She met her husband-to-be when he came to fix a washing machine at Hickory Lodge. She married Edward Francis Huck three years later, January 14, 1929, in Gananoque.
The couple moved to Montreal in 1933 when Mr. Huck went to work for George F. Benson, operator of Cardinal Starch, at his winter home. They returned to the area in the summer to look after Benson's summer home and boats and chauffeur the family.

That year, the lodge attracted guests from across Canada, Germany, Japan, Israel, across the eastern seaboard states and Florida. Her family says she made lasting friends from all over the world.
"I've enjoyed every minute of it - I still do!" Mrs. Huck told reporter Betty MacDowell. "People ask me why I keep on with the business - why don't I retire and take it easy - but why should I? I love what I'm doing and I'd be lost without it.
"People keep coming back and bringing other people."

Mrs. Huck was a former member of the Eastern Star and Lansdowne Rebekah Lodge and identified with the United Church. She enjoyed cooking, travelling to Florida, spending time at the cottage and life on the St. Lawrence River in general.
