CAPES:

At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (Public General) on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, James Wesley Cape, age 93, of Chatham-Kent, husband of the former late Lucy Anne Primeau. Born in Chatham in 1908, son of the late Mary (Padbury) and Edwin Cape, James worked for the Ministry of Transportation for many years before retiring in 1972. He will be sadly missed by his children, Sister Ann Louise Cape C.S.J., and Bob and his wife Jane Cape, all of Chatham; by his three granddaughters, Janice and her husband Mitch Robinson, Anne and her husband Don Heathcote, and Colleen and her husband Mike McIlmoyle; and by six great-grandchildren, Chris, Jasmine, Erin, Elliot, Conner and Kate. The last surviving member of his family, he his predeceased by his brothers, Charles, John, Edwin, George, Frank and Clarence; and by sisters, Gertrude, Beatrice, Grace, Emily and Helen, as well as by infant twin siblings. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002 at 11 a.m. in St. Ursula's Church. Parish prayers were said at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8. Burial was in St. Anthony's cemetery. Donations to the Therapeutic Garden at Copper Terrace or the Chatham Outreach for Hunger would be appreciated.

CHARRON:

At the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Public General campus, on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, Anthony "Tony" Isador Charron, age 69, of Chatham, husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (McComb) Charron. Born in Chatham in 1932, son of the late Julie Richie and George Charron. He will be sadly missed by four daughters, Julie Charron, Kathleen Kasper, Eva Charron and Lila Marie Charron. Also by 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. The chapel service was held on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Father Greg Bonin officiating. Burial was in Maple Leaf cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

CHENEY:

(Written by her own hand). Paula Genevieve Cheney, only daughter of J. Edward Taylor (1958) and Allie O'Connor (1965), passed away at St. Andrew's Residence on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002. She was a legal secretary for many years. At her request, there will be no funeral home visitation, and cremated remains will be buried at a later date. Survived by two sons, Paul Cheney and his wife Donna of Chatham, and Marc Cheney and his wife Lorraine of Mississauga. Also survived by her brother, John Ford Taylor and his wife Barbara; daughter-in-law Mary Wilcox; and sister and brother-in-law Audrey and Abe Firth of London. Grandchildren Meghan Cheney of Whistler, B.C., Lauren Remington, Rhian Cheney and Graeme Cheney of Chatham, and Sean Cheney of Mississauga. Predeceased by brothers Ted (1987), (Peggy Burns), Pat (1988) (Jo Ireland) and Dan (1991) (Grace Arnold). Donations to Geranium House would be appreciated by her family. A memorial mass will be announced later. Arrangements were entrusted to the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South.

HAYNES:

Peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, Sarnia, on Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, Mary "Helen" Elizabeth Haynes, age 89, of Chatham, beloved wife of the late Frederick Haynes (1960). born in North Bay, Ont. in 1912, daughter of the late Annie (McKee) and Edward Lyons. Helen was a separate school board teacher, retiring in 1972. She was also a member of the Altar Guild, Catholic Women's League, the Legion of Mary and the Theresians. Helen will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She is predeceased by three sisters, Mary Lyons, Teresa McMahon, Jean Sloan; by four brothers, Michael, Frank, John Lyons and Msgr. Edward Lyons; and by two nephews, Ed and Mark McMahon. Friends and relatives called at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. South. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Parish prayers were said at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery , North Bay. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
