At the Princess Margaret Hospital, on Wednesday, June 27, 2001. Marie Talbot (nee McElroy), beloved wife of the late Jack Talbot. Sister of the late Helen Cover. Lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, family and friends. The family will receive friends at the MacEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax from 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass at St. Bernadette’s Roman Catholic Church (S.E. corner of Bayly St. & Harwood Ave.) on Saturday, June 30, 2001 at 12:30 p.m. Interment St. Marys cemetery (Kirkfield, Ont) at 3:00 p.m. Should family and friends so desire, donations to St. Bernadette’s Parish would be greatly appreciated.

Peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 27th, 2001. Wife of Thomas Walker. Dear friend of Art Rowe. Dear mother of Gail and Steve Simon, Daniel and Denise Walker; Sharon Walker and James Smith. Loving grandmother of Krystal and Stacey Simon, Susan, Sarah and Gary Walker, Katrina, Nicole and Matthew Smith. Dear sister of Marj and Joe Piper and Don and Eileen Stephens. Dear step-daughter of Russell Hepburn. A special thank you to Dr. Burke and Sherry Percell for their compassion and concern. Visitation at The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St. N. Resting at Ronald Martino & Son funeral Directors, Brock Road Chapel, 1057 Brock Rd., Pickering (just south of the 401, east side). Visitation Saturday, June 30 from 2-4 p.m. until time of funeral service and committal in the chapel at 4 p.m. Cremation.

ASSING, Dr. Joseph Allan, M.D. -
Peacefully at his home with his family on Tuesday, June 26, 2001. Beloved husband of Joy Eileen (Chan Pong). Loving father of Richard and his wife Betsy, Debbie and her husband Brent Mook Sang and Elizabeth and her husband Philip Banzon. Dear grandfather of Matthew, Christopher, Brenton, Lisa and Christine. Joseph was born in Trinidad on November 26, 1920 and graduated from the Tufts Medical School in Boston, Mass., U.S.A. in 1949. He was a family practitioner/obstetrician in Trinidad, Whitby and Scarborough. Former Chief of Staff of the Whitby Hospital. Funeral Mass will be held on June 30th at 11 a.m. at St. Bernadette's Church (21 Bailey St. E., Ajax). Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oncology Clinic of the Oshawa General Hospital would be appreciated.

MCLEAN, Allan Shields (1908-2001) -
In loving memory of Allan Shields who passed away at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa on Tuesday, June 26th, 2001. He is survived by Mary Ellen, his wife of 62 years; his oldest sister lnez, his sons David and Donald; and their wives Zonia and Joelle; his grandsons Allan, Shawn, Cameron and Scott; and his great granddaughters Alexandria and Samantha. Allan retired from CIBC in 1968 after 41 years of service. He took an active role in the community and was a member of St. Marks Church in Whitby, the Kinsmen and Rotary clubs, and the Whitby Curling Club. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel” 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Wednesday, June 27th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 P.M. Funeral Service will be held at St. Marks Church, Whitby on Thursday, June 28th at 11:00 A.M. Interment GROVESIDE cemetery , Whitby.

Dear sister of Natalie Brown of Oshawa, predeceased by her sister Brenda Calhoun. Ollwen was an active participant in sports for most of her life. She was a long term member at both Oshawa Curling Club & the Oshawa Golf Club. Ollwen was a long time member of Simcoe Street United Church. She was educated in Oshawa Public & High School. Ollwen will be sadly missed by her many nieces & nephews in Brantford, Toronto, and Oshawa and by her many friends. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East Oshawa, with funeral service in the Chapel on Friday June 29, 2001 at 3 p.m. Cremation MOUNT LAWN Crematorium. Beloved husband of Judy Bryant. Loving and devoted father of Steve and his wife Tonya, and Gayle Russell. Dear grandfather of Blake. Dear brother of Jim and the late Jeanette, George and June. Baba to Annette, Melissa, Tara, Amanda, Michael, Jason, Sean, Jacob, Jordan, Derrick and Karly and the late Kelly. Beloved sister of Mary, Rose, Ann, Stella, Angie and the late Helen and Edward. Kay will be missed by all of her nieces and nephews. Died peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2001 at his cottage at Poplar Grove, lnnismore, in his 74th year. Always remembered by his brothers and sisters, Phyllis, Dennis, Don, Frances and Muriel. Predeceased by Howard & Leone. Will be sadly missed by neices and nephews. A service was held June 29 at W.C. Towne Funeral Home. Cremation. A celebration of Doug’s life was held at Poplar Grove, lnnismore on Saturday July 7 at 3:0O.pm.

Suddenly, at Sunnybrook Health Centre, in Toronto, on Monday, June 25, 2001, in her 56th year. Beloved wife of Leigh. Loving mother of Stefan and his wife Lorrie, and Heidi and her fiance Michael. Dear daughter of Joan and the late Alfred Cox, and sister of Rita, Marea, Robin and Shaun. Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Marilyn and many dear friends and family. Entered into rest at Sunnybrook Health Centre on Monday June 25, 2001 in his 87th year. David was predeceased by his wife Catherine. He is survived by his children Sandra and Herman van der Veen, Pat and Elaine Thrasher, Colleen and Gerry Infeld, Judy Thrasher, and by his grandchildren Catherine, Laura, Jeff and Christopher. In keeping with David's wishes, a Private Family Service will be held at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby followed by cremation.

Beloved mother of Patrick Drake and his wife Joyce of Brampton, Michael Drake and his wife Judy of Whitby, Ruth Drake and her husband Lutz Krueger of Whitby, Paul Drake and his wife Anita of Mission Viejo, California, Mary Monk of Oshawa, Daniel Drake and his wife Karen of Mesa, Arizona, Julie Schembri and her partner Charlie Hargraves of Pickering, Annie Drake of Menifee, California. Dear sister of Ruth Ives and her husband Wally, her sister-in-law Arlene Cumpsty and her late brother George. Cherished grandmother to 27 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by all.
