Miller, John Franklin - passed away after a valiant struggle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in the comfort of his family at home in his 72nd year. Husband and best friend of Betty (nee Sadler) for over 48 years. Father of Pam (David) Loughlean; of Cambridge; Becky (David) Madill, of Wiarton; and Amy (Brian) Booth, of Owen Sound. Proud Poppa of Alex, Gaby, Elizabeth and Jacklin Madill. Brother of Helen Kaufman, Tobermory; Glen and Floss Miller, Wiarton; Nora Couch, Owen Sound; and Marion Wright (Dick Wiens), St. Catharines. Brother-in-law of Shirley and Glen Hodge, Port Elgin; Myrtle Miller, Dundas; Bob and Jill Sadler, Shepard Lake; Bill and Jean Sadler, Eunice and Carman Barfoot, all of Wiarton. Lovingly remembered by Aunt Millie Lobban and Aunt Jean Armstrong; friends Gladys and Phyllis Jacklin, Murray and May Robins, Wil and Betty Hepburn; and his many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by daughter Debbie; brothers Harold Jr. and Ken; parents Capt. Harold and Lavina Miller; and in-laws Jim and Ruby Sadler. John was a teacher and Principal in Bruce County for over 33 years and was Principal at Bruce Peninsula District School, Lion's Head, Chesley District High School and Wiarton District High School. He represented the teachers of Bruce County for over fifteen years at the provincial level of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation. John was a Worshipful Master in two Bruce District Lodges, and served as the president of the Ramoca Shrine Club in Owen Sound, as well he was Worthy Patron of Georgian Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and a proud member of the Amabel Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. He was elected Bruce District Deputy Grand Master in 1996. John was recognized as a 33rd degree Honourary Inspector General of Scottish Rite Masonry in 1999. He had been active in the United Church and community organizations and was a director with the Chippewas of Nawash Post Secondary Scholarship Foundation. Visitation will be at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St. Wiarton (519)534-5341 on Tuesday, July 30th from 7:00 to 9:00 and Wednesday, July 31st from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00. Georgian Chapter #186 O.E.S. will hold a memorial service at 6:45 pm on Tuesday July 30th, and Cedar Lodge #396 will hold a Masonic Memorial Service at 6:30 pm on Wednesday July 31st. A funeral service for John Miller will be held at St. John's United Church, Wiarton on Thursday, August 1st at 2 pm. In lieu of floral tributes donations to the following charities would be appreciated, Shriners Hospital for Children (Montreal); Children's Hospital (London HSC), or Bruce Peninsula Hospice Inc.. Cremation with internment in Eastnor cemetery at a later date.

Halls, Dorothy - of Sauble Beach passed away gently in her 99th year May 14, 2013. Loving wife and best friend to the late James Kenneth "Ken" Halls (2003). She is survived by her children, Ken and Susan; and also 7 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren. Dorothy lived a full and healthy life, living at Sauble during the summer and Arizona during the winter. A public memorial service will be held in the chapel of the THOMAS C.
