Nelson Henry Draper passed away peacefully at the General Hospital on Friday, February 7th, 2003 after a visit with his family of reminiscing and laughter. Beloved only son of the late Ethel and Wesley Draper of Thessalon. Loving partner of many years of Verlie (Roy) Draper. Nelson was the loving father of daughter Sheree Ball, daughter Terri Draper and son Glenn Draper. Papa of Rachelle Ball and "Special Paps" to Justin Draper. Great grandfather of Raya Ball. Brother of Jean Woods (Norm) Elora, Ontario and the late Blanche Martin (Charles) and Bessie Davis. Nelson will be remembered with loving thoughts by his niece Dora Pavlishek (Chuck). He is survived by many nephews. Rommel his loving dog will miss his cookies and hugs. Special thanks to Dr. P. Bragaglia and Dr. G. Berg and the "caring angels" of 100Y for giving us these extra three years with Nelson. A private service was held at Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, February 12 at 11:00 am. with Nelson?s immediate family attending the service. PETERS, Mrs. Velma Grace - passed away at Sault Area Hospitals on Sunday, February 9, 2003 in her 84th year. Velma, beloved wife of the late Percy Peters; dear daughter of the late Leah and Edward Sampson; loving mother of Shirley Mills (Ken) of Wawa. and Patricia Sweeney (John) of Sault Ste. Marie, and the late Treone Wilkinson and Loana Viscount; sister of the late Patricia Montgomery (Art), late Rory Sampson (Doris), survived by her sisters Edna Lafrenier of Sudbury (late Isaac), Eileen Champagne of North Bay (late Jimmy), and Lyn Haapala of Sudbury. She will also be sadly missed by her many cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Velma was a proud cook aboard Great Lake Ore Carriers and Canada Steamships. SAMSON CD, Roy Albin (Major) - passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2003 at the Leamington District Hospital. Born June 29, 1917 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Predeceased by wife Ruth (Bill) in 1995 after 46 years of marriage. Dear father of Capel and husband Wendall Campbell, Odessa, Texas; Jim Samson and wife Diane, Leamington; Jane Samson, Newmarket; Susan and husband Greg Seemann, Newmarket. Dear grandfather of Chris, John, Jason, Daniel and Lindsay. Former owner of Samson Construction Limited in Sault Ste. Marie. Served in WWII from 1939 to 1945 with 4th Field Ambulance and Queens Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, Winnipeg. Continued service with the 49th Regiment R.C.A. in Sault Ste. Marie until 1952. Was an active Rotarian for 50 years with Sault Ste. Marie Rotary Club and with Leamington Rotary Club. In 1981 served as Leamington Rotary Club President. Was loved by many people for his kindness and generosity. Many thanks to the staff of Erie Glen Manor and Leamington Hospital for the compassionate care given to our father. Private family service to be held Tuesday, February 11, 2003 from St. John's Anglican Church, Leamington, with Rev. Stephen Haig officiating. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie.
