Higenell, Joan 1939-2011

Peacefully in her 72nd year on April 19, 2011. Cherished wife of the late Edwin. Much loved mother and mother- in-law Clara and Branko Blagusk, Robert Higenell, Sara and Dean Billings, Melissa Higenell and Patrick Pongetti. Adored grandmother of Rebecca, James, Matthew and Dante. Daughter of the late Lester and Clara Bissnett. Beloved sister of the late Gerry, Bob and Ray. Joan will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to the staff at the Brant Center in Burlington for their care and compassion. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME “William J. Markey Chapel” 947 Rymal Rd E. A dream that will need
All the love you can give
Every day of your life
For as long as you live
With loving family by her side and with profound sadness we deeply mourn the loss of Shirley, in her 83rd year, our beautiful and thoughtful wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of 62 years to William (Bill) and Sarah the family cat. Loving mother of Graham (Karen
predeceased), Stephen (Chris), Billy (Beth), Kathy (Rick), Barb (Bill), Nancy (Gerard). Devoted grandma to Phillip (Shivonne), Adam, Katelyn, Victoria, Heather and Morgan
Shirley. Adored great-grandma to Keelyn. Predeceased by her parents Herbert and Matilda Seip and brothers Howard (Rita) and Ken. She will be sadly missed by her sister Elaine (Jack) of Kitchener and brother Orv (Ruth) of Hanover and all other family and many dear friends. Special friend to Jessie. Shirley was involved in many activities including golf, curling, bridge club and a long-time treasured employee of Amity Goodwill Industries. Sincere gratitude to Dr. Sunni and Dolly Luthra. We sincerely appreciate the compassion of the staff at 3 East at St. Peter's Hospital. A special thanks

Vial, Robert David 1957-2011

Vial, Robert David passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton on Friday, April 22nd in his 60th year after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by father (Bill) William Robert in 1965 and mother Dorothy in 1987. Survived by sister Margaret Ann of London, Ontario. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME “William J. Markey Chapel” 947 Rymal Road E., HAMILTON on Sunday, April 24, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 11:00 am. Tucker, Gale Joan 1957-2011

Peacefully, at the Juravinksi Hospital, surrounded by love on April 23, 2011 in her 54th year. Beloved wife of Cecil. Devoted mother of Sara. Predeceased by brother, Scott. Survived by parents, Jim and Claudia Barr, sisters, Debbie (Richard), Valerie (Don), auntie Doris (Ed), uncle Lloyd (Florence), auntie Joan and six nieces. Will be sorrowfully missed by her best friend, Nancy, friends Sophie and Candice. Gale was a devoted employee of ArcelorMittal Dofasco for 35 years, a prominent member of Church of the Resurrection and a dedicated volunteer to her community. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405), on Tuesday, April 26th, 2011 and Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. After a long courageous battle with cancer, Neil passed away at home on April 30th, 2011.

Survived by his wife Diane (Sam), their children Susan, John, Danny, Jean, predeceased by his daughter Sandra (Sandy) 1961.

Grampa to nine Grandchildren and six Great-Grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents John and Lillian (Maw) Sharp.

Survived by his sister Jean and brother Wayne from Guelph. Predeceased by his sister Bernice (Chiarot) and brother Butch.

Neil was a skilled welder, former employee of Slater Steel Inc. and retired from the Plumbers-Steamfitters-Welders Local 67, well known as (Sharpie). His greatest passion was for the game of Golf, if he was not at the Range, on the Golf Course, he enjoyed reading or watching the Golf Channel. His long time golfing buddies, brother-in-law Guido Chiarot and best friend Joe Chiarot.

Private cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.

If desired, donations may be made to the Juravinski Hospital Foundation, Hamilton.

Puglisi, Giovanni 1926-2011

Peacefully on May 6, 2011 with his family at his side. Devoted husband for 54 years to Angela. Cherished father of Florence (Jim) Altitonante, Mary (Duncan) Burns and Angelo (Cathy) Puglisi. Loving Grandfather of Alida, Albert, Corrina, Kaitlynn, Kyle, Sabrina and Daniel. Dear brother of Elena (Tony) Morgante, Mima Castiglione and predeceased by Settimo, Angelo, Gina, and Giuseppe. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law Vincenza (Mario) Xamin and many family and friends. The legacy that Giovanni leaves behind is that of family, love and togetherness. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. The family wishes to thank the Juravinski Cancer Centre for their support during this difficult time. Monteiro, Issac Denis 1957-2011

Unexpectedly on Saturday May 7, 2011 at the age of 53. Cherished husband of Thelma for 26 years. Loving father of David and Blake. Dear son of Monthi and the late Joachim. Will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters and extended family. Issac was employed with Siemens Westinghouse for the last 13 years. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East (between Upper Gage and Upper Ottawa), HAMILTON (905-574-0405) on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 1694 Upper James Street, Hamilton on Wednesday May 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment Mount Hamilton cemetery. Memorial donations to the United Way would be appreciated by the family.

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, April 9, 2011, in her 73rd year, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Vincenza will now join her loving husband Leo and beloved daughter Angela-Maria in heaven.

She will be greatly missed by her loving children, Charlie, Antoinette, and Ed and Tania. Proud, loving, and devoted Nonna to Andy, Vanessa, Leo, and Marco.

Survived by and loving sister of Calogero Sciollintano and Gerlanda, Guiseppina Cino, Carmelina Esposto and Stefano, and brother in law Peter Miceli. Sister in law to Joe Munisteri and Barb, Angela Alfano and Joe, and Connie Morganti and David. Dear cousin of Alfonso Munisteri.

Vincenza is predeceased by her parents, Eduardo and Angela Sciollintano, and her sister Elena Miceli. Also predeceased by her father and mother in law, Calogero and Antonia Munisteri, and brother in law Guiseppe Cino.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the Juravinski Hospital in Ward C3 for their warmth, compassion and excellent care.

Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Monday, April 11, 2011 and Tuesday, April 12, 2011, from 5pm-9pm. Patrick, Dr. Michael 1938-2011

Patrick, Dr. Michael

Peacefully on Friday April 15, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital. Beloved husband of Evelyn for forty-six years. Dear brother of Stephen (Shirley) Patrick of Amherstburg and Bill (Pat) Patrick of Amherstburg. Pre-deceased by his parents Harry and Susan Patrick and sisters Mary Seniuk and Anne Masney and brother Edward Patrick.

Michael grew up in Amherstburg where he lived with his brothers and sisters on the family farm on the Pike Road. He attended General Amherst High School and was valedictorian in his graduating year. He went on to dental school at the University of Toronto graduating in June 1961. He interned from 1961 to 1962 at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center in New York. He practiced family dentistry in Hamilton for forty-nine years. He was an alumni of Zeta Delta of Sigma Nu Fraternity and a proud member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He was a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Canadian Dental Association and a lifelong member of the Hamilton Academy of Dentistry.

Michael had many interests and passions in his life, loved his work and was adored by many who knew him as a dentist, friend or relative. He was a ham radio operator (VE3FMG), enjoyed photography, flying, fishing, hunting and computer technology. He loved his pets especially walking his Schnauzer Zoli in King's Forest.

The family would like to give special thanks and acknowledgement to their family doctor Dr. Junard, Dr. Cunnington at McMaster Hospital, emergency doctors and nurses at Juravinski Cancer Center, Dr. Mizera and his team of doctors and nurses on ward E3, Dr. Hirti and his team of doctors and nurses in Oncology and also Dr. Bev and the nurses at St. Peter's Hospital. You all provided kindness and compassionate care to Michael and his family.

Family invites relatives and friends to BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Wednesday April 20, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday April 21, 2011 from 12-2 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Bay Gardens Chapel on Thursday April 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. Visitation the following week at James H. Sutton Funeral Home, 401 Sandwich St. S, AMHERSTBURG (519.736.2134) on Wednesday April 27, 2011 from 2-5 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday April 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. John the Baptist cemetery.

Sexton, John 1931-2011

Peacefully with his loving family by his side on Friday April 15, 2011 at the age of 79. Loving husband of Pat for 53 wonderful years. Cherished father of John and Sharon Sexton of Australia, Anne Marie Sexton, Pat and Stephen McNab, Jacqueline and Andrew Brearton, the late Terry and his wife Joanne Sexton and Peter and Natalie Sexton. Will be sadly missed by his 15 grandchildren. Dear brother of Ellen and the late Bob Lapthorne, Stella and Mike Bidulka and Ron and Jackie Sexton. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Terry and Ellen. John was a lifetime member of the Bishop Ryan 4th Degree and St. Margaret Mary 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus and Local 18 Carpenter’s Union. He was proud to be one of the original members of the Jock Stein Memorial Celtic Supporters Club. John was also a longtime member of the British Imperial Club and a Social Member of the Irish Canadian Club. John spent his last years working at a job he loved as a starter at Chedoke G.C. A special thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Bob Kemp Hospice for the loving and compassionate care shown to John and his family. Visitation will take place on Monday (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 947 Rymal Rd. E. (between Upper Gage & Upper Ottawa) HAMILTON (905-574-0405). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Parish on Tuesday April 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection cemetery. Donations in John’s honour can be made to the Bob Kemp Hospice.
