REECE, Harold -
(Member of Royal Air Force during W.W. II; Retired employee of IBM Canada). Peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, July 6, 2002. Harold, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband and soulmate for 62 years to Clarice. Loving father of Carole Booth and her husband Eric of Scarborough, Darren 'Blue' Reece and his wife Sabrina of Brooklin and Kelly Sutherland and her husband Scott of Whitby. Dearly remembered grandfather of Kimmie Cabral and her husband Nelson, Michael Parks and Kristal and Victoria Reece. Fondly remembered by the Reece families, all of England, particularly his sister Bette Johnstone and her husband Jack. Sadly missed by his buddies Sandy and Keldar. At Harold's request, a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held for his family and friends on Saturday, July 13, 2002, from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. at his daughter's residence, 30 Bliss Court, Whitby. Donations in memory of Harold to the Parkinson Foundation, Kidney Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated and may be made through McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558).

ROGERS, John Joseph -
passed away on July 6, 2002, in his 56th year after a lengthy illness. Son of Charles and Edith Rogers. Cherished father of Shelley, Colleen and predeceased by his baby son Curtis John. Loving grandfather of Leeanne, Peter John, Johnny and Nathan. John will be sadly missed by his sisters Jane Williams, Susan Watson, and brothers George (Bud), William (Bill), Charles (Chuck), and Robert (Bob). Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Aiax from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2002. Funeral Service will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at 1:00p.m. Cremation.

SAUNDERS, Ambrose Joseph -
At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday, July 7th, 2002 at age 72. Beloved husband of June Saunders. Dear father of Patrick, Catherine & her partner Randy, Robin, Andrew & his wife Debby, Shannon & her partner Mark. Cherished "Poppa"of 11 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren. Brother of Lambert, Clarence, Martin, & Gerald. He will be sadly missed by many family & friends. At Ambrose's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has already taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville. Donations may be made to The Cancer Society or to The Heart & Stroke Foundation.

SHERIDAN, Walter Herbert James "Mike” -
Served in WWI 1 1940-45, Past President of the 30th L.A.A. Battery Veterans Association, Past President and Poppy Chairman of the Sunderland Legion Branch No. 141. Former Member of the Forest Hill Rotary Club and SunderLand Lions Club.
Peacefully, on Saturday, July 6, 2002 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 80. Walter (Mike) Sheridan, of R.R. 3 Uxbridge, loving husband and best friend of Lola (nee Gerrow). Dearly cherished father of Janet Sheridan and Duane Johnson of Fenelon Falls, and Gail Sheridan and her husband Jim Hanson of Seagrave. Proud ‘Pa’ of his grandchildren Emily, Sharon, Jesse, and Shelby. Will be remembered by his sister-in-law Edna Sheridan of Terrace, B.C. Predeceased by his brothers Robert Sheridan, and Arthur Sheridan and his wife Zena. Relatives and friends will be received at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, ’ “McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Thursday, July 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Service to celebrate the life of Mike Sheridan will be held in the Chapel on Friday, Ju1y 19th at 11 a.m. with Reverend Helen Prior officiating. Interment Pine Grove cemetery , Prince Albert. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Community Memorial Hospital Foundation, in Port Perry or to the charity of your choice.

THOMPSON, Ross George -
(42-year employee of International Wax Ltd., Agincourt and a hobby farmer for 35 years in Bethany). Peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 6, 2002, in his 67th year, after a courageous battle with cancer. Loving son of Isabel Thompson (nee Ransberry) of Don Mills and the late Ralph Thompson. Best friend and loving partner of Anne Finlay. Sadly missed by his children Douglas (Louise) of Bowmanville, Karen Kerr (Dave) of Bridgenorth, and Keith of Oshawa. Loving PaPa of Cameron, Casey, Victoria, and Amy. Dear brother of Jack of Port Perry. Missed by many aunts uncles, and cousins in the Ransberry and Thompson families. Ross attended Yelverton United Church. He loved his farm where he planted 13, 000 trees, and was tremendously fond of animals, particularly his faithful buddies Sam and Charlie. Friends may call at the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S., (exit 440, just north of 401 at the lights - toll-free 1-877-987-3964) on Tuesday, July 9, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, July 10, at 11:00 a.m. Interment Orono cemetery. In memory of Ross, donations fo the Durham Regional Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated by his family.

BABINGTON (Caines), Patricia Gail –
passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, 16 days short of her 55th birthday. Daughter of the late Harold and Nellie Babington. Best friend and Mom of Vincent Caines and his wife Kathleen, and Vicki and her husband Neal Kent. The coolest Grandma of Daniel and Douglas Brennan-Caines. Dear sister of Glynes Stacey and her husband Al, and Jack Babington and his wife Jeanette. Friend and aunt to Marina, Julie, Shelley, Laurie and Denise. Special friend and former wife of John Caines. Pat was Director of Care at Cedarcroft Place and was so proud of being a nurse. This poem was written by a resident just for Pat:
Ode to Pat
Pat fills my pills
She never falters or spills
Competent and careful every day
And not a hair that is grey
Cheerful and always kind
She never seems to mind
To run or go the extra mile
Pat is a nurse with style.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at Cedarcroft Place, 649 King St. E., Oshawa, on Monday, July 8, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory to: Palliative Care, Lakeridge Health Oshawa; The Ajax Lions Club; the CNIB, or Oshawa Community Care, may be made through NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME (905-987-3964, 1-877-987-3964). Special thanks to Shelley Stacey, Dr. Warren Ke and his nurse Marg, Dr. Amurawaiye’s nurse Jean, and Ben Gugala and the Palliative Care Team. You all went that extra mile on Mom’s behalf. After spending her whole life taking care of everybody, it was difficult for her to let others take care of her, but the nursing staff at Lakeridge Health Port Perry and especially at Lakeridge Health Oshawa 6F did a wonderful job and treated her with the respect and dignity that she always treated her residents with.
