James Moir
1928 - 2003

Moir, James William - at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound, on Tuesday, July 8,2003. James William Moir, of Owen Sound in his 76th year. Loving husband of the former Jean Barnes. Father of James and his wife, Kelly, of Toronto; and Janet Moir-Brazeau and her husband, Robert, of Montreal. Survived by his sister, Margaret (Mrs. Robert Pettigrew), of Scotland. Predeceased by his parents, James & Flora Moir, and his brother William. At James' request there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A cedar tree will be planted at the funeral home in memory of James.

Ruby Sadler
1918 - 2003

Sadler, Ruby Hannah - Peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services Southampton on Tuesday, June 17, 2003. The former Ruby Malcolm, of Wiarton, in her 85th year. Treasured wife of the late James Sadler. Beloved mother of Shirley and her husband Glen Hodge, of Port Elgin; Myrtle and her husband, Ken Miller, of Dundas; Betty and her husband, John Miller, of Wiarton; Bob and his wife, Jill, of Kincardine; Bill and his wife, Jean, and Eunice and her husband, Carman Barfoot, all of Wiarton. Lovingly remembered by twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Sadly missed by seven sister-in-laws, and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by four brothers, three sisters, one daughter and one grandchild. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Wednesday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Ruby’s life will be conducted from the chapel on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock with visiting one hour prior to service. Rev. Ed Laksmanis officiating. Interment Eastnor cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Wiarton Hospital, Southampton Care Centre or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. A Red Maple tree will be planted at the funeral home in memory of Ruby.

Karole Hay
1943 - 2004

Hay, Karole Ann - Surrounded by her family, in Wiarton, on Tuesday, August 10, 2004. The former Karole Ann Buchanan, of Wiarton in her 62nd year. Loving wife of Winston. Cherished mother of Keir, of Wiarton; Todd and his wife Kerri, of RR#2 Hepworth; and Lorelei MacMillan, of Durham. Proud grandmother of Taylor, Torey, Reid, Trent, Derek, Brenden, Zach, Luke, and Jade. Survived by her father Dawson Buchanan, of Moncton, NB; her sisters, Karen and her husband Robert Arthurs, of Thornhill, and Janice and her husband Len Brunka, of Toronto; and her brother Bruce Buchanan and his wife Diane, of Moncton, NB. Karole's love of people is evident in her children and her tireless work with Bruce Peninsula Hospice. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., where a Vigil Service will take place at 8:45 p.m. Thence to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. Visiting one hour prior to Mass. Jake Miller
1993 - 2004

Miller, Jake Ryan - Team Captain for Cops for Cancer - Peacefully, in his 12th year, Jake Miller on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at home with his loving family and pets. Jake Miller resided at RR#3 Hanover with his loving father and brother. Jake will be forever missed by his father Bob and friend Laura; and his mother Beth, of Beamsville. Jake was the best friend and big brother to Myles, and special friend to Fateema. Never forgotten by his Papa and Dema, Leslie and Helen Miller, of RR#1 Elmwood (519) 369-3648; his great-grandmother, Florence Holley, of Hanover; and his grandmother, Carleen (and the late Wes Weppler), of Millet, AB. Jake will be sadly missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbours; especially by his Aunt Susie and Aunt Chell. Jake touched the lives of everyone he met. Friends may call at the Victory Fellowship Baptist Church, Hanover, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Jake's Life will be held from the church on Thursday at 2 o'clock. Roderick MacLeod
1933 - 2004

MacLeod, Roderick Gordon “Sir Rod” - Surrounded by his family, in Wiarton, on Friday July 16, 2004. Roderick Gordon MacLeod, of Oliphant in his 72 year. Predeceased by his wife Renee. Loving father of Laurie and Dave Huggett, Heather and John Haw, Tracey and Ray Bussink, and Joanne and Ed Seguin. Loving Papa of Dustin, Shoon, Lane, Samuel, and Nicholas. Special friend and Uncle of Dan MacLeod. Rod will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., where a Celebration of Rod's Life will be held in the chapel on Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Bruce Kennedy
1931 - 2004

Kennedy, D. Bruce - passed away peacefully at the Bruce Peninsula Health Services Wiarton on July 2nd, 2004 in the company of his wife of 52 years, Myrtle. Bruce will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, customers & business associates. Bruce was born Dennis Bruce Kennedy in Hamilton, Ontario & is predeceased by his parents Lorne & Beatrice Kennedy, 2 brothers (who died in infancy), and a number of aunts & uncles. Bruce owned & operated a successful building contracting business in the Sauble Beach area prior to his retirement in 2001. A Memorial Service to celebrate Bruce’s life will be announced at a later date and be held at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, which is handling cremation, memorial & related arrangements. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Wiarton Hospital, the Grey Bruce Health Centre Foundation, &/or the MRI Campaign would be appreciated by the family and may be made through the Thomas C. Spetko, William “Bill” - Suddenly, at Mountain Lake, on Saturday, June 12, 2004. William Joseph Spetko of Wiarton in his 84th year. Loving husband of the former Josie Brenner. Cherished father of Nancy and her husband Bob Bearinger, of Owen Sound; Aleck and his wife Donna, of Wiarton; and Michael, of Kitchener. Grandfather of Courtney, Sarah, William, Melody, Joshua, Jesse, Zachary, Delainey, and Robert. Predeceased by his parents, Aleck and Helen; and his sisters, Nellie and Ann. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Loving husband of the former Leonora Craig. Cherished father of Nicole Quackenbush and her partner Chris Schneider, of Orangeville; and Will Quackenbush and his partner Pam Brennan, of Guelph. Dear grandfather of Alexandra, Sarah, and Quinten Brother of Verna and her husband, Doug Parkin, of Ottawa; Jim and his wife, Marylou, and Lorne and his wife, Eileen, both of Acton; Larry and his wife, Edith, of Barrie; Vera Thomas, of Centreville, NB; and Edna and her husband, Alan Jones, of Hillsburgh. Sadly missed by his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Lorne and Nancy; and one brother, Roy. Friends may call at the THOMAS C. Hicks, Lois Levina - Suddenly, surrounded by her family, at Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound on Wednesday, May 5, 2004. The former Lois Finn of Sauble Beach in her 77th year. Friend and loving wife of 55 years to Jerry. Dear mother of Marea Ellis, of Lion's Head. Adored sister of William Finn and his wife Jean, Jack Finn and his wife Margaret, all of Burlington, Lorne Finn and his wife Myra, of St. Catharines, and the late Robert Finn and his wife Joyce, who resides in Scarborough. Lois is sadly missed by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and her close friends Lorraine Shears and Dorothy and James Theobald. At Lois' request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation. Arrangements entrusted to the THOMAS C. WHITCROFT FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519) 422-0041. Elgie, Allan G. - suddenly at the Wiarton Hospital on Friday April 9, 2004. Allan Garry Elgie of Sauble Beach in his 75th year. Surviving are his wife, the former Sylvia Mess; and two children, Kevin D. Elgie and his partner Shari, of Fort Nelson, B.C. and Pamela Monty and her husband, of Sandpoint, Idaho. Also survived by four grandchildren, Angela, Jake, Benjamin and Tanya; and nephew James Elgie and family, of Tilbury, ON. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Teresa; and his brother Gerald. Allan was a Past-President of the Optimist Club, former JayCee and former Lion’s Club member. A loving father and husband. A truly happy man. “Optimistic Al”!! According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family will gather for a private interment in Zion cemetery at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the THOMAS C.
