After a courageous battle with cancer, passed away at the Kingston General Hospital, with family at her side, on Sunday, September 9, 2001, at the age of 44. Loving companion of 25 years to Howard Thompson, Cherished mom of Tom and Paula, Judy and Steven, and Howie Jr. and Patricia. She would have been a proud and loving grand- mother to her grandson soon to arrive. Predeceased by her mother Judith. She will be greatly missed by Aunts Carolyn and Martha, Uncle Bill and Ruth and many uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Loving sister of David, Gary, Rhonda, John and predeceased by Richard. Suddenly at Central Park Lodge, September 8, 2001 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Gladys. Celebrated 60 years of marriage in November 2000. Loving father of Mary Ruth and her husband Nel Morrison, Jean and her husband Mike Gable, Margaret & her husband Dick Martin. He will be sorely missed by his, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a loving and caring Anglican Priest to his parishers at Trinity Church Oshawa, Trinity Church Aurora, and All Hallows Church Toronto. He also served as Chaplin at St. John’s Rehab Hospital and was a honourary assistant at St. Patrick’s until 1998. A requiem mass was celebrated on Monday September 10. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Anglican Church, 1087 Lillian Street Willowdale.

(Of Ajax and North Bay) On Saturday, September 8, 2001 at Centenary Health Centre in Scarborough, in her 75th year. Beloved wife of Major (Retd.) Harold J. Hoare. Dear mother of Judith A. Hemlow, a nurse at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, and Dr. John H. Hoare, a chemical research scientist in Boston, Mass. Loved grandmother of Jamie (Winnipeg) and John and Michael (Lunenburg, Mass.). Sister of Fred Lucas (Penetang), June Dunbar (Scarborough), Lillian Cherry (Bath) and Donald Lucas (Barrie). Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born in Ottawa February 8, 1927, the first child of William Dow and Erminie (Girard) Lucas, she grew up in Barrie, where as a teenager, she was postmaster of the Cundles P.O. She worked at the Bell in Toronto until joining the C.W.A.C. in W.W. II. She married Harold on his return from overseas, on April 20, 1946. Worked as secretary (O.T.) at Weston and Hamilton Hospitals and signal regiment Camp Borden. Later she was involved in politics, becoming constituency assistant for both the Federal and Ontario Provincial Governments. She was given the McDonald-Cartier Award at the Parliament Building (Ottawa) for her performance in the former. She served on the Ajax Nursing Board. Julia was an avid curler. She will be sorely missed by all. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Erskine cemetery. A reception will follow back at the funeral home.
