WWII Veteran
Retired Electrician, DPW, passed away at 86 years of age on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre. Dearly loved father of Brenda and Robert (Debbie). Also survived by their mother Vida. Cherished grandfather of Sherry. Lovingly remembered by his sister Betty-Anne (Charles Prosperine) and brothers James (Debbie) and Edward (Joan). Predeceased by brothers William "Bill" (Ethel), Michael (Dorothy), George (Shirley) and John (Eleanor) and sister Lillian (Ady Smiricky). A warm and heartfelt thanks to all the staff and volunteers at the Preley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre, Rideau 1 South for their compassion and dedication to Tom over the past five years. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt) on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 1:30p.m. until time of service in the chapel at 2:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Capital Memorial Gardens. Peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus, on Tuesday September 22, 2009 in his 76th year. Loving husband of Joyce Mae (nee Corkum). Survived by his brother Ernest Dance (Marlene), of Nepean, his sister Florence Richardson (Arnott), of Ottawa, and his brother-in-law William Laurie Corkum, of Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his sister-in-law Shirley Coburn (Edward), of Ottawa. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held at Parkwood Presbyterian Church, 10 Chesterton Drive, Nepean, on Saturday October 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkwood Presbyterian Church, or to the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus.

Grant, Rosemary Rena (nee - Hennessy)
Peacefully at home with her daughters by her side, after a valiant battle with cancer, on Monday, September 28, 2009, in her 73rd year. Loving mother of Sandi and Sabrina. Dear nana of Alex. Sister of Bob (Madeline). Predeceased by her sister Alexandra Schaule. Many thanks to all the nurses at the General Hospital, the home care nurses and Dr. Farncombe and her team for their kind and compassionate care. Stabler, Roy O. CD
Wing Commander, RCAF (Ret’d)
At Ottawa on the 28th day of September, 2009, in his 95th year. Beloved husband of Alberta (Daviss), cherished father of Patricia Thompson and Kenneth Stabler (Jean), loving grandfather of Mike Thompson (Jen), Greg Thompson (Lorrie), Jennifer Stabler and Jeff Stabler (Kim), predeceased by his sister Marion Dillworth, great grandfather of Dillon, Riley, Alexis, Cameron, Scott, Brynne, John, Jamie and Emily. Born in Winnipeg Manitoba, May 18, 1915, Roy joined the RCAF in 1934. he served as an aircraft technician and then as an instructor at the Technical Training School becoming the Chief Instructor of No. 2 T.T.S. He served as the chief Technical Officer at the Repair Depot in Calgary, Alberta, 4(F) Wing in Germany and RCAF Station North Bay, Ontario. He also held posts at RCAF Air Material Command and Air Force Headquarters where he was the Executive Assistant to the Director General of Aerospace Engineering until his retirement in 1967. Afterward Roy was the Manager for the Ottawa Housing Authority for 4 years and then on the staff of Charles Ogilvy for 10 years. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt) on Thursday, October 1st, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 2 p.m. until service time in the chapel at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Dunham, Donald Rogers
Peacefully at Hospice at May Court on Sunday, September 27, 2009 in his 89th year. Dear husband of Ruth Anna Germain, loving father of Dianne (Allan Martin) and Sandra Sharpe (predeceased June 2009). Dear grandfather to Matthew and Stephen, Tamara, Janelle, and Shannon; great grandfather to Alyssa, Denai, Macey and Saxon. Don’s love of flying took him around the world; he served in WWII overseas and as a career pilot with the RCAF. His fondness for travel, especially to Florida, and his garden enriched his life. Cheerio Don! At Don’s request no funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers donations to the Ottawa Mission would be appreciated.

Wiseman, Elaine Norma
On September 24, 2009, Elaine succumbed to her illness and passed away peacefully with family at her side at the age of 59 years. Predeceased by her parents Earl Wiseman and Dora Smith. Beloved wife of Robert Haley. Loving mother of Nancy-Ann Bedard (Real) and Marie-Josee Bedard (Stephan). Cherished grandmother of Mathieu and Benoit Bigras. Dear sister of Dale Wiseman (Joan), Ron Wiseman (Diana), Bob Wiseman (Alma), Shirley Cote (Pierre) and Kenny Wiseman (Audrey). Predeceased by her sisters, Patsy Wager (Wayne) and Betty Henderson (Wallace) and her brother Ernest Wiseman (the late Barbara). Special thanks to the External Clinic of the Hull Hospital and to the Intensive Care Unit of both Hull and Gatineau Hospitals. Dear sister of Rita (Bill) Duncan and Erwin Dunlop (Joan). Survived by a daughter-in-law Carole Yuill. Predeceased by brothers Robert, Bill and Doug and by a sister Hazel King. Graham, Richard (Dick)

(Retired – CMHC) Peacefully, in hospital. A kind and gentle man, he was the beloved husband of Marjorie for 64 years. Much loved father of Hugh (Jocelyn) and Jean Graham-Abbott (David) of Peterborough. Proud grandfather of Stephen (Lia), Mary Hubert (Mike) and Michael; and Jessica Abbott (Nils Sundqvist). Great-grandpa to Robert, Katherine, Thomas, and Brendon; Linnea and Izabela. Predeceased by his sisters Mary Giff and Annie Westerman and step-sister Dorothy Hubbard. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Ottawa General Hospital – 5 North East for their care and kindness. Peacefully, on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at the age of 77. Cherished wife of Roger Brazeau. Loving mother of Judith Juillet (Marc) and Gary Brazeau (Sabena). Caring grandmother of Charlotte, Logan, Genevieve, Jacob, Bethany and Brendan. Fern was a knitting and quilting enthusiast. At Fern’s request there will be no visitation or service. Martin, Dorothy Helen
Peacefully with her family by her side, on September 30, 2009 in her 87th year. Dorothy joins her beloved husband Archie, her sister Shirley Lemieux, and her parents Ralph and Doris Robins. She was also predeceased by her second husband Cliff Crapper. She will be sadly missed by her sons Keith and Pat (Brenda), her granddaughters Meaghan (Chris) and Susanna, as well as her great-grandchildren Courtney and Wylie. She will be remembered by her step-children Susan (Michel), Diane (Gord) Bryan, and their families, as well as her sister Barbara and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the caring staff at Thorncliffe Place and Longfields Manor who provided her with wonderful care and support over the past few years. A memorial service will be held at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 403 Richmond Rd (at Roosevelt Ave) on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Notre Dame cemetery. At the University of Ottawa Heart Institute on Sunday, October 4, 2009 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Wallace Shaw. Survived by her loving nieces and their husbands Ermine and James Wright, and Elaine and Richard Stillwell, her dear great nieces and nephews Laura Morris (Stuart Hoegner), Andrew Morris, Jessica, and Sarah Wright, Emily Stillwell (Josh Gordon), and Peter Stillwell, and her adored great grand nephews Anthony Romeo Morris and Declan Xavier Hoegner. Predeceased by her brother Romeo Mastrocola and her sister in law Minnie (nee Palange) Mastrocola. Friends and family may call at the Garden Chapel of the Tubman Funeral Homes 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore & Baseline) on Monday, October 12, 2009 from 4-6 pm.
