Lana Kay Stevens passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998 in Kamloops, B.C. after a long struggle with cancer. She was born Feb. 14, 1956 in Fort Frances, Ont.
She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Bill Lloyd, 14, and Curtiss, six; her special friend, Bruce Page, and his sons, Brandon and Byron of Kamloops, B.C.; her brother, Wendell (Jeanne) Stevens of Fort Frances; and sister, Loretta (Bob) LeBlanc of Stratton, Ont.; and nieces and nephews, Tracy, Josh and Kristina Stevens and Robin, Simone, and Selene LeBlanc.
She was predeceased by her parents, Archie and Marjorie Stevens.
Lana enjoyed her children. Her greatest wish was to watch her children grow and mature. She touched the hearts of everyone she met and knew.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 2, 1997 in the Kamloops United Church, with Rev. John Hoekstra and Rev. Don Walton officiating.
Interment followed at the Hillside cemetery in Kamloops.

JEANNETTE DAVIDSON
Jeannette Beatrice Reid Davidson (Smith), 88, of Bear's Pass, Ont., passed away in Dryden, Ont. at the home of her daughter, Jean Ramsay, on Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998.
She was born at Smith's Fisheries, Bear's Pass, Ont., on Jan. 29, 1910 to the late Seth and Celena Smith. She lived at Bear's Pass all her life right up until this year when, because of poor health, she moved to Dryden.
She worked side-by-side with her father and later with her husband, "Spike" Davidson, in the commercial fishing business. She also worked in the mink ranching industry for several years. She was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Fort Frances.
Jeannette will be sadly missed by her family, two daughters, Jean Ramsay and friend, Tom Brownlee, of Dryden, Ont., and Judy Spicer and husband, Calvin, of Fort Frances, Ont.; six grandchildren, Colleen and Mike Brosseau of Dryden, Ont., Kent Ramsay and wife, Sylvia, of Fort Frances, Ont., Patty Ramsay and friend, Darrin Ward, of Fort Frances, Bruce Ramsay and friend, Jennifer, of Grand Rapids, Mich., Greg Spicer and wife, Terri, of Fort Frances, and Brian Spicer and wife, Amy, of Fort Frances; and four great-grandchildren, Brittany and Paige Ramsay of Fort Frances, and Sierra and Colton Spicer of Fort Frances.
She also is survived by son-in-law, Dale Ramsay, of Dryden, Ont.; and two very special daughters, Anna Roulston and husband, Don, of Bear's Pass, Ont., and their children, Donna of Kenora, Darryl of Ear Falls, and Sheila and Meghan of B.C., and Sandra Lloyd of Reynolds, N.D.
These two special daughters spent many happy summers at Bear's Pass sharing Jeannette's home and love.
She was predeceased by her husband, "Spike" Davidson; her parents; one brother, Ralph T. Smith, in WWII; and one infant brother and one infant sister.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 16, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Green Funeral Chapel. Rev. Mary Whitson of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church officiated.
Pallbearers were Ed Katona, Dale Ramsay, Don Roulston, Tom Brownlee, George Emes Jr., and Lloyd McGowan.
Honourary pallbearers were Alice Emes and Merle McFayden, two lifelong friends.

Chester Huntley, 87, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 1998 at La Verendrye hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

WILLEMINA CHRISTINA LEMAIRE
Willemina Christina LeMaire, 87, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 1998 at La Verendrye General Hospital.
She was born April 14, 1910 in Batavia, Dutch East Indies to the late Frederick and Maria Brinkman.
Willemina is survived by her husband, Henri, of Fort Frances, Ont.; two daughters, Elisabeth and husband, Derek deGraff, of Winnipeg, Man., and Mary LeMaire of Rodney, Ont.; five grandchildren, Darlene and husband, Steven Felder, of London, Ont., Daryll Nowakowski of Rodney, Ont., Robert Nowakowski of London, Ont., Paul deGraff and wife, Lise, of Winnipeg, Man., and Frederick deGraff of Winnipeg, Man.; three great-grandchildren, Stéfan deGraff, Andrew Felder, and Adreanna Felder; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation will take place.

VIRGINIA JULIE WILSON
Virginia Julie Wilson, a retired teacher from Bramalea Secondary School, passed away after a short illness on Friday, Feb. 13, 1998 at Queensway General Hospital in her 75th year.
She is the loving mother of John Beaton.
She was predeceased by her parents, Emma (nee Beaton) and Harold Wilson; and brother, Raymond Wilson.
Friends called at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke, Ont. from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the Queensway Cathedral.
Private interment was held at Glendale Memorial Gardens.
Donations to the Queensway Cathedral, Seniors' Fellowship, would be appreciated.
JOHN DELANEY WOOD
John Delaney Wood passed away suddenly Jan. 30, 1998.
"Dane" was born July 22, 1984 in Rainy River, Ont. to Colin and Sharilyn Wood, and lived in Rainy River until his passing.
Dane loved all sports, winter and summer. When he wasn't doing sports, he was hunting and fishing with his dad, and also liked to go on the trapline with dad.
Dane spent many hours, and enjoyed being with, his school mates and a friend, "Don," from St. Paul, Mn. He also liked to invent things and see what made them tick. Dane was a happy-go-lucky person, and had a smile for everyone who spoke and met him.
Dane leaves to mourn his parents, Colin and Sharilyn Wood; three sisters, Lesley, Jackie, and Krista; his grandmother, Lillian Wood; great-grandmother, Mabel Gate; step-grandmother, Marlene McNally; and by a great-great uncle and godparents, John Delaney and Marjorie Byrnes.
Dane also leaves many aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles, and many, many cousins who will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Jack Wood and Norman McNally; and grandmother, Doris McNally.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998 at the Roman Catholic Church, with Rev. Wm. Giovetti of the Anglican parish officiating.
Music was by Jacquie Dufresne and soloist was Anne Defrancesco. The eulogy was given by Greg Wilson, Dane's teacher.
Pallbearers were Bill Godin, Barry Lamoureux, Dennis Kuzyk, Kirk Wood, Stewart McNally, Shane McNally, Steve McNally, and Chuck McNally.
Honourary pallbearers were Tim Caouette, Sean Hartnell, Neil Ivall, Jeff Yeo, Kelly Kuzyk, Lee Jarvis, Adam Tiboni, Yuri Ewald, Kenny Gess, Blake Mykytyn, Don Schliecher, and John Delaney Byrnes.
HAROLD ERNEST AUSTIN
Harold Ernest Austin, 82, of Emo, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998 at the Emo Hospital.
He was born May 22, 1915 in Winnipeg, Man. to the late Roy and Alice Austin. As a child, Harold moved with his family to Lash Township. There the family farmed for many years, with Harold later operating the family farm, and working as a bookkeeper.
In 1948, Harold was united in marriage to the former Emily Thompson, who passed away in April, 1974. He as united in marriage to Grace Plummer on Oct. 25, 1975.
Harold was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Manitou #631, Emo. He also was very active in the building of the new St. George’s Anglican Church, of which he was a life-long member, and attended faithfully.
Harold enjoyed his farm animals, gardening, flowers, and the outdoors. He also loved music, and supported the Rainy River District Music Festival.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Lois Austin, in 1969.
Harold is survived by his wife, Grace Austin of Emo, Ont.; one daughter, Brenda and husband, Richard Collins, and their three children of Seventy Mile House, B.C.
He also is survived by two sisters, Mary Austin of Kenora, Ont., and Sybil Mowe of Fort Frances, Ont.; and by two nephews, William Mowe and wife, Sharon, of Kenora, Ont., and Jim Mowe and wife, Cindy, and their children of Stratton, Ont.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998 at 2 p.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church in Emo. Eileen Bragg officiated, with interment in Emo cemetery.
Friends visited Friday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont.
Pallbearers were Wayne Clement, Wallace Clement, William Mowe, Jim Mowe, Paul Blais, and Roy Young.

ANNA MARIE ‘ELIZABETH’ BERGLUND
Elizabeth Berglund, 90, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 1998 at her residence.
Elizabeth was born July 17, 1907 in Virginia, Mn. to the late Carl and Anna Carlson. As a child, she moved with her parents to Fort Frances, where she attended Robert Moore School. Elizabeth attended high school in International Falls, Mn. and went on to graduate from Business School in Duluth, Mn.
On Nov. 30, 1933, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Ed Berglund, and together they settled in Fort Frances where Elizabeth was a lifelong resident. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Eastern Star, and a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
Elizabeth embraced life and enjoyed spending time with people and friends. She also enjoyed playing Bridge.
Elizabeth was a very special mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first and foremost in her life, and will be sadly missed by them.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Edwin "Ed" Berglund (Feb. 8, 1984); one brother Carl; two sisters, Ruth and Virginia; and very special people, sister-in-law, Esther and Jim Bedding.
Elizabeth is survived by her two sons, Jon Berglund and wife, Millie, of Owatonna, Mn., and Arthur Berglund and wife, Charolette, of Colorado Springs, Col.; two grandchildren, Michael Berglund and wife, Paula, of Minneapolis, Mn., and Linda and Joel Krueger of Burnsville, Mn.; four great-grandchildren, Katherine and Samuel Berglund, and Linda and Joel Krueger; one brother, Arthur Carlson and wife, Marge, of Winnipeg, Man.; one sister, Julie Ann Freeberg of Longview, Wash.; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends; and neighbour, Ute and Mike Bauwens of Fort Frances, Ont.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances. Pastor Brian Keffer will officiate, with interment in Fort Frances cemetery.
