At Lakeridge Health, Oshawa on Saturday March 31, 2001. Mary Irene Ihnat, in her 75th year. Loving mother of Margaret Macinally and her husband Robert, Gail Cribbie and her husband Ken and John and his wife Paula. Dear sister of Helen, Reg and Clarence. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Douglas, Danny, Jeff, Erin, Michael and Stephen. Special thanks to the Doctors, nurses and staff on the 9th floor and Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East Oshawa with Funeral Service in the Chapel on Tuesday April 3 at 11 a.m. Cremation. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Society or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated. Visitation Monday 7-9 p.m.

Suddenly at his residence in Oshawa on Saturday, March 31, 2001. Robert McDonnell, in his 75th year. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy. Loving father of Loretta Boyd and her husband Paul, Mary Irene Conway and her husband Barry, Pat Dingman and her husband Kevin, Bob and his wife Wendy, and Tom and his wife Deanna. Dear brother of Peggy McGrath and predeceased by his brothers Michael and Frank and his sister Doreen Shaw. Lovingly remembered by 16 grandchildren. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa with Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gertrude's Catholic Church, Oshawa on Wednesday, April 4 at 10 a.m. Cremation. PORR, Hedwig "Hedy" -
Peacefully, at the Huronia District Hospital, Midland on Saturday, March 31, 2001, Hedwig "Hedy" Porr. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Guido "Hans", daughter Gitta, son Robin, grandchildren Morgan and Myles, sister Trudel, niece Agi and her husband Norbert, nephew Helmut, and friends. The late Mrs. Hedwig Porr will be resting at the Coldwater Funeral Home, 22 Sturgeon Bay Road, P.O. Box 190, Coldwater, ON, L0K 1E0 (1-888-645-5485) on Monday, April 2, 2001 at 12 noon until time of Funeral Service at 2 p.m., followed by cremation. SCOLIN, Jane -
At her residence after a long illness on Saturday March 31, 2001. In
her 47th year. She will be sadly missed by her devoted husband James, and her loving daughters Noreen and Jaimie and her fiance Jerry. Jane will be fondly remembered by grandchildren, James, Matthew and Alexandrya. She will be sadly missed by her parents Jean and Wayne Colclough. Jane will be remembered by brothers Wayne and Larry Colclough of Calgary, loving daughter-in-law of Elizabeth Scolin and sister-in-law of Robert Scolin, David Scolin and Matthew Scolin and families of Scotland. Jane will be remembered by niece Ashley. Jane was survived by aunts June, Vera, Joan and Gladys and uncles George and Irvine. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE, “Thornton Chapel” 847 King St., West (721-1234), on Tuesday, April 2nd from 2- 4 and 7- 9 P.M. SEAVER, James F.E. -
After courageously battling a lengthy illness, Jim succumbed while holding the hand of his beloved Mary, his wife of sixty years. Jim was born in 1919 at Glenboro, Manitoba, but spent most of his life in Oshawa, Ontario. Jim married Mary Doyle in 1941. He took tremendous pride in their nine children, their spouses, twenty-two grandchildren and soon to be twenty great-grandchildren. He is also fondly remembered by his sister, Madge Bowman. Jim spent the majority of his career as a pilot for the RCAF. He first enlisted in 1939 as a member of the Ontario Tank Regiment of the Canadian Army. Jim transferred to the Air Force in 1941 when he first received his "wings." He served with Central Command during WWII, and was a transport pilot during the Korean Conflict. A qualified jet instructor pilot, Jim was assigned as a member of the North American Air Defense Division, throughout Ontario, Quebec and the United States. An officer and a gentleman to the end, Jim believed in good citizenship. He served as a mayor during one of his postings in Lac St. Denis, Quebec. He was a life long member of Branch 43 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He first joined as a member of the Junior Legion, as his father Frederick was a WWI veteran. One of his proudest accomplishments was the establishment of the Royal Canadian Legion Bursary Fund, which has allowed students to pursue post-secondary education for the past thirty years. Confined to a wheelchair in his mid fifties, Jim became an advocate for greater accessibility for the handicapped throughout Ontario. Along with his great friend Alex MacDonald, he helped to establish the Oshawa District Handicapped Club. Jim is resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King St. East, Oshawa. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Phillip The Apostle Church, 1314 Oxford St. in Oshawa on Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday night from 7-9 p.m. and on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with prayers on Monday at 8:15 p.m. Many thanks to the nurses at Bowmanville Hospital, Dr. R. Giroux and Dr. Hollander. If desired, a donation to the Royal Canadian Legion Bursary Fund would be greatly appreciated.

STEELE, Ross W. -
(Active member of Port Perry Snowmobile Club, 32 years of service at Ontario Motor Sales, retired from General Motors in 1990). At the age of 75, called to groom trails and maintain heaven’s fleet. After a short illness with cancer, with his family by his side, on Saturday, March 31, 2001, at the Oshawa General Hospital. Beloved husband of Pat (nee Gladys Piney) of 50 years. Loving father of Susan and husband Ed Sokay, Janice and husband John Donko and daughter Lee-ann Cherished Grampa to Kristoffer and Stefan Sokay. Brother-in-law of Irene Johnstone. Brother of Aleta Steele, Wilda and Murray Stacey, and Muriel and Ted Gay. Ross will also be fondly remembered by family, friends and neighbours. Relatives and friends may call at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 152 King St E, Oshawa (905-433-5558) on Tuesday from 3-5 p.m., 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, April 4, 2001 from 10-11a.m. followed by a celebration of Ross’ life at 11 am in the chapel. VETERE, Shirlee Annette (nee Kirk) -
Peacefully at Fairview Lodge in Whitby on Saturday, March 31, 2001. In her 77th year. Beloved wife of Norm. Loving mother of Janice Murphy, Christine (Don) McGuinness, Tony (Rose) Vetere, and Anne-Marie (Joe) Rodrigues. Cherished grandmother of Tracy; Kevin, John, Robert and Michael; Lucas, Martin, Olivia and Trevor. Sister of Cyril Kirk. Predeceased by Eileen, Stella and Doris. Special thanks to the staff in Lower K of Fairview Lodge for their care and compassion. McCULLOCH, Thomas -
Suddenly at his home, on Friday March 30, 2001, Thomas McCulloch in his 66th year. He will be sadly missed by his wife Constance, and his children: Karen and her husband Roy, Tom and his wife Cindy, Rick and his wife Leta, Jim and his wife Sue, Pat and his wife Val, Chris and Sean. He is dearly loved by 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Thomas will be lovingly remembered by his sister Evelyn and the rest of her family. (Longtime employee of Ontario Hydro) Entered into rest suddenly at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, March 30, 2001 in his 74th year. Leo, beloved husband of Verna. Loving father of Allan and his wife Jane, Bruce and his wife Ruth, Brenda and her husband Alan Nicholson, Karen and her husband Robert Grey, and Norman and his wife Michele. Fondly remembered by his 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, his sisters Annette, Albina, Rita, and Julia and by his many relatives and friends. Predeceased by his brother Mario "Butch". The family will receive friends at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Service in the Chapel on Wednesday, April 4th, 2001.
