HUDSON:

After a courageous battle with cancer, at her residence on Friday, June 22, 2001, Norma Marie Hudson, age 73, of Chatham. Born in Chatham in 1927, she was the daughter of the late Fredaline (Labadie) and Henry White. She will be sadly missed by two daughters, Suzanne and her husband Clinton Baylis, Pennie Baylis; and by three sons, Thomas, Timothy and his wife Sue, and Gary and his wife Stephanie, all of Chatham. Also sadly missed by 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. She was dear sister of Marlene (Mrs. John Larue), Joyce (Mrs. Richard Green), all of Ottawa, and Leo White of Chatham. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. The funeral service was held at the funeral home's chapel on Monday, June 25, 2001 with Pastor Art Hystek of The Cornerstone Church officiating. Burial was in St. Anthony's cemetery. Donations to The Prism Centre (formerly the Children's Treatment Centre) would be appreciated.

BALSYS:

At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Public General campus, Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, Bertha Balsys, at age 77. Loving wife of Stan Balsys of Chatham. Born in Chatham in 1924, daughter of the late Delia (Meyer) (1995) and Joseph "Dusty" Miller (1980). She will be sadly missed by three sons, Dale, Richard and Gary Moe; by two adoptive children, Kenneth MacInnis of Hamilton and James MacInnis of Chatham. Dear sister of Rita DeMeyers of Blenheim, Laura Cadotte of Chatham, Rose Mays and her husband Don of Lindsay, Edna Armstrong of Blenheim, Irene Smith and her husband James of Hamilton, Marie Abram and her husband Frank of Vancouver, Gerald Martin and his wife Irene of Chatham, and Archie Martin of Chatham; and by a sister-in-law, Veryln Martin of Chatham. She is predeceased by two sisters, Eva Lalonde, Dorothy Evans; and by a brother, Orvil Martin (1999). Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South, from where the funeral service was conducted in the chapel on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001 at 10 a.m. with Father Gregory Bonin of St. Joseph's Church officiating. Cremation followed, with burial of ashes with her parents, to take place at a later date. Donations to the Diabetes Association appreciated.

BARCZ:

Father Adam Barcz, S. Ch., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001 as the result of a sailing accident in Poland. Loving son of Stefania and Klemens Barcz of Szczecin, Poland. Born on Jan. 23, 1959 in Resko, Poland. Ordained to the priesthood on May 20, 1986 in Poznan. Former pastor's assistant in Stargard Szczecinski and Wladysslawowo, Poland. Pastor of Our Lady of Victory in Chatham from 1991 to 1997, St. Stanislaus in Portland, Oregon, and Our Lady Queen of Peace in Calgary. A memorial service was celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Parish in Chatham, 490 St. Clair St., on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001 at 7 p.m. with The Most Reverend Bishop Sherlock of London officiating. Bishop Sherlock was the Celebrant and the Homilist was Father Lance Magdziak. Donations in memory of Father Adam to the Polish Flood Relief Victims were made at the church Tuesday evening or by calling the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home at 352-5120.

BOROVICANIN:

At Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Public General campus, on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, Budimir "Bud" Borovicanin, age 83, of Chatham, beloved husband of Ljubica (Ljubicic). born in Serbia in 1918, son of the late Dostana (Rakic) and Maksim Borovicanin, he came to Chatham in 1950 and worked for the Chatham Water Commission until his retirement in 1982. A member of Br. 28 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Bud served with the Serbian King s Guards, with the Allied Forces during the Second World War, and was a member of St. Dimitrije Serbian Orthodox Church in Windsor. Budimir was able to enjoy the "Slava" of St. ILiya's Church in Eagle in his last week. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Nada and her husband Frank Dearlove of Calgary, Alberta, and Mary and her husband Brad Bishop of Chatham; by five grandchildren, Jillian, Jessica and Jaclyn, William and Peter; by a brother and sisters, as well as other relatives in Serbia; and by special nieces and a nephew in Windsor. He is predeceased by an infant son; and by other brothers and sisters. Mr. Borovicanin rested at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South, from where a private family funeral was conducted in the funeral home's chapel on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001 with Father Zoran Milosevic of St. Dimitrije Serbian Orthodox Church officiating. Burial took place in Maple Leaf cemetery , Chatham. Donations to The Lung Association appreciated.
