Lenore Sanderson - 02/23/2006

Peacefully in her home early Wednesday morning, February 22nd, 2006. Lenore was a light to all she met. She lived life to the fullest, sharing her wonderful energy, talents, and spirit with an open heart and home. She is survived by her son George, grandchildren Kristin and Heather, and great-grandchildren Rachel, Presleigh, Britany, and Nickolas. Her grace will be cherished by all. Special thanks to Dr. Louise Coulombe and At-Home Hospice for support in her journey. A Memorial Service will be held at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road, on Sunday, March 5th at 1pm.

Dora Schaenfield (nee Viner) - 02/22/2006

Dora Schaenfield, caring, devoted and always loving mother, wife, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 20th, 2006. Predeceased by her beloved husband Sam of 69 years. Cherished and adored mother to David (Rona), Faye Helman (Moshe) and Susan Cohen(David). Beloved Bubbi Dora to her grandchildren Tamar and Gilad Helman(Lana) and Brett and Hilary Schaenfield and great-grandmother to Noah Helman. Dora will be sadly missed by her siblings Leona Silver(Label), Milton (the late Terry), Gordon (Shirley) and Millie Schaenfield ( the late Dave) and by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Sylvia Altschuler, Betty Gold, and brothers Dave, Joe and Arthur Viner. Graveside service will be held at the Jewish Community cemetery , Bank Street on Thursday, February, 23rd, 2006 at 1 p.m. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the dedicated staff at Hillel Lodge. Those wishing may make donations to Hillel Lodge or the Alzheimer Society.

Dr. Harry Schwartz - 02/21/2006

Peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2006 at the age of 90 years. Beloved husband of the late Joan Sullivan. Dear brother of Gertie (the late Sydney Bacal). Predeceased by sisters Sylvia Raff, Beckie Bacal, Ellie Hymes, Ruth Lehrer and brothers Aaron and Abe Schwartz. Loving uncle of Dr. Jack Lehrer, Frances Spector, Ellen Bacal, Murray Bacal and Dr. Howard Bacal. A Funeral Service will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 10:30am. Interment following in Montreal at Mount Royal cemetery , Shaar Hashomayim Section. Many thanks to the staff at Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre for their compassionate care. Arrangements in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry.

Paul H. Serson - 03/05/2006

Peacefully at Carleton Lodge on Friday, March 3rd, 2006 in his 83rd year. Son of the late Harold and the late Eva Serson. Brother of the late Harold Jr. (Ada and the late Barbara Hornyansky) and Elizabeth Serson (the late John A. and the late Harry Johnson). Dearly beloved husband of Margaret E. Reid (nee Peggy Garnham) and step-father to Michael, Becky (Glenn), Margaret (Bruce) and John (Ellen). Loving grandfather to Kevin, Reid, Sarah, Rachel, James and Keith. He will be sadly missed by nieces Terry, Robin, Karen and nephew Ragnar and many cousins in the area. Paul started his career at the Dominion Observatory and became Director of the Division of Geomagnetism, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. He and his colleagues developed the Airborne Magnetometer and many other scientific inventions. Paul was also a great lover of music and played violin and viola taking part in many community quartets. Paul retired in 1981 and spent the last 6 years of his life in a nursing home. Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Carleton Lodge. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Saturday, March 11th, 2006 from 12 noon until Service Time in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations to Carleton Lodge, 55 Lodge Road K2C 3H1 would be appreciated or the NAC Orchestra.

On Monday, February 27, 2006, passed away, Pia Sesink, widow of Ferdinand Sesink, leaving behind one brother, several nephews and nieces and friends. At the request of the deceased a private cremation took place at Beechwood cemetery. A sincere thank you to the staff of The Edinburgh Retirement Residence.

passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus on Friday, March 3, 2006 at the age of 69. Beloved husband of Madeleine and loving father of Jo-Ann (Dave Tomlinson) and Dave (Jos e Alie). Proud grandfather of Andr , Stefan and Jacob. Dear brother of Olivia, Dorothy, Frances (Bill Thomas) and Sandra. Relatives and friends may attend a funeral mass to be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1758 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 10 a.m. In his memory, those wishing may make a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 403-1355 Bank Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1H 8K7. Peacefully in hospital with family by his side on Monday, February 20th, 2006 in his 81st year. Husband of Lorenza Joliceour. Beloved father of Stephen (Donna), David (Cheryl), Joel (Gail) and Jennifer (Dean Harbert). Cherished Zaidie of Mark, Karen, Natalie (Joe), Angela and Chelsea. Devoted brother of Hymie (the late Erica), Scotty (Isabelle), Molly (the late Moe), Freda, Jack (Linda), David (Darlene) and the late Morris, Cecil, Solly, Sam, Lily and Fanny. Uncle Nate will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Ave. on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 3 p.m. Interment Jewish Community cemetery , Bank St. Ottawa. Anne Sternberg (nee Ginsburg) - 02/28/2006

Peacefully at Hillel Lodge on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Ralph Sternberg and loving mother of Laya (Ted Jacobsen) and the late Billy (Roslyn) Sternberg. Devoted Bubby Anne to Stephanie (Wayne Dancey), Stewart (Jennifer) Wolfe, Michael (Susan), Ronnie, Howie, Shawn and Andrea. Great-Bubby Anne to Cory, Jaymee, Savannah, David, Aviva, Rachel, Lindsay, Brian, Cody, Sam and the late Shannon. Predeceased by sisters Sarah, Fannie, Helen and Lily. Auntie Annie will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. A special thank-you to private caregivers Althea and Lisa and also to the caring and dedicated staff at Hillel Lodge. A Funeral Service will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue, on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 2 p.m. Interment following at the Jewish Community cemetery , Bank Street, Ottawa. Unexpectedly, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at the age of 85. Husband of Mary. Father of George, Rea, Katina, Olga, Patrick, Philippe and Nadia. Cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. Uncle of Vasili, Nuala and George. A Memorial Mass was held at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, 212 Old Chelsea Road, Chelsea, Quebec on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 11am. For those wishing, donations may be made to the Gatineay Memorial Hospital, Wakefield, Quebec.

E. Patricia Torkos (nee Morris) - 02/27/2006

passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 12:40am at the age of 75 after an exhausting battle. So loved by her children Linda Springstead (George) and the late James Jr. (Sonya). Cherished by her grandchildren Kayla and Alec. Will be sadly missed by Brittany and Jessica, Gizella and James Torkos, Helen and Paul Macsuga, Rita Morris, Jean Cobden, her many nieces and nephews and all of her friends. Memorial Service will be held at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Wednesday, March 1 at 4pm. In memoriam donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation appreciated for the extraordinary care of the staff.
