Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, with his family at his side, on Sunday, April 23rd, 2006 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Barbara Lola. Loving father of David (Pauline), Reed (Sharon) and Lindsay. Cherished grandfather of Sarah Lynn. Dear brother of Janet Ostrander (the late Howard), Anne MacGougan (James) and the late Margaret Baker (the late Dalton). He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and especially his niece Judith MacIntyre and his god-daughter Kelley Thomas. passed away peacefully at the Ottawa General Hospital, Monday, April 10th, 2006 at the age of 83. Loving husband of Yvonne (nee Pinsonnault). Loving father of Ellen (Peter McAuslan) and Nancy (Douglas MacDonell). Cherished grandfather of Chelsea and Chloe. Dear brother of Ruth Parmelee (Jack). Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Alec was a hard working Chartered Accountant for over 56 years. He will be sadly missed this tax season and on the golf course. A special heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Dialysis Unit at the Ottawa General Hospital. The family would also like to thank the many doctors and nurses on the 7th Floor Northwest for all their exceptional care and support. Peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 in his 96th year, surrounded by the love of God. Loving husband of the late Edna Sherwood and beloved father of Hazel. Survived by his three sisters Alma Brownlee, Luella Bailey, Grace Francis (Fred) and many nieces and nephews. Loved son of the late Rev. and Mrs. C.F. Bowen and brother of the late Carman Bowen and Ruby Caswell-Dickson. Gen ret'd, MD July 31, 1921 to April 20, 2006 In hospital on Thursday, April 20, 2006. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Frances. He is survived by his children Tom (Marilyn), Pat (Susan) Mike (Donna) and Susan (Brian MacLean); his grandchildren Michael, Morgan, Aaron, Mark, Amy (Chris MacQuarrie), Graham and Michelle, and his great-grandchildren Zachary, Olivia, and Taryn. Born in Dryden, Ontario, and at the age of 19, in 1940, joined the RAF. As a pilot in WWII he served in England, Malta, North Africa and Italy. On his return from WWII he entered medical school at the University of Toronto, then transferred to the army and served in the Korean War as a doctor. In 1964 he received his specialty in anesthesiology. He was a career military man who held positions in Whitehorse, Winnipeg, Pensacola, Toronto, Halifax and Ottawa. He retired as a Brigadier General and his final posting was Commandant of the National Defence Medical Centre in Ottawa where he retired in 1977. He continued his career with the Department of Veterans Affairs for several years. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church, 2345 Alta Vista Drive on Monday, April 24, 2006, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
