Former Strathroy councillor Ross Kelly died in London on January 25, 2000. He was 77 years of age. He was first elected to town council in November 1997, but had to resign in September 1998 due to health problems.
Lorne Edward Freele Wyatt of RR 6, Strathroy, died on Jan. 27, 2000 at the age of 85. He leaves his wife Beulah (Whittle) Wyatt, three sons, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service for Helen Brouwer of Strathroy was held on Sat., Jan. 22, 2000. She leaves her husband Ted, two children, and nine grandchildren. Mrs. Brouwer was the owner of Brouwer Textiles in Strathroy.

Funeral service for Howard Alexander McLean of RR 1, Melbourne, was held on Jan. 7, 2000 at the Melbourne United Church. He leaves his wife Anne (McGill), four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Mr. McLean served as a Middlesex County School Board trustee for over 30 years.
Funeral service for Johannes (John) Arnold Dortmans of Strathroy was held on Jan. 10, 2000. He leaves his wife Nellie (Peters) Dortmans, eight children, and 29 grandchildren.

Funeral service for Olive Louise (Wardell) Currie of Craigwiel Gardens Nursing Home, Ailsa Craig, was held on Dec. 17, 1999. She leaves four children, 10 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service for Scott Brodie of Strathroy was held on Dec. 11, 1999. He leaves his wife Susan, and three children.
Funeral service for Dorothy (Calcutt) Evans of Strathroy was held on Dec. 10, 1999. She leaves her husband Bryan Lumley, two children, and two grandchildren.
Funeral service for Helen Levenia (Wyatt) Payne of Strathmere Lodge was held on Dec. 13, 1999. She leaves three children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A well-known former resident Strathroy died last week. Fred Brown, who called Strathroy home for 40 years, died at his home in Bocabec, New Brunswick. He was 85 years of age. Mr. Brown was a life member of the Strathroy Lions Club and was involved in raising funds for many worthy causes. For many years he wrote a column for The Age on activites at the local golf club called "Off the Tee With FCB."
