Hagerman - Dr. E. Stanley of St. Thomas, on Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 74th year. Dearly loved husband of Sybil (Rutley) Hagerman and loved father of Kathy of St. Thomas, Douglas Hagerman and friend Danielle Arsenault of Vancouver, Anne and her husband Dr. Cavan McHenry of London and Ellen of Ottawa. Loved grandfather of Hugh, Tom and Clare McHenry. Dear brother of John and his wife Barbara Hagerman of Toronto and Ellen and her husband Charles Low of Oakville and the late Dr. Fred Hagerman. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Dr. Hagerman was born in Belleville on April 2, 1930, the son of the late Stanley and Edythe (Moore) Hagerman. He graduated from Queens University in Medicine (M. D. C. M.) in 1953. He was a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Canada) (1957) and was a Member of the American College of Physicians. He received the College of Physicians and Surgeons Award created to honour physicians who demonstrate excellence (1998). The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon from First United Church. Rev. Roger Landell and Rev. Malcolm Rust officiated. Cremation followed. Flowers gratefully declined. The family would appreciate donations to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital or the U.W.O. Hendel - At St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, December 23, 2003, Maria Mary Hendel of Aylmer in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Martin Hendel (1997). Dear mother of Martin Hendel and wife Rosemarie of St. Thomas and Peter Hendel and wife Lynn of Brampton and step-mother to Katharina Ungar and Rosina Klein of Aylmer. Loving grandmother of Sandra Hanson and husband Sean, Martin and Stephanie Hendel, Peter Hendel and wife Ingrid and Jenifer Hendel. Also survived by a brother-in-law Peter Hendel in Austria and a number of step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister and a brother. Born in Burghalle, Romania, on Nov. 18, 1910, daughter of the late Martin and Katharina Hendel. She was a member of St. John s Lutheran Church and the German Canadian Club. Mary worked at Imperial Tobacco for a number of years. Friends were received at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held at St. John s Lutheran Church, Aylmer on Saturday, December 27, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Interment , Aylmer cemetery. Rev. Henrietta Donner, officiated. Prayers were held Friday evening at 8:00 p.m.
King - James Jim , in hospital, Smiths Falls on Saturday, December 27, 2003 James L. King at the age of 61. Beloved husband of 34 years to Brenda (Morenz) King. Loved and respected father of Aaron (Kelly) of Smiths Falls and Brett (Christina) of Mobile, Alabama. Step-son of Tony Dennis of Smiths Falls and predeceased by his mother Mina Dennis. Jim worked with the C.P.R. rail and the O.V.R. (Ottawa Valley Railway) in Smiths Falls as well as other towns and cities across Ontario throughout his career. Louws - John of St. Thomas, on Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Mary (Dekok) Louws and dearly loved father of Andy Louws of Keswick, Cindy and her husband Peter Tuininta, Alberta, Frank and his wife Helen Louws, North Carolina, Joanne and her husband Ken Jaarsma of B.C. and Nancy and her husband Henry Mostert of Ancaster. Sadly missed by 5 brothers and 3 sisters in Holland and by seventeen grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by a brother. John was born in Holland on February 5, 1933, the son of the late Andrew and Johanna Louws. He lived in Talbotville over 33 years and before that in Belmont 18 years. He was a Yardman at the Talbotville Livestock Exchange for 28 years. John was a member of the Fellowship Christian Reformed Church and the Full Gospel Businessmen. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas until Monday and then to the Fellowship Christian Reformed Church for funeral service. Interment to follow in South Park cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the St. Thomas Community Christian School (formerly Ebenezer).
Lunn - Bernice Lenora of St. Thomas, on Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Fenwick McCarthy and the late Roy Lunn. Dear step-mother of Ken and his wife Marlene Lunn of St. Thomas, Ray and his wife Doreen Lunn of R.R. #2 Port Stanley, Ron and his wife Gail Lunn of R.R. #1 Fingal and Linda and her husband Charlie Clark of Port Stanley. Dear sister of Ruby Hayman of Aylmer and Mildred and her husband Wilf Slaght of St. Thomas. Sadly missed by 12 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Bernice was born in Aylmer on March 18, 1915, the daughter of the later Harry and Pearl (Powers) Perry. She lived in this area all her life and worked at Elgin Manor a number of years. Rested at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service was held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Interment followed in Aylmer cemetery. Lytle - Ruth Marion of Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, on Friday, December 26, 2003 at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 91st year. Dearly loved mother of Bill Johnston and his wife Ruth, Wayne Johnston and his wife Nancy and Jerry Johnston and his wife Helen, Carol Gauthier (Lytle) and her husband Jack and Patt Axson (Lytle), all of St. Thomas and the late Gary Ted Johnston. She was the last of her family. Predeceased by a brother Bill Hillman and 2 sisters Rena Mann and Ruby Lilawa. Sadly missed by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Ruth was born in Rodney on July 9, 1913, the daughter of the late James and Pearl (Page) Hillman. Predeceased by her husband Ted Johnston and Carl Lytle. The funeral service was held Monday afternoon from Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas. Interment followed in Fingal cemetery. Melville - Phyllis (Finlay) of St. Thomas, on Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at the Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, in her 80th year. Dearly loved wife of the late William Bill Melville and dearly loved mother of W. Fin and his wife Gail Melville of Burlington, Bev and her husband David Earl of Essex and mother-in-law of Patricia Melville of Vancouver. Dear sister of Amy Paton of Alyth, Scotland, Ian and his wife Freda Finlay of Dundee, Scotland and Cliff and his wife Margo Finlay of Wales. Loved grandmother of Amy, Beth, Susan, Sarah and Erin. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Phyllis was born in Dundee, Scotland on March 20, 1924. She came to Canada July 1, 1953. A private family service was held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Saturday morning. Cremation to follow. No public visitation.
