Ruth Yan Seto

Formerly served at the Ottawa Chinese Christian Mission and also in Montreal. A Prayer Warrior of OMF (Overseas Missionary Fellowship). She was born October 3, 1913 and passed away April 20, 2006. She is survived by 2 sisters and 1 brother. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Sunday, April 23 from 2 to 5 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, April 24 at 11:30 am. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. We would like to thank all her friends at the Glebe Centre for the excellent care in the last few years.

passed away peacefully on April 10, 2006 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Kathleen (Kaye) for 66 years. Much loved father of Terry (the late Sharon) and Kathryn Fright (Eric). Dearly loved "Pop" of Jordan, Daniel and Stephanie. Loving brother of Wesley and predeceased by Clarence, Gladys, Ernest, Bertha, Margaret and Victor. Albert will be missed by many friends. Al served in World War II as a Radar Operator with the RCAF; 43 years of faithful service with The Mutual Life of Canada. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Wednesday, April 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, April 13 from 12 noon until Service time in the Chapel at 1 p.m. followed by a reception at the McGarry Family Reception Centre. Roxy Lavinia Swan

It is with great sadness that Roxy's husband and children announce her passing in her 81st year after a very courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife for nearly 60 years of Norman W. Swan. She has left behind her cherished children, Tom (Betty), Louise (Ron), Wayne (Dominique), Nancy (Don) and Grandsons Andrew, Blair, Justin, David and Kyle. Also, as part of her extended family Christine & Eric, Jenna & Zach, Gabrielle & Sophie. She was a longtime choir member of St. Paul's Eastern United Church. She also was a faithful attendee of Remembrance Day Ceremonies and Battle of the Atlantic (1st Sunday in May) over the years. She was a Past Matron of Lorraine Chapter No44, OES. Her mastery in her kitchen for flavourful food was envied by many. Her pies at Church bazaars were spoken for before she even entered the Church. Her vibrant personality, her beautiful smile, her love of bridge and her ability to engage in meaningful conversation on every level will be sorely missed. Her eagerness to always learn has been cut short by a dreadful disease. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. On Saturday, April 15, 2006 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital aged 93 years. Born on October 31, 1912 in Westmount, Quebec. Son of J.W. Belisle and his wife Ann (nee Barron). Loving husband of the late Jacqueline (nee Piché) and devoted father to Denise, he was also predeceased by his older borther Roger. After graduating from the Faculty of Commerce (H.E.C.) of the University of Montreal (1938), he enlisted and served as an artillery officier in WWII; upon his return, he joined his family's firm and after retiring from business, he served as an officier of the Tax Court of Canada, until he finally retired at age 70. In his later years, he joined the Y.M./W.C.A. where he made many friends and remained an active participant until the end of 2005. Private funeral. Donations to the Seniors' Program of the Downtown Y.M./W.C.A. or the Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Francis (Frank) Rankin B. Cullen

Gen ret'd, MD July 31, 1921 to April 20, 2006 In hospital on Thursday, April 20, 2006. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Frances. He is survived by his children Tom (Marilyn), Pat (Susan) Mike (Donna) and Susan (Brian MacLean); his grandchildren Michael, Morgan, Aaron, Mark, Amy (Chris MacQuarrie), Graham and Michelle, and his great-grandchildren Zachary, Olivia, and Taryn. Born in Dryden, Ontario, and at the age of 19, in 1940, joined the RAF. As a pilot in WWII he served in England, Malta, North Africa and Italy. On his return from WWII he entered medical school at the University of Toronto, then transferred to the army and served in the Korean War as a doctor. In 1964 he received his specialty in anesthesiology. He was a career military man who held positions in Whitehorse, Winnipeg, Pensacola, Toronto, Halifax and Ottawa. He retired as a Brigadier General and his final posting was Commandant of the National Defence Medical Centre in Ottawa where he retired in 1977. He continued his career with the Department of Veterans Affairs for several years. With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Victor Joseph Haddad after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Husband of the late Claire Marion and son of the late Linda and George Haddad, Victor leaves to mourn his loss his sons, Steven and Daniel, and his daughter Jennifer. He will be greatly missed by his sister Judith Haddad (Ray Bowler) of Perth, his brother Michel Haddad, of Ottawa, his aunts Haifa (late Raymond) Sader of Ottawa and Alice Ayoub of Lebanon. He holds a special place in the hearts of his sister-in-law and his brother-in-law Louise and Robert Tremblay of Gatineau. He will be remembered with special affection by many cousins and relatives throughout Canada, the United States, Lebanon and South America. Until his recent retirement, Victor was the owner of Brittany Medical Pharmacy where he served his clients with dignity, compassion and grace. He loved life for too short a time. Born on January 26, 1925, in Montreal, Quebec. Passed away, peacefully, on April 12, 2006 at the Ottawa General Hospital, at the age of 81. Predeceased by her husband, Malcolm Inglis. Survived by her son, Kenneth (Sonia) and daughter, Gail, and brother Arthur Maxwell (Joyce). Beloved grandmother of Catherine and Campbell. Aunt to Maureen, Lorraine and many great-nieces and great-nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Hawthorne United Church, 2244 Russell Road, on Saturday, April 22nd at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hawthorne United Church would be appreciated.
