A former gold glove boxer known as 'Popeye', and a great entrepreneur and owner of Hardsand Limited (76 years as a family business) Hardsand Fence and Patio Centre and Never Enough Wind Surf Shop. Peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 10th, 2004, in his 71st year. He has gone to join his beloved and devoted wife Patricia (Smith) who passed on June 12th, 2003. Clare will be deeply missed by his children Joanne Sheard, Jenny Hardsand (Jerry Cruickshank), Geo. Hardsand (Cathy Smith); his grandchildren Taunia Van Noord (Ken Arksey), Nathan Van Noord (Marcee Matte); his great- grandchildren Autumn Van Noord and Baihlee Arksey; his sisters Joy Cassidy (Bill), Millie Ives (Vic), Georgina Hughes, his brother Albert, and by his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Dear mother of Murray (Barbara), Kathleen (Joe Mercer), and Gladys (Jim Avola). Predeceased by Rosemary (1986) and Harold (Mary Haughian) 2002. Last surviving member of the Murray Family of 11 children. Lovingly remembered by 29 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
