Ed was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, his marriage of 51 years attested to his kind-heartedness and love. He was a quiet and gentle man, regardless of the situation it was often his calming touch or just his presence that made it all seem better. Ed enjoyed life to the fullest. Some of the most memorable and everlasting moments are from the family Trout Lake cottage of 23 years. The gathering of the entire family every summer and Thanksgiving made it a special place. His colleagues and peers always spoke very highly of Ed. He would be the first to arrive every morning, and always available to lend a sympathetic ear to coworkers and friends in need. To his friends he was known as “Fast Eddy”, he always looked forward to the outings with his buddies, be it golfing, fishing or just hanging out. He was a man that neither asked nor wanted for anything. His entire life was dedicated to his family and helping everyone he came in contact with. From his early years to his last days it was never about himself, his countless hours of community service often went unnoticed but that was fine with him. His reward was knowing he made someone’s day just a little bit happier. He will be remembered as a loving person whose light of life inspired everyone he met. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. “When this tree fell in the forest, many people could hear” A memorial service in his honour will be held at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 1887 Bancroft Drive, Sudbury on Friday, April 17, 2009 at 2 p.m. followed by a reception in the church hall.
