passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 in her 91st year. Predeceased by brothers Ralph, Harry and Gordon and also by her beloved niece Karan. Greatly missed and loved by sisters-in-law Hope and Connie; nephews Larry (Debbie), Peter (Pauline) (Kimberley), Lloyd (Diane) and Roger (Ursula); great nephews Mark, Colin, Danny and great niece Erika. Beloved wif4e of the late Robert, she is mourned by her sons, Cam and Dave, daughters-in-law, Kathy and Rosemary, dear grandchildren, Mary, Laura, Sally, Luke and Drew and her sister, Mrs. Suzanne Cumyn. Dear Grandfather of Klaartje (Evert), Saskia and Patrick and great-grandfather of Kalen, Mees and Maud. Born in 1923 in the Netherlands, Willem studied at Dordrecht Polytechnic and began teaching at Eindhoven Academy of Industrial Design in 1953 - 1973. He was the first Director of the School of Industrial Design, Carleton University, in 1972 and its Centre for Industrial Design Research in 1985. Retired in 1992, and appointed Professor Emeritus and granted an honourary Doctorate of Engineering in 1997.
