(United Empire Loyalist). 42 years with CIBC, 41 year member of Oshawa Canadian Club and member of Sydenham Kiwanis Club. At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Saturday, July 13, 2002. Clarence, beloved husband of Margaret (Westney). Loved father of William and his wife Donna. Loving grandfather of Matthew and Tyler. Dear brother of Leona Hinton and the late Marvin, Carl and Ila. Friends may pay their respects at the Morris Funeral Chapel, 4 Division St., Bowmanville on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Funeral service in Orono United Church on Monday at 2 p.m. Interment Orono cemetery. Donations in Clarence’s memory to Orono United Church or Memorial Hospital Foundation, Bowmanville would be gratefully appreciated.

HOOKER, Laurie (White) -
Born 13 January 1958, gone to be with her Heavenly Father 13 July 2002 after a courageous battle with brain tumour. Wife of Jeff. Loving mother to Jory and Marty at home in Whitby. Daughter of Melva and the late Lloyd White (1983) of Woodstock Sister to Jim (Shelley) White of Brantford. Granddaughter of Edith and the late Melvan James (2002). Predeceased by mother and father in law Grace (1999) and George (1992) Hooker. Family will receive friends at the Whitby Baptist Church 411 Gilbert Street East, Whitby on Wednesday July 17, 2002 from 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of life service at the Whitby Baptist Church on Thursday July 18, 2002 at 11 am. Cremation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lakeridge Health Oshawa Palliative Care Unit, the Brain Tumour Association or the Pencer Brain Tumour Clinic. Services entrusted to the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, Whitby.

JOHNSON, Philip Ronald Lloyd -
Age 20, entered into the presence of our Heavenly Father on the morning of Saturday, July 13, 2002. Beloved son of David and Carolyn Johnson, of Whitby, Ontario. Younger brother of Mark and Beth Johnson of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Stephen and Kelly Johnson of Perth, Ontario. Grandson of Florence Dempster of Port Perry. Nephew of Ron and Tessie Dempster of Uxbridge and Susan and John Boyce of Port Perry. Philip will be deeply missed by his extended family and friends. STRICKLAND, Leonard Arthur -
Surrounded by his loving family, Leonard Arthur Strickland passed away peacefully, on July 12th, 2002, at age 80. Leonard is survived by his wife Marcia of Whitby, son Douglas (Barbara) of Maryland, sister Kitty Jenkinson of England, brother Frank (Olive) Strickland of Toronto, Marcia’s 4 children and 5 grandchildren and extended family, and many friends. Leonard was Predeceased by his first wife Doreen in 1982. A Service celebrating Leonard’s life was held July 15th in Oshawa. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will help others, and can be made through OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE (905-721 -1234). Member of the Royal Canadian legion Branch 112; Past president of the Oshawa Navy Club. At his residence on Thursday July 11, 2002 in his 61st year. John beloved son of Dorothy and the late Normand McIntosh. Fondly remembered by his cousins. Friends will be received at the W.C. Peacefully on Thursday July 11, 2002 at Hillsdale Manor, Oshawa, in her 97th year. Edythe, beloved wife of the late David Stuart Sanderson. Dear mother of her only child Katherine Kim and her husband Harvey Armitage. Edythe was the cherished grandmother of Shane of Grande Cache, Alberta; Guy and his wife Mary Brereton of Hudson’s Hope, B.C., Katherine Jean of Calgary, Alberta, Christo­pher and his wife Janet of Powassan, Ontario, and great grandmother to their daughter Leslie. Edythe is predeceased by five older brothers, Russell, James, Jack, Burns, and Oliver. Survived by her brothers and sisters, Jim (late Inez) Harrison of Monkland, Ont., Ranald (Lillian) Harrison of Thorold, Margaret (Patrick) McDaniel of Oshawa, Betty (Roger) Wood of Ottawa, John (Jean) Harrison of Whitby, Verna (Peter) Riordan of Oshawa, Bob (Maria) Harrison of Ottawa and the late Charles (his surviving wife Marie of Cornwall), and the late Lee and George. Beloved aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. At Hazel’s request, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held at CHURCH OF ST. GREGORY THE GREAT, 194 Simcoe St. N., Oshawa on Saturday, July 13, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. A Memorial Mass will also be held at ST. ANDREW'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, St. Andrew’s West, on Saturday, July 20, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. followed by the interment of Hazel’s cremated remains, then a reception in the hall to follow. Proud grandpa of Nikki, Daniel, Bronwyn, Madison, Alexis and Benjamin. Adored brother of Debby (Gord Williams, a very treasured friend as well as brother-in-law), Denice Barrie, and Deanne Rainbird. Predeceased by brother-in-law Paul Rainbird. Dearest nephew of 'Aunt Nor Nor'. Fondly remembered by mother-in-law Jessie Nicholle. Dear brother-in-law of Richard and Lorraine Avery. Proud grampa of 10 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, cousins and father-in-law of Mark Hood of Oakwood, and fondly remembered by all his coffee buddies. Predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Carmen DeGiorgio of Malta. Mr. DeGiorgio was resting at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas St. East, Whitby Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Service in the Chapel Friday July 12, 2002 at 11 am followed by cremation. Donations to the Charity of choice.
