Lorna Wilson
Wilson, Lorna - Lorna Wilson is my mother. She passed away on Saturday October 22nd, 2016 at the age of 89. My mother was a loving, kind and steadfast person who more than anyone or anything else loved my father and I. Over the years she and I both struggled with her gradual decline from Alzheimer's. We were both losing a person we knew and loved and neither of us had been through this journey before. I suppose with many who grow up over time, I realized on this journey that the reasons why I resisted my mom were not because we were so different but because we were so much the same. Her losses, in so many ways provoked both a heightened awareness of who I am but also who I was losing - and part of that was myself. So here I am, without my mom. I am grateful to her for the example she gave me of grace under pressure and I am grateful that as I saw her lose so much, the spirit that was left burned brighter. To the end, she showed appreciation to those who cared for her and to me she always left me with the words "I love you, you're wonderful".
My mom came from a large family and is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Donald and Phylis Cameron, her sister Esther Andreas and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada. Cremation has taken place through the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Georgetown. A memorial celebration will be held at a future date.
