RCAF Veteran WWII On Saturday, November 30, 2002 age 81 years. Son of the late Norman Earl Smillie and Jean Evelyn Mason of Brownsburg, Quebec. Dearly beloved husband of Marion Isabel Birch. Much loved brother of Wynetha Evelyn Willoughby of KirkElla, Yorkshire, England. Heldin deep affection by his extended family of nieces and nephews. Winston gave valuable service in many capacities as a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Saskatoon and Ottawa. He was a Rotarian and engaged in several activities such as Chairman of the Saskatchewan Easter Seals Campaign. He was an avid skeet and trap shooter and a winner of several medalsduring his career with Canadian Industries Limited. He held sales posotions in Western Canada and latterly served in Eastern Canada in finance and as a curator of the corporate travelling collection of contemporary Canadian paintings. Lee (Lillian Louise) nee Vincent Smith - 12/01/2002
Previously Lee Humble Died peacefully on November 29, 2002 at the Ottawa General Hospital, after a 5 year battle with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Lee was born on November 16, 1947 in Fredericton. She was a long term employee of the TD Bank, but anyone who knew Lee would know that her passions were her daughters, her granddaughters, her counselling with La Leche League, and the children that attended her daycare many years ago. Once she was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer, she discovered the IBC Support Group on the Internet and became a counsellor, a pillar of strength and an inspirational source of hope and comfort for many women with this disease, and their families worldwide. Despite disabling treatment side-effects, Lee led, and won, a fight for the Canadian approval of the drug Herceptin, enabling a longer and better life for others with cancer. Lee was a founding member of the IBC Research Foundation, and was the Canadian Tissue Donation Co-ordinator. Even in death, she donated her corneas to give others sight, and continues to make a difference. Lee will be missed by her loving husband Charles Smith, parents Gertrude and J. Michael Vincent, brothers David Vincent (Judy) and John Vincent (Louise), daughters Katie Toksoy (Guy) and Sylvia Priboj (Jergus), and cherished granddaughters Seline and Erin Toksoy. The family would like to thank Dr. Stan Gertler, Dr. John Seely, nurse extra-ordinaire Ginni Jarvis and the nurses who cared for Lee.
