Unexpectedly on Thursday February 23, 2012 at age 62. Beloved husband of Joyce Storey. Loving father of Tania Morrison and Veronica Morrison (Ken Preston). Cherished grandfather of Amber, Keegan and Cohen. Loving brother of Mary Draper, Arlena Forbes and Glendon Morrison and predeceased by brother David.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Queesway-Carleton Hospital and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

Ethel Murray - 02/23/2012

passed away peacefully on February 22, 2012, at age 75, after a brief recurrence of cancer. Devoted wife of 53 years to Abe, beloved mother to Elisa (Ian Sutherland), Brian and Ian, proud bubby to Isaac Murray. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Fanny Levinson (nee Prusky). Ethel will be most remembered for her great kindness and the unwavering support and love she gave her family and friends. A graveside service will be held on Friday February 24, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Jewish Memorial Gardens, 2692 Bank Street, Ottawa. Shiva private at 2002-1500 Riverside Drive, Ottawa from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. To honour Ethel’s memory, contributions to Tamir would be appreciated.

Peacefully in hospital on Saturday March 10, 2012 at age 75. Beloved wife of Clarence. Loving mother of Paul (Grace), Gordon (Karen), Eric (Wendy) and Susan Cherished grandmother of Julie (Dave), Ryan, Kristine, Ben, Scott (Amanda), Gail, Ashley, Brett, Bailley Allan and the late Jennifer. and great-grandmother of Michael and James. Loving sister of Charlotte Lesway (Russell), Ellen Preece (Peter Barr), Harold Cavanagh (Margaret) and predeceased by brother Wallace (Hellen).

Peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2012, surrounded by his family, after a short battle fought with courage and dignity, age 70 years. Cherished husband and best friend of Gerrilyn (Larter). Beloved father of Courtney Moore (James). Dear brother-in-law of Dianne Larter. Knobby enjoyed a long and successful career with the City of Ottawa for 34 years, and was also proud of his association with the Ottawa Sooners for 11 years and the Ottawa Rough Riders for 9 years. He was fond of his beloved home Nova Scotia where he enjoyed many visits with friends and family. RIOPELLE, Teresa (nee Cavanagh)

It is with great sadness that the family of Teresa Catherine Riopelle (nee Cavanagh) announces her passing on February13, 2012, at the age of 78 years.

Teresa was born on August 14,1933 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to the late Dr. James and Bernice Cavanagh. She grew up in Aylmer, Quebec, where her father practiced family medicine and her mother was a nurse. Teresa was known by the nick-name of “Terry” and was the eldest of 5 children; late sister Patricia Finklestein, and late brother, Victor, Bill, and Margaret Bellefeuille

Terry was a passionate advocate of the welfare of animals and founded the Aylmer SPCA in 1977, where she was a Board Member until 2012. She was the former President of the Asticou Figure Skating Club, an active member of D’Arcy McGee’s Parent’s Committee, and avaliant union representative for several years at the House of Commons.

Terry’s greatest accomplishment was her 5 children and 3 grandchildren that she adored, cherished and supported. Terry leaves behind her loving husband, Raymond, of 56 years, her eldest daughter, Catherine (late Roger Bernatchez) of Calgary, late William (Marie-Claude Landry) of Ottawa, Karen(Robert Belanger) of Duncan, James of Brandon, and Teresa-Anne of Aylmer. Much-loved grandma of Anik Bernatchez (Jason Brown), Joshua Belanger, and Jonathan Riopelle. She will be greatly missed by fur friends,Keegan and Kirby, who affectionately knew her as grandma.

Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue, (at Richmond Road), on Thursday, February 16 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Mary's Church, (Bayswater at Young) on Friday at 10:30am.

Barbara Elizabeth Rowley
September 22, 1913 - February 18, 2012

Peacefully at home in Ottawa on February 18, 2012 in her 99th year. Predeceased by her beloved husbands Air Commodore John G. Stephenson and Major General Roger Rowley. Lovingly remembered by her sons Michael (Barbara) and John (Gretta) Stephenson; and her grandchildren Andrew and John Stephenson; Rebecca Phillips; her stepchildren Roger Rowley and Andrea Rowley Panet and her step grandchildren children Deidre (Derrick Francis) and Margo (Chris Ward). Barbara touched so many people with her wonderful sense of humour and her wise outlook on life. She was an active golfer, skier, and the Canadian Women's Canadian Skeet Shooting Champion in 1957. The family wishes to thank Dr. Douglas Bishop for his care and support.

A Memorial service will take place Saturday, February 25 at 11am at the Church of St. Bartholomew, 125 MacKay Street, Ottawa followed by a reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind

Peter Kirk Sinclair
Veteran WWII

On Saturday March 10, 2012, after an extraordinary and fulfilling life, Peter Kirk Sinclair passed away surrounded by his loving daughter and friends, at the Ottawa General Hospital. Born in Verdun, Montreal on May 23, 1922; he was the son of the late Peter and Molly Sinclair. Beloved husband of the late May DeWolfe; father of Shawne Sinclair (Dino De Simone); step-father of John DeWolfe (Maureen). Peter will be greatly missed by his special friends and the caregivers from Homewatch who provided all his special care. Peter was a WWII Officer; he flew as a navigator on a Lancaster aircraft with the RCAF. Peter maintained a lifelong love of sports and played up to age 78. He was a member of both the Old Buzzards Senior Hockey Team and the Ottawa Olde Tymers. Peter was truly blessed and enjoyed a wonderful life. The profound love he felt for his wife and family was inspirational to his friends. Included among his favourite moments were reading, traveling to Greece (for 30 years) during the summer vacations when he and his wife were both University professors. Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial gathering at the Central Chapel of Hulse Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, (at O'Connor) on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Victoria Siok (nee Augustowska)

Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday February 29th, 2012 at the age of 88. Dearly beloved wife of the late Boleslaw Siok. Loving mother of Stanley (Grazyna ), Father Richard, Theresa, and Mary Ann. Cherished grandmother of Juliana. Dear sister of Marie Wielgopolski (Wladek), Stasia Augustowska and Annette Siluk (late Stefan). Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her brother Jan. Dr. James Soper - 02/28/2012
1916 - 2012

passed away peacefully on February 16, 2012 in his 96th year after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Jean (Morgan) and loving father of Nancy (Richard Stoneman), Mary (David Gladwin), Daphne (James Boyce), and Ian (Nicole Ratté). Cherished grandfather of Kathryn and John Stoneman. Born in Hamilton, Jim graduated from McMaster and Harvard (Ph.D 1943). He had a long career in botanical research as a professor of botany at University of Toronto and Chief Botanist, National Museums of Canada. In retirement, flowers and shrubs became the subject of his many paintings and drawings. A private memorial and cremation will be held in accordance with his wishes.

Robert Arthur "Art" Stedman - 03/09/2012

Peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday March 7th, 2012 at the age of 83. Survived by his loving son Bruce and daughter-in-law Jennifer MacLeod, and Brian and partner Marianne Vessel, and grandchildren Devon and Morgan. Predeceased by his loving wife Mary Margaret Stedman and parents Ira and Carrie Stedman. Art was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, his priority in life was first and foremost his family. He also cherished his close life long friends. Art will be dearly missed and remembered for his selflessness and his quiet, loving presence. Friends are invited to visit the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road), on Saturday, March 10th from 1pm until time of Service in the Chapel at 3pm. 1930-2012

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Irving Taylor on Friday, March 2, 2012, at the age of 81 after a brief but courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Beloved husband of the late Ethel Taylor. Loving father of Susan (Mark) and Brent (Risa). Dear grandfather of Stephanie (Aaron), Jennifer, Daniel and Shira. Much loved brother of Chick (Rose) and Malca (Chuck) and their families. He will be sadly missed by his devoted and loving friend Evelyn Greenberg. Irving and his brother Chick were founding owners of several IGA/Loeb food stores, which they operated with their families for many years. A special thank you to caregiver Melinda Falguera, Ephrem Weldehana, Dr. David Kalin, Amy Wong (CCAC), Dr. Katerina Spacek, the Palliative Care Outreach Program Team, and Dr. Tara Tucker and the team at Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital. Funeral Service will be held at Congregation Beth Shalom, 151 Chapel Street, Ottawa on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Jewish Memorial Gardens, 2692 Bank Street, Ottawa. Hedwig Tretter
(24 October 1929-8 March 2012)

TRETTER, Hedwig (née Fischer), faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on 8 March 2012, at the age of 82. Beloved wife of the late Alois Tretter. Dear mother of Norman Tretter (Doris) and Edna Du Broy (Robert). Cherished grandmother of Peter and Kristel Tretter; and Joel, Sarah and Anna Du Broy. Sister of Alfons (Ruth), Anton (Heidi), Maria (the late Anton) Seubert, Horst (Nancy), and Birgit Dolde. Daughter of the late Anton Fischer and Kreszentia (née Harscher), to whom she was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1929. She immigrated to Canada in 1951. Seamstress and master pattern maker; retired employee of The Bay in Windsor, Ontario. She raised her family and was and active member of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Windsor as well as a choir member at Saint Michael's Parish. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the wonderful staff at Billings Lodge for care and kindness. Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Funeral Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway), on Sunday, 11 March from 6:30-8:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Ignatius Martyr Roman Catholic Church, 518 Donald Street, Ottawa on Monday, 12 March at 10 am, followed by a reception in the church hall. Irene E. Watson (nee Anniss) - 01/08/2012

In hospital on December 31, 2011 at the age of 92 years. Beloved wife of the late Russell J. Watson and loving Mother of Bruce (Judy) of Calgary and Kathy (Bob Hiland) of Manotick. Very special Nana of Brent and Stacey Watson and Great Grandma (Gee Gee) of Olivia, Sam, and Anouk. Predeceased by her sister Amy Anniss. Irene graduated from Queens University with a BA in math in 1940. She was a past president and life member of the Carleton Heights Curling Club. She was also a long time member of Carleton Memorial United Church and an active volunteer teaching Sunday school, participating in the United Church Women’s Group, and leading young women in the CGIT. Family and friends are invited to visit for a Celebration of Irene’s Life at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod (at O’Connor), on Saturday April 21st from 1 to 3pm. Special words will be shared at 2:45pm. Reception to follow. For those wishing, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
