SARACENI, Nicola "Nick" - Suddenly at his residence, on Tuesday, September 23, 2003, in his 71st year, Nick died peacefully in his sleep. Nick, beloved husband of Wanda (nee Johnson). Devoted and proud father of Rosina Westenhafer (Grant), Jack Saraceni and Nick Saraceni Jr. (Tracey). Adored grandfather of Michelle, Kristina and Zachary. Dear brother of Antonio Saraceni, Lydia Stella and the late Maria, Adelia and Armando. Born in Italy in 1933 and immigrated to Canada in 1957, Nicola loved life and lived for his family and friends. He leaves behind many fond memories and smiles to continue his legacy. Friends will be received at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa Street South (at Westmount) 743-8900 from 7-9 p.m. tonight (Thursday) and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Parish, 55 Driftwood Drive. Interment in Williamsburg cemetery. THOMPSON, Ivy - On September 20, 2003, in her 90th year. Loved mother of Pat and her husband Richard Kimber. Dear grandmother of Michael Whaley (Josie), Lynn Whaley (Walter Gibson) and Lisa Whaley-Chase (Jeff). Proud great-grandmother of Adam, Sara, Eric, and Spencer. Predeceased by her husband, Ernest (1984). Will be lovingly remembered by her sisters in England and other relatives in both England and the U.S. The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff at Sunnyside Home, Margaret Wing. WHETSTONE, Elmer Gordon - passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital. He was born 77 years ago in Kitchener, a son of the late Clarence & Annie (Searle) Whetstone. Elmer resided in Kitchener, and had been employed at Rumpel Felt Company for over 30 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 50 Kitchener for 40 years. Beloved husband of Meretta (Cripps) Whetstone for 57 years. Loving father of Robert and Ruby Whetstone of Strathroy, and Alan Whetstone and Nancy Firth of Wellesley. Elmer will be dearly missed by his 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Eunice Reist of Listowel, Nancy Seip of Waterloo and Roger Whetstone of Paisley. Predeceased by his brothers, Ronnie and Dan Whetstone; his sister, Mary Coole, his daughter-in-law, Donna Whetstone, and by his grandson, Scott Whetstone. Elmer's family will receive relatives and friends at the Peebles Funeral Home, 141 John Street, Atwood on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m, on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the funeral Home. Interment to follow in Elma Centre cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Grand River Hospital, Freeport-Union Terrace or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

SCOTT, Rev. Norman W. - Died Sept. 17, 2003 in Sidney, Vancouver Island, B.C. at age 79. Beloved husband of Joyce (MacMaster). Father of Laurie and Deanie Scott and Julie and Tom Markham, all of Edmonton, Alta. Survived by brother, Gordon of Cambridge. Predeceased by parents, Albert and Clara Scott; daughter, Carolyn and sisters, Myrtle Easton and Hazel Anderson. His ministry in the United Church carried him across Canada, retiring in Richmond, B.C. Cremation has taken place.

SHIELDS, Ruth - Of Elmwood, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital, on Tuesday, September 23, 2003. She was 61. Survived by husband John "Jack" Shields; sons, Jim Shields of Hanover, Dan and wife Brenda Shields of Walkerton; daughters, Carol and husband Herman Verdonk of Tiverton, Flora and husband John Becker of RR 3, Paisley, Jackie and husband Trevor Remers of Hanover, 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents and one brother.Visitation at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, today (Wednesday) from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a funeral service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Hanover cemetery. Memorial donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or the charity of one's choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

SHUH, Shirley Helen (Hilker) - Passed away, on Tuesday, September 23, 2003, in her 88th year, after a long struggle with MS. She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) of 58 years. Also survived by her daughter, Judith Karen Koenig and her husband Charles of Ayton; grandchildren, Dwight and Liza Koenig of Ayton, Vicki and Paul Gobbi of Guelph, Jacki Anoquot of Elmwood; great-grandchildren, Blaze, Carissa, Kurtis and Erica. Predeceased by a son, Douglas Barry and sister, Thelma; father and mother, Milton and Millie Hilker. Also survived by brother, Craig Hilker of Kitchener and five nieces and nephews. Shirley was a longtime member of the Missionary Church in Kitchener and more recently in Hanover.Friends are invited to share their memories of Shirley with her family at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, September 26th, 2003 at 11 a.m with Rev. Peter Gibbins officiating. Interment Woodland cemetery , Kitchener. TUSCH, Winnifred (Ella) - passed away peacefully, on Sunday, September 21, at the age of 86. Beloved wife of Joseph, with whom she recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Loving mother of Patti, Michael and his wife Lila. She will be missed by her three granddaughters, Amie, Melissa, and Courtney. Ella is also survived by her sisters, Sue Tessman (Cornelius), Ruby Hancock (Harold), Pearl Rogers (Charles), Bell Crocker (Tom); her brothers, Chester Murley (Shirley), Bob Murley (Iris), Joe Murley (Joyce) and Wallace Murley (Irene) and many nieces and nephews. Ella was predeceased by brothers, Levi, Willis, Sam, Gord and Ambrose and sisters, Jeanette and Julia. Ella's top priority was always her family. She loved cooking and baking and was an award winning knitter and crocheter. Ella spent many years as a supervisor at Zellers and after her retirement enjoyed getting together with friends she met there. She enjoyed Friday mornings at the Nattering Needles Knitting Group. She and Joe also enjoyed theatre, travelling and British comedy. Ella is resting at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home & Chapel, 51 Benton at Church St., Kitchener (742-4481) where visitation will be held today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be offered at 8:45 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Francis RC Church, 49 Blueridge Ave., Kitchener on Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at 11 a.m. with Father Paul Voisin CR officiating. Interment will be at Parklawn cemetery , Cambridge. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family. BADALI, Anthony - Passed away, peacefully, on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003. Anthony Badali, of Waterloo, in his 87th year, was survived by his wife, Prudence and son, Michael. A private family service was held and interment took place in Woodland cemetery. You may remember Anthony with an anonymous act of kindness to someone in need. This was Anthony's way of life. NOECKER, Morris - Of RR 2, Moorefield, passed away suddenly at his home, on Monday, September 22, 2003, in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Shirley (Cunningham) Noecker for 53 years. Dear father of Brenda and Chuck Gibson of Kitchener and Robert Noecker of Moorefield. Special grandfather of Brent and Tyler Gibson, both of Kitchener. Loving brother of Thelma Horne of Palmerston, Ralph and Ruth Noecker of Moorefield, Erla and Keith Dickson of Moorefield and Norma Wand of Palmerston. Brother-in-law of Glenn and Dorothy Dickson of Moorefield and Murray and Diane Cunningham of Burnaby, B.C. Fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Erlin and Ruby (Forrest) Noecker and one brother-in-law, Norman Horne. Morris was born in Maryborough township on January 31, 1924 and moved to Manitoba with his parents when he was three years old. During the Second World War he served with the Royal Canadian Navy on the Pacific Coast. He moved back to Maryborough township after the Second World War to join his parents, and soon after, married Shirley Cunningham on July 22, 1950. They farmed near Hollen for 6 years and then moved to the 8th concession of Maryborough, where they continue to farm today. Morris's family was a very important part of his life, as well as his love for animals and the good earth. The family will receive friends at the Heritage Funeral Home, Drayton, on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rev. Gord Dunbar will conduct the funeral service in Moorefield United Church on Thursday, September 25, 2003 at 2 p.m. Interment Bethesda cemetery. REAY, Dennis Howard - Suddenly, in Fergus, on Monday, September 22, 2003. Dennis Reay of Alma and formerly of Durham, in his 51st year. Loving husband and best friend of Vera (nee Seeger). Devoted and loved father of Sharlene (Mrs. Darin Farrelly) of Fergus. Dear brother of Larry (Pat) of Durham, David (Darlene) of Bewdley and Bonnie (Mrs. William Hamilton) of Oshawa. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews and their families, and his sisters-in-law, Carola Aginam and Faye Irwin. PITZ, Evelyn Belinda (nee Rideout) - With her family at her side, Evelyn has finally found peace. After a lengthy illness, she was freed of her pain on Thursday, September 18, 2003, at 5:50 p.m. Born in Newfoundland 76 years ago, she came to Ontario in 1948 and married Kenneth in 1953, who predeceased her in 1993. Loving mother of Wayne and his wife Joanne of Waterloo, Kathy and her husband Doug Dickinson of Waterloo, Pauline and her husband Brian MacPhee of Brantford. Cherished Gramma of Wayne Jr., Tiffany, Sarah, Amanda, Heather, Kayla and Corey. Also remembered by Ruth and Melbourne Pitz, Clifford and Erma Pitz, Delene Snowdon, Gerald and Violet Pitz, Audrey Suchostawsky, Eva Rideout and Lillian Rideout. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, brothers Shirley, Peter and Emerson, sisters Rhoda and Stella. At Evelyn's request, there will be no visitation. Cremation will take place. A memorial service to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 22 Willow Street, Waterloo, on Monday, September 22, 2003 (today) at 11 a.m., with Rev.
