the Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cumberland Regional Health Care, the V.O.N., Dr. Hazem Assis of Moncton, Dr. Troy Sitland of Moncton, Dr. Dean Harrison of Amherst, Dr. Carolyn Atkinson of Amherst, Dr. Scott Bagnell of Halifax, and Ms. Holly Chapman for the kind and thoughtful care they’ve shown Conrad and his family. They would also like to thank all of Conrad’s friends who visited him and helped to look after him while he was ill.
Helen Marie Calabrese
1918-2011
The death of Helen Marie Calabrese, 93, of Sackville, occurred at the Fundy Royal Manor, Hillsborough, on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Born in Minto, she was a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Rebecca (Higgins) Branscombe.
Following the death of her husband in 1966, Helen came to Sackville in 1968, where she lived until 1992. A kind and generous woman, Helen was a marvelous homemaker, seamstress, and pianist. She devoted much of her time to volunteering, was an active member of the Fort Beausejour Chapter of the IODE, and the Sackville ACW. She was affiliated with St. Paul's Anglican Church, Sackville.
She was a friend to everyone and will always be remembered for her elegance and grace.
Helen will be sadly missed by her daughter Pam MacLean, Antigonish; 3 grandchildren, Nathaniel, Emis and Tobias; two great grandchildren, Faith and Donard; two brothers Harry Branscombe, Chipman and Kenneth (Ruth) Branscombe, Sussex; as well as several nieces and nephews and her very close friend Olga (Donald) Hamm and family.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Edmund.
Helen's arrangements have been entrusted into the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (364-1300) from where visitation will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 from 10 am until the time of the funeral at 11 am. Archdeacon Reginald Stockall officiating. Following the service the burial will be held in Minto, NB at the St. Michael's Church Cemetery.

Robert Bourque
1933-2011
The death of Robert Bourque, 77, of Shemogue, occurred at the Dr. Georges L Dumont Hospital on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Born in Grande-Digue, Robert was a son of the late Philip and Irene (Gallant) Bourque.
Robert had been a life-long steelworker. He was the owner and manager of Cap-Pele Reinforcing Steel. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 41 years, Rosella (Jacob); three sons, Daniel (Paula), Denis (Jennifer), and Marc (Debby) all of Cap-Pele; three grandchildren, Yan, Colin, and Haly; seven brothers, Ulysse (Liliane), Shediac, Clarence (Marguerite), Shediac, Emile, Little Cape, Philip (Gloria), Shemogue, Simon (Diane), Grand-Barachois, Eloi (Sara), Shemogue, Guy (Ida), Cap-Pele; five sisters, Adeline (Norman) Dollard, Scoudouc, Juliette (late Gerard) Lirette, Kitchener, Yvonne (Gerald) Lemieux, Sherbrooke, Valerice (Arcade) LeBlanc, Shemogue, and Claire Bourque of Shediac; many nieces and nephews as well as his many close friends.
Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by two sisters, Vitaline and Justine.
Honoring Robert's wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, Port Elgin (538-2241). There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:30 am from St. Timothy's Roman Catholic Church, Shemogue. Fr. Emery Brien officiating.
At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dr. Georges L Dumont Hospital Foundation, Heart And Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association (NB)
