Peacefully in God s Loving Arms, Mary Raymond (Shaw) in her 95th year, beloved wife of the late George Albert Raymond and survived by her husband Arthur Shaw. Dear and loving mother to daughter Joan Echlin and sons Peter (Eileen), Richard (Ilona) and Jimmy (Charlene). Dearest Grandmother to Stephen, Bruce, Mary Lou, Debbie, Laurie, Jamie, Jonas, Justin, Andrea, Jonathan, Stephanie and Great-Grandmother of 12. Joan Riley-Clarke - 05/17/2006
A lively mix of curiosity, kindness and strong opinion, Joan was born in Grand Falls, N.B in 1916 and died May 16 after a brief illness, a full life, and only a few years of decline. She trained as a nurse in Sussex, N.B., then worked in a hospital in Yonkers, N.Y. When Pearl Harbour was bombed she returned home to join the Canadian army nursing corps and set sail for South Africa where she cared for soldiers injured in the war. She married Art Riley of Ottawa in 1946 and raised their two children at home until he died suddenly, in 1962. Widowed with two dependents, Joan returned to school for a diploma in public health nursing and spent several years as Nurse Riley at Woodroffe High School. After retiring, she met Stewart Clarke on holiday in Portugal and they married in 1985. For almost twenty years, they enjoyed travel, friends and family. Joan is survived by her husband Stewart, her daughter Susan Riley (Laura McNairn); her son Ted (Margaret Riley); and grandchildren D Arcy, Luke, Brannan, James and William. Also by her sister, Lois Ross, brother Arnold Burgess and nieces, nephews and many friends. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Friday from 4 to 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. George s Roman Catholic Church, 415 Picadilly Avenue on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 11am. In lieu of flowers donations to TVO, or any charity, would be appreciated. We acknowledge with great affection, Annette as a sister, a sister-in-law, an aunt and as a sincere and faithful friend. Annette touched many people by unconditional love and her prayers. For many years she cared for Camille with great devotion. At the Hospice at May Court on Tuesday, May 9th, 2006, William Gilbert Tremblay, age 72. Dearly loved husband of Beverley (Hall) and much loved and respected father of Deborah (Bernard) York and Rodney (Lynn). He cherished and was so proud of his grandchildren, Christopher and Charles York and Matthew and Shane Tremblay. Bill is survived by his sister Louisa Thorne, brothers Stuart (Therese), Rod (Jackie), Jim (Pat), Wes (Phyllis), Herv (Bev), brothers-in-law Arnold Hall (Norma), Charles F. Kerr and many nieces and nephews. His sister Phillis Kerr predeceased him in 1984. Bill's kind heart, caring manner, love of his family, church and friends will be forever missed.
