Beloved wife of Arthur. Dear mother of Mary Whitney & her husband Ken. Predeceased by her son Don. Loving ‘Nan' to James, Matthew, Adam, Jamie & her grandaughter Dionne. Dear sister of Dorothy Jarvis & the late Herbert Weese. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in the PAUL G. Son of the late Damase and of the late Rosa (née Roy) Roy. Husband of Thérèse (née Morel) Roy of Cache Bay and the late Nora (née Currie). Cherished father of Ronald (Mary) of Sudbury, Paulette Argo (Bill) of Corbeil, Larry (Brenda) of North Bay, Linda Groulx (Rhéal) of Warren, Jim, (Gayle) Calgary, Mike (Helen) of Oshawa, Dan (Gail) of Warren and father to Guy Lachance (Sue) of Saskatchewan, Charles Lachance (Lynda) of Sturgeon Falls, Paul Lachance (Diane) of Callander, Richard Lachance (Sandra) of North Bay and Lise Hodges (Tom) of Garson. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Noella Galipeau (Léo) of Sudbury. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Rhéal, Lionel, Edmond, Alma Faubert, Cécile Johnson, Maria Debien and Irène Roy. A very affectionate and compassionate person who cared greatly for the well being of others. He had a phenomenal memory for dates, anniversaries and special occasions which he never forgot to celebrate. He was a people person, happiest with friends and family. A loving Poppa and Pepere to several grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was very generous and always ready to help. A member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 225, he had served in WWII, he was a Warrant Officer with the R.C.A.F. in India and Ceylon. At his request, their will be no viewing. SCHUTLZ, Melville Wallace - Peacefully, at North Bay General Hospital- Scollard Site on Saturday February 17th, 2007. Mel, beloved husband of the late Iris Schultz (Lampman)in his 80th year. He will be lovingly remembered by his children James (Bobbi), Jayne (Matt) & John (Christine). He was “gramps“ to Jackie, Mike, Kelly, Jason, Justin, Jordan, JJ, Mitchell, Kerri & Jenna. Also survived by a brother James Schultz (Ruth) and many nieces and nephews. Mel was a proud OPP officer for 34 years. He served in Atikokan, Kenora, Sudbury, Madoc before retiring as a Corporal in Sombra. Visitation will be held at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday February 20th from 9 to 11 am. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Cremation. Florence Dolores Vachon

VACHON, Florence Dolores - Florence Vachon of Callander died peacefully after a brief illness at North Bay General Hospital on Friday, February 16, 2007 in her 85th year. Florence was predeceased by her parents Laura (Roy) and Zepherin Vachon, her sister Emma Callahan, and her brothers Ernest and Eugene Vachon. She is survived by her brother Daniel Vachon of Callander, her sister Dorcine Vachon of North Bay, and her nephew Ray Callahan of Chiswick. Florence worked for many years as a splicer at veneer mills in the Mattawa area. The family will receive visitors at the Kingdom Hall, 1120 Premier Rd., North Bay from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, on Saturday, February 24th. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 pm in the Hall. Immediate cremation with interment of ashes at the Jehovah's Witnesses cemetery , Chisholm later in the spring. Loving mother of Anita (Donald) Houghton and Dino (Kendall) Cappellazzo. Cherished Nonna of Patrick, Alexandra, Spencer and Tia. Dearly loved sister of Gina, Rino and Antonietta and sister-in-law of Teresina, Guido, John (Rosetta) George (Nina), Amabile (Marcello), Gino (Iole), Ada (Lello), Carla and Dina (Dino). Also surviving are many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Predeceased by her brother Pietro, her brother-in-law Emilio and her sisters-in-law Luciana and Teresina . Sandra was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. Before she became sick she would always be found cheerfully cooking and baking delicious meals for her family and friends. She loved to be in the garden surrounded by flowers and vegetables. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed. GARLAND, GEORGE STANLEY CHIC - Chic Garland died peacefully, surrounded by family at his Powassan home on Monday, February 19, 2007 following a long illness. He was in his 87th year. Chic was the beloved husband of Frieda (Mogridge) of Powassan and father of Deborah (Dr. Art Van Walraven) of Stratford, Barry (Wendy) of Corbeil and Garry (Jolyne) of Powassan. He was the proud and loving grandfather of Leisse (Andrew Wilcox), Aspen, Kira, Erika (Colin Leis), Ryan, Jade, Sarah, Thomas, Spencer and great-grandson Michael. Chic is survived by his sister Winnie Cox (late Russell) of North Bay and was predeceased by his sister Hazel Haufe and Thompson Garland. Chic was well known as the owner/operator of Garland's Service Centre, Powassan and as a founding member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 453 Powassan. Chic has served many offices within the RCL including as District Governor. The Garland family will receive visitors at the PAUL FUNERAL HOME, Powassan on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Legion Tribute Service will commence at 7pm Wednesday.
