Ralph Henderson Steward

Born May 5, 1908, passed away quietly on September 23, 2003 in Nanaimo following a brief illness.
Ralph was born in Winnipeg where he remained until moving to BC in 2001. He worked for many enjoyable years as an accountant for Toothill Greeting Cards and later for GSW Home Service. Ralph spent many hours golfing in summer and curling in the winter. He was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge groups. Ralph was a long-time member of Westminster United Church where he served as Treasurer for 22 years. His association with the church was extremely important to him and he cherished the many long-lasting friendships which he developed over the years at Westminster.
Ralph will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Lila of 62 years; his son, Neil (Margaret) of Los Angeles and his daughter, Claire (Rick) of Nanaimo, BC. Ralph is also survived by four grandchildren- Michelle, Megan, Brent and Shannon.
A Memorial Service will be held at Westminster United Church on Friday, October 3, 2003 at 11:00 am.

Fred was raised on a farm in Colquhoun, (near Williamsburg, Ontario). In 1947 he moved to South Mountain with his wife Anita where they purchased a general store. They laid the foundation of Weagant Farm Supplies in 1953. Fred's devotion to family and business was inseparable. He took enormous pride in both and his lifetime work evolved into one of Eastern Ontario’s largest farm equipment dealerships with stores in South Mountain, Winchester and Brockville.
Fred will rest at the Byers Funeral Home, Church Street, South Mountain, (613-989-3836) from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday; 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, High Street, Morrisburg on Thursday. August 7, 2003 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Lawrence Valley Union cemetery. ANDERSON, DR. RICHARD (RICK) --It Is with great sadness that the Anderson family announces the death of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He died suddenly on Monday, July 28, 2003, at the HDG Hospital, Hotel Dieu site, surrounded by loving family and friends. Late of St. Joachim. Husband and best friend of Judy for 35 years, he is also survived by two sons, Joshua (Josh) and Debbie of Tecumseh; Joel and Jessica of Calgary; mother Eileen Anderson of Lambeth; four grandchildren, Emily, Jaime, Tristan and Alison of Tecumseh; sister Judy and husband Dan Kramer of LaSalle; nephew Mitchell; and sister-in-law Alison Patch of Bums Lake B.C. He was predeceased by son Jason (1991); father Raymond; brother Warren; and his Mother-in-law and father-in-law Reg and Emily Gray. Rick, S3, will be missed by a wide circle of friends and patients who he attended to with great skill, dedication and compassion. He was a highly-respected general and vascular/thoracic surgeon in Windsor hospitals for nearly a quarter of a century. He served two terms as chief of surgery at Hotel Dieu Hospital and a term as Chief of the Hotel Dieu Trauma Team. He and his wife Judy and their young family of three boys moved to Windsor In 1979 after graduating from medical school at the University of Western Ontario and doing his surgical residency at various London hospitals. He was the pioneer in Windsor for the laproscopic procedure for gall bladder surgery and later trained many other surgeons in the procedure which is now -common place in the profession. While attending high school, he was a founding member and lead guitarist in the rock band London Set which was popular throughout southern Ontario in the 1960's. He was a member of Beach Grove Golf Club where he enjoyed both golf and curling and was also an avid boater and fisherman. But most of all he loved being With family and friends where his sense of humor and zest for life were Infectious to all around him. Visiting Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service Will be held on Friday, August 1, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at The Marcotte Funeral Home and Chapel, 12105 Tecumseh Rd, Tecumseh (735-2830). Dear mother of Richard and wife Myrna, Ray and friend Juliet Munroe, Denis, Annette Phillips and friend Chuck Solly, Jerry and wife Deborah and Joe and wife Colleen. Sadly missed by fourteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Loving sister of Bernard Parent and Claire Fournier. Loving father of Richard and wife Fran of Pierrefonds, Quebec. Dear "Pepe" of Katherine and husband Andrew Hirsh of Durham, NC, Anthony and wife Nathalie and Bruce, all of Montreal and great grandchildren Laura, Cameron, Alexander, Isabelle and Christopher. He was predeceased by two sisters Ann Cross, Evelyn Merlo and three brothers Roy, Victor and William Merlo. Mr. Merlo was Vice President of Sterling Construction and President of Sterling Building Materials until both companies were sold to Lake Ontario Cement Company in 1970. He was a member of Beachgrove Golf and Country Club, Windsor Yacht Club, a life member of K of C 3rd Degree Bishop John T. Kidd Council 4924, 4th Degree Dean Wagner Assembly, Order of the Albambra and Past President of the Windsor Construction Association.
