SHOEMAKER, Clare - 1943 - 2004. Clare Shoemaker, beloved husband of Judy Shoemaker of Calgary, passed away suddenly, on Thursday, March 25, 2004, at the age of 60 years.Clare was born and raised in the Elora area of Ontario, leaving in 1962 to come west. He travelled to various parts of B.C. before arriving in Swift Current, Sask. in 1965 where he met his wife Judy. He has owned and operated his own business since 1966 going wherever there was construction and drywall jobs settling in Lethbridge, Alta. in 1970, and relocating to Calgary in 1978 where he has made his home since. Clare always gave one hundred and ten percent to his family and business and lived life to the fullest. Clare valued all the friendships he made over the years, with his many customers, suppliers, and business associates. Above all, Clare was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Clare will be sadly missed by his wife, Judy; his three sons and daughter-in-law, Lee, Trevor and Nathalie, and Ryan; his two little grandsons, Jakob, and Tyler. He is remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Joan, Ray and Barb, Lyal and Berna, Lorne and Donna, Stuart and Linda; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen Habermehl, Vera and Doug Ireland, and Eva and Don Schell; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Keith and Phyllis Hanna, Don and Toni Hanna, and Clarence and Lynda Hughes. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy and their children Patt and Bill Chivers, Neil and Donna Swayze and Kathryn and Carl MacLeod. Fondly remembered as Papa by his grandchildren, Jeremy and Tina Chivers, Ryan Swayze, Melissa and Shannon Patrick, Craig Swayze and Julie and Emmanual Nault and their daughters Caila Swayze and Aviah Chivers. Ron proudly served for his country in the Second World War and the Korean Conflict. He worked for the St. Lawrence Seaway in the Niagara Peninsula as a Carpenter Supervisor. Upon retiring from the Seaway, he and Dorothy spent many years in Florida and Jack Lake enjoying the good life. At Ron's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. However, Dorothy will receive her family and friends on Wednesday, March 31 from 2-3 p.m. in the Hearth Room at Linhaven.
