Ernst Koehler
Surrounded by his loving family, Ernst Koehler passed away peacefully on October 16th, 2004 after a long battle with heart disease. Sadly missed by his loving wife Gail (Hook) Koehler, his daughters Marlaine (Barry Linetsky), Lorraine (Jim Gard), and Elaine (Bobby Collicott). Beloved Opa to granddaughters Corinna and Leanne Linetsky. Survived by sisters in Germany Ursula and Eva and brother Siegfried of Guatemala. Brother-in-law to Linda and David Natchin, Laura Hook, Tammy and Randy Stone of Sault Ste. Marie. Ernie found his great true love in Gail and shared with her a deep and fulfilling romance that lasted 45 years. His pride and joy were his three girls-Ernie’s Angels. In the last year of his life, when the disease finally took too strong hold on him, did he miss a season at Derrydale Golf Course. Rookie, his pet wolf/shepherd will miss his master but faithfully stands guard over Gail. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Trillium Health Centre, Heart Function Clinic, CCU and Oncology and to Drs. Sharma and Kanani whose wisdom gave us five more precious years. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Cremation. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Peter Joseph Glazier
Peacefully passed away in the company of his loved ones, on October 17, 2004, at the age of 69. Beloved husband for 45 years to Leona (Murphy) Glazier. Loving father to Debbie and her husband Chuck, Peter and his wife Kari-Anne. Cherished “Grampy”, “Papa” to Tiffany and Krystal. Peter will be sadly missed by his friends at Coca-Cola and his pets Koko, Fitz and Murphy. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday form 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Interment Queen of Heaven Catholic cemetery.

Robert Gilliland
( Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on December 17, 1927, Bob had returned to Toronto in 2000 after living in Los Angeles for 40 years). passed away quietly on Saturday, October 16, 2004, in his 77th year, after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by his wife Norma and son Timothy. Beloved brother of Catherine Elson (Edmonton); Norma and Vincent Baker (Toronto); Mabel and Earl Jarvis (Guelph); and William and Joy Gilliland (Toronto). Beloved uncle to ten nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705), on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service in the Chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment Glendale Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital for their care and especially the staff at Glebe Manor for their kindness with a special thanks to Charmaine Beard for her gentle, compassionate personal care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinsons Foundation would be appreciated.

Marc Julian Schaeffer
Peacefully at home on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at the age of 43. Loving husband and best friend to Helen (nee Smolej). Devoted and loving father to Stephanie and Jonathan. Dear son to Veronique and the late Matija, brother to Monica (Mario) and Denny (Barbara). He will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law Helena, his extended family, cousins, nephews, nieces and many friends. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Thursday from 3 to 5 & 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass Friday at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 739 Brown’s Line. Interment Assumption cemetery , Mississauga. Donations may be made to Dom Lipa (Slovenian Linden Foundation).

Anne Baxter (nee Tanas)
passed away peacefully on October 18, 2004 at Lakeshore Lodge Nursing Home. Her love and companionship will be greatly missed by her dearly beloved husband and best friend Frank. Cherished Mother to Carol Anne Wherry and Linda (Gary) MacLeod. Devoted and loving Gramma to Ian (Margaret-Anne) MacLeod, Roger MacLeod and Brendan (Michelle) Wherry. Great-gramma to Sam, Claire and Charlotte. Anne was born in Kitchener Ontario, but lived most of her 84 years in Long Branch. Anne touched many hearts with her sense of humour and fun, she will be remembered by all. A special thank you to the staff of 2N who cared for her so well for the last 7 years. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Alzheimers Society, War Amputations of Canada or to the charity of your choice. Emil Jachna
Peacefully with his family by his side at the Trillium Health Centre-Mississauga, on October 31, 2004 in his 79th year. Beloved husband to Zofia for 56 years. Loving father to Joe and his wife Helen, John and his wife Zofia, Zdzislaw (John) and his wife Bonnie, Sophie and her husband Bob. Cherished grandfather to Ted, Alex, Gregory, Betty, Dorothy, Ania, Daniel and Jacquelyn. A special thank you to the ICU Staff at Trillium-Mississauga Site for the excellent care provided. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6:30-9 p.m. (Prayers Wednesday at 6:45 p.m.) A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church (277 Park Lawn Rd., Etobicoke). Interment Park Lawn cemetery.

Cyril John Chavner
With his girls by his side and after a determined fight to hold on to life and all its gifts, Cy, in his 92nd year, passed away peacefully on September 1st. Dearly loved by Edna, his wife of 63 years, and by his daughters, Nancy and Janice. A welcoming father in law to Ron and Stan; a wonderful Papa to Bryony, Owen, Debbie, Shannon and Shane; great grandfather to Jessica and Melissa; step grandfather to Stuart and Stacey. The oldest of nine children, Cy also leaves behind his sisters Margaret, Jean (Ray) and brother, Jack (Betty); predeceased by sisters, Lillian, Dorothy, Gladys, Mae and Beatrice. The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to Sunrise Mississauga for providing a true home over the past three years and for their limitless support through these final days. Our particular love and thanks to all the care staff, and most of all to Mr. C’s anchor and lifeline, Sandra. Loving husband, proud father and grandfather, caring brother and loyal friend; while a man of strong conviction, he had the courage and tolerance to allow his family to become themselves, to fly free and then support them in that flight. Cy was one of a kind and a true gentleman to the end of his life. He will remain in the hearts of all who knew him; his smile will continue to light our lives. According to his wishes, a private service of remembrance and celebration will be held for family. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Charles Foote
passed away at the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga Site on Wednesday, September 1, 2004. Charlie, in his 82nd year, was the beloved father of Charles and his wife Deborah of Barrie and John of Toronto. Loving grandfather of Maeghan and Braedan of Barrie, Todd of Toronto and Glen of Ottawa. Dear brother of John "Jack" and the late William "Billy". He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Mildred May Hedges
Peacefully on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at Rideau Crest Nursing Home in her 80th year. Predeceased by her husband Harold. She will be remembered by family and friends. A special thank you to the nursing staff on the second floor at Rideau Nursing home. Mildred was a long time employee of Bell for over 30 years. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 1 p.m. Cremation.

Thomas Trimm
Peacefully at the credit valley hospital in his 85th year. Beloved husband to the late Bernice, loving father to Donna and Randy. Loving grandpa to Robert, Dianna, Lisa and Sandra. He will be sadly missed by his sister Dorothy P. Donahue. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. Marion Edith Macdonald (nee Garrett)
1905-2004
passed away peacefully on September 6th, 2004 at the Labdara Nursing Home in Etobicoke. She was predeceased in 1973 by her dear husband Edward Alexander Macdonald (Major). Loved mother to Robert Edward, Charles David and Alexander James. She is affectionately remembered as Gramie to 9 grandchildren, proud great grandmother to 15 great grand children and survived by her sister Helen Garrett. Marion will be lovingly missed by all. Raising three active boys during the war years while her husband was on active duty overseas with the Canadian Army, Mom still had time for volunteer work as the President of the Home and School at John Ross Robertson, Boy Scouts parent support group, United Church Women at St. Georges United Church and later at Kingsway Lambton United Church, The Hospital for Sick Children Women’s Auxiliary (50 year member). Her most satisfying undertaking was the initial organization and work with the Salvation Army, Harbour Light Mission on Jarvis Street. Mother was a warm and compassionate person, always available to help those less fortunate, a person of strong character and Christian principles. She was a great inspiration to her extended family. Her influence and strength of character will be missed but never forgotten. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Friday, September 10th from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Service to follow in the Chapel at 12 noon. Many thanks to the caring staff at Labdara Nursing Home in Etobicoke. A donation to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.

Elsa Borgiani
Peacefully in her 82nd year on Wednesday, September 8, 2004, Elsa, dear loving mother to Lily Barko and her husband Stefan (Bud) and Lucrezia Houston and her husband Brian. Loving grandmother to Sabrina. Predeceased by her brothers Alberto and Alfredo Rossi and survived by their families. She also leaves behind her close companion, the family dog Remy. The family wishes to thank the staff at McCall Centre for all their special care. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W.
