Peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2003 a very dear and special aunt and sister passed away at Birchwood Terrace in Kenora, Ontario. Tod, affectionately called by many who knew her was born December 23, 1916 and resided in Kenora until her death.
She was pre-deceased by her father (Marshall), mother (Edna), 3 sisters Evelyn, Grace and Joan, 2 brothers Russell and Charlie.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Vivian (Kenora), Melba (Surrey, BC) and Mildra (London, ON) nieces Marilyn, Maxine, Dianne, Kathy and Kathleen, nephews Jim, John, gordon, Randy and Bob also great nieces and great nephews.
Tod was a gentle, kind and loving person. She had a warm smile and a kind word for all who knew her. Many times you would find her in town chatting to someone that she knew. Although Tod never married she took an interest in the lives of her nieces and nephews and their families. One of Tod's favorite things she enjoyed doing before her eyesight started to fail was knitting. We will treasure our memories of her and will miss her terribly.
The family would like to thank the staff at Birchwood Terrace and Susan Miclash for the love and care that was shown to this very special lady. Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held at a later date with internment at the Kenora cemetery.
To Those I Love and Those Who Loved Me
When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
you mustn't tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave to you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
but now it's time I travelled on alone.
So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must;
then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for awhile that we must part,
so bless the memories within you heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on;
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you can't see me or touch me,
I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart,
you'll hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way, alone
I'll greet you with a smile and say, "Welcome Home".
"We will miss you Tod,
and you will be in our hearts forever.
