HOUSTON, Mary Clara Isabella (nee Whent)
Tuesday, December 28, 2004

Of White River, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend passed on December 22, 2004 in Thunder Bay. Born in Chapleau May 30, 1918, she was 86 years old. Mary was predeceased by dear husband Dr. W.G. (Bill) Houston, and grand parents Daniel & Emma Whent who raised her. She is also predeceased by her brothers Mervin (Blue) & Vera, Frank & Edith and Hilton (Dick) & Vera and brother-in-law Wes Bardy as well as her parents Martin & Mary Whent. She is survived by her four sons Daniel, James & Linda of Thunder Bay, Gordon of White River and William & Lori of Reno Nevada; grandchildren Marty, Anne-Marie, Ian, Daniel and Katy; and great grandchildren Tristian and Taelor. She is also survived by her sister Juanita Bardy of Deseronto and sister-in-law Peggy Gillespie of Thunder Bay. She is also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces. A life long member of the community of White River, Mary will be remembered for her loving kindness, her spirit, her love of life and especially her love of family and friends. Many will cherish her book "A pictorial history of White River" which she authored and published for the town's centennial. We know she goes to a good place and will be watching over us all. God Bless her wonderful spirit. A memorial service will be held in White River in the spring. If friends so desire, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, All Saints Church of White River or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

passed away suddenly at his residence on Friday, December 24, 2004, at the age of 78 years. Mike, beloved husband and friend of Lena. Dear father of Wanda (Lorne Bond). Dearest grandfather of Michael and Cory. Mike will be sadly missed by his extended family, Roy and Helen Annau, and their daughters Shani, Maya, and Tamar, of Israel. Mike is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, and many other relatives in Poland and Australia. Predeceased by his brothers-in-law Harry, Andrew, Tony, and his sisters-in-law Mary, Annie, and Fanny. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Monica's Church, Wawa, on Friday, December 31, 2004, at 11:00 A.M. For those who wish donations to the Lady Dunn Health Centre would be appreciated by the family. (Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Gilmartin Funeral Home, Wawa)

Beloved husband and best friend of Judy (Cerenzia) Munro. Tom enjoyed and celebrated his life with many family and friends in the beautiful natural surroundings of northern exposure, his summer retreat. The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it. Judy and Gerry wish to announce the passing of their father, Edward Potoczny on December 25, 2004 in his 92nd year. From our introductory statement his spirit will live on with us and his grandchildren; Michael, Stefan, Ryan, Meaghan and Alana. He has left us to go and meet again with his wife Anne, with whom he shared over 60 years of joyful and loving marriage. He is survived by his sister, Sophie Roy and two brothers, Ted and Walter (Mary). He will be missed by his church community in which he actively participated and by his friends and neighbours who have been extremely kind to him over the years. Friends and neighbours may call at O'Sullivan Donnelly Funeral Home, corner of Cathcart and St. James Streets Tuesday, December 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Joseph The Worker Church, Arden Street on Wednesday December 29 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Peacefully at Algoma Manor, Thessalon on Friday, December 24, 2004. Bill Smith of Thessalon in his 94th year, husband of the late Elsie Smith. Loving father of Sallie (Milt) Showan of Spanish. Devoted grandfather of Todd (Cherie) Showan of Thessalon and Brooke (Derek) Allen of McKinney, Texas and great grandfather to William and Ty Showan and Alexis Allen. Bill and Elsie operated the Outpost Lodge north of Thessalon from 1959 to 1972. Resting at the Beggs Funeral Home Thessalon where friends may call on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 from 7:15 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service in the chapel on Wednesday, December 29 at 10:00 o'clock. Spring interment in Pine Grove Cemetery. Donations to the Masonic Foundation of Ontario or the charity of your choice gratefully accepted. Special thanks to the staff of Algoma Manor and the Thessalon Hospital for the excellent care that Bill received. The family would also like to express their gratitude for the camaraderie and friendship that Bill experienced at the Livingstone Creek Golf Course. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Raffaela Stumpo. Loving father of Carmela Stancati (Ralph), Frank Stumpo (Maryanna), Marisa Martin (Kevin) and the late Mario Stumpo. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Robert and Anthony Stancati, Michael, Melissa and Mark Stumpo, Jessica and Jennifer Martin. Beloved son of the late Pasquale and Carmela Stumpo and dear brother of Palmo of Italy and the late Serafino, Michele, Teresina, Rosaria, Francesco, Giuseppe and Carmine. Brother-in-law of Frank Guzzo of Sudbury, Rose Garofalo of Niagara Falls and the late Vincenzo and Gasper Guzzo. With family by his side on Sunday, December 26, 2004 from the Plummer Hospital at the age of 90. Loving husband of Muriel. Cherished step-father of Donald (Eva) King and Douglas King. Beloved grandfather of Michelle Rosso (Pat) and great grandfather of Derek and Joseph Rosso. Brother of Ida Thompson (late Albert). Armand is predeceased by his brother Valmore (Verna) (late Pearl) Cantin, sister Margaret Hutchinson (late George) and the late Irene Cantin. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Armand served his country through the infantry division (B56726) in World War II. At Armand’s request there will be no visitation. Memorial Mass from Precious Blood Cathedral on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at 11am. Monsignor Burns officiating. Interment at a later date.
