With profound sadness we announce the death of Dr. Mark Rosenbloom at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus on Monday, March 6, 2006 in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Myrna for 44 years and loving father of David (Rowena), Toby and Samuel. Proud grandfather of Sophia, Sarah and Edgar. He is also survived by sister Glenda (Michael), nieces Ana and Zoe, and predeceased by parents Sadie and Aaron all of London, England. Mark served as a Medical Officer and General Surgeon with the Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years. Following retirement in 1984, he practiced psychotherapy until ill health forced him to quit in October 2005. An avid squash player, story-teller and dog walker, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Funeral Service will be held in the New Jewish cemetery Chapel, on Herbert Corners Road, Osgoode, ON. on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 2 p.m. Shiva to be observed at 2257 Kipling Street. Paul H. Serson - 03/05/2006
Peacefully at Carleton Lodge on Friday, March 3rd, 2006 in his 83rd year. Son of the late Harold and the late Eva Serson. Brother of the late Harold Jr. (Ada and the late Barbara Hornyansky) and Elizabeth Serson (the late John A. and the late Harry Johnson). Dearly beloved husband of Margaret E. Reid (nee Peggy Garnham) and step-father to Michael, Becky (Glenn), Margaret (Bruce) and John (Ellen). Loving grandfather to Kevin, Reid, Sarah, Rachel, James and Keith. He will be sadly missed by nieces Terry, Robin, Karen and nephew Ragnar and many cousins in the area. Paul started his career at the Dominion Observatory and became Director of the Division of Geomagnetism, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. He and his colleagues developed the Airborne Magnetometer and many other scientific inventions. Paul was also a great lover of music and played violin and viola taking part in many community quartets. Paul retired in 1981 and spent the last 6 years of his life in a nursing home. Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Carleton Lodge. Kim is survived by his parents Ross and Jean of Winnipeg, Manitoba, his 5 sisters and brothers-in-law, 9 nephews, 3 nieces, 1 great-niece, many relatives and an abundance of great friends. A Celebration of Kim's life will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Please join us in celebration. On February 27, 2006, a remarkable woman passed on when Ethel May Tunney began her new journey. Ethel, twice widowed at an early age (by Weldon Black and James Tunney), raised 4 wonderful children; Barbara (Al), Bud (Iris), Rodney and Deborah-Anne (Andy). She is fondly remembered by her boundless optimism and love for life, which will live on in her grandchildren; James, Wendy (Sasha), Jennifer (George), Ashley and Matthew (Rebekah) and great-grandchildren Tiana, Emma and Abigail. Ethel's love for her family was absolute and is returned in full for all time.
