Ruby Tackaberry, 95, died October 5, 2002 at Maple View Lodge, Athens, after a brief illness.
She was born Rubena Mildred Mustard on March 17, 1907, the daughter of Pockrage Mustard and the former Harriet Sweet. She was raised and educated in the Lyndhurst area.
On September 28, 1927, she married Ernest Tackaberry and they farmed for 24 years at Sweets Corners. Later, in 1951, they moved to their dairy farm north of Brockville on the Sixth Concession in Elizabethtown.
On retiring from farming, they moved to their home on Highway 29 (now County Road 29), where she remained until 1994, when she sold the home and moved to Valley View Court in Athens and later to Maple View Lodge.
Mrs. Tackaberry was a loyal member of Manhard United Church for more than 50 years.
She had a long life of loving and caring for family and friends, as well as a lot of hard work as a farmer's wife. She especially enjoyed gardening, quilting and knitting afghans. She took special pleasure from visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by sons William and wife Florence of RR 3, Bath, Gerald and wife Ann of RR 2, Addison, Blaine and wife Bonnie of RR 4, Athens; daughter Helen Weldon and husband Ken of Brockville and daughter-in-law Muriel of RR 5, Brockville.
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one sister, Grace Kirkland and husband Eldon, of Portland, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Robert, and a brother, Gyles Mustard.
Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville, where on October 9 the funeral was held, with Linda Winton, of Manhard United Church, officiating. During the service, Shawna Tackaberry gave a tribute to her grandmother. Burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland.
The pallbearers were all granddaughters. The active pallbearers were Susan Birtch, Lynn Fletcher, Sharon Hodgkinson, Shawna Tackaberry, Karen Wright and Lisa Tackaberry. The honorary pallbearers were Debbie Hickey, Teresa Perkins and Kim Tackaberry.
Memorial donations to Manhard United Church, Maple View Lodge and other charities were gratefully acknowledged by the family.
Maude Herron, 94
Maude Llewella Herron, 94, died August 29, 2002 at Brockville General Hospital. She had been in failing health since January 2002.
Born in Campbellford, Ont., on October 30, 1907, she was the daughter of Harry Bloomfield Stanford and the former Alice Maude Parr. In 1912 her family moved to Brockville and she attended school.
She married Harold Frederick Herron in Ogdensburg, N.Y., and became a housewife and mother of one.
Over the years, she lived in Guelph and Montreal, as well as Brockville, where she was living before her death.
She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church. She enjoyed being with her family and friends. She loved to knit and for many years made knitted baby outfits and booties for the Brockville General Hospital.
Mrs. Herron is survived by her son Harold "Bug" Herron and wife Betty (nee Imeson); sister Jocelyn Runciman; and grandson Shawn Herron and wife Kathleen (nee Gauthier).
She was predeceased by her husband Harold Herron and four brothers, George, Charlie, Harold and Kitchener Stanford, and sister Helen.
Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville, where on September 2 the funeral was held, with Rev. Ron Horst officiating. Private burial was on September 3 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland.
Memorial donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and the Brockville General Hospital Foundation were gratefully acknowledged by the family.
Bob MacIntosh, 67
Robert Harold MacIntosh, a retired DuPont engineer who divided his time between Brockville and Charleston Lake, died November 11, 2002 at Brockville General Hospital. He was 67.
The Park Street resident was born October 5, 1935, at Bathurst, New Brunswick to Harold J. MacIntosh and M. Olive MacNeish. He was raised and educated in Bathurst and attended the University of New Brunswick, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering.
Mr. MacIntosh came to Brockville after graduating from university in 1960. He worked in the engineering and power groups at DuPont Canada, Maitland, and had been retired for nine years.
He spent his winters in Brockville and summers at his cottage on Charleston Lake.
Mr. MacIntosh was active in the Thursday night five-pin bowling league and little league baseball during his early years in Brockville. He enjoyed cottage life, boating on Charleston Lake, and was an avid CB and ham radio operator.
He was affiliated with the United Church and a member of the Salem Lodge.
Mr. MacIntosh is survived by several cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Vivian Robb of Toronto.
The funeral was November 15 at the Barclay Funeral Home. Interment will follow at a later date at the West Bathurst Cemetery in Bathurst, New Brunswick.

Hubert Belanger, 78
Hubert Louis Belanger, 78, died November 7, 2002 at Kingston General Hospital. He had had a stroke three weeks before.
Born December 17, 1923 in Chesterville, he was the son of Moise Belanger and the former Josephine Paul. He was raised and educated in the Chesterville/Winchester area.
He enlisted in the Canadian army during the Second World War, serving from January 1942 to March 1946. After the war he came to live in Brockville.
He married Audrey Helena Irving on November 26, 1946 in St. Francis Xavier Church, Brockville.
He was employed at DuPont Canada Inc.-Maitland Site as a member of the cafeteria staff until his retirement in October 1978.
His interests included watching hockey, going to casinos, driving in the country, going for walks, cooking and baking, and finding good places to go out to eat.
He is survived by five sons, Edward of Calgary, Francis of Burlington, Robert of Brockville, John of Surrey, B.C., and Michael of Brockville; two daughters, Mary Ann Willis and Theresa Smith, both of Brockville; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Also surviving are his half-brother Wilfred Belanger of Williamsburg and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Audrey after 54 years of marriage; seven Belanger half-brothers, Leon, Eugene, Edmund, Victor, William, Elmer and Napoleon; four Paul half-brothers, Joe, Napoleon, Rene and Clarence; and three Paul half-sisters, Florence, Clarisse and Mary.
Friends called at the Irvine Funeral Home, Brockville, on November 9 and 10. The funeral was held November 11 in St. Francis Xavier Church, Brockville, with Father John Hibbard and Father Julius Nwagbara officiating. Burial followed at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Brockville.
The pallbearers were Francis, Robert, Michael, Christopher and Rob Belanger and Michael Willis. The honorary bearers were Michelle Spencer, Andrew, Lesley and Joanne Belanger, and Jennifer and Stewart Smith.
Memorial donations were directed to the Hospice of Providence Palliative Care and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Bob Lake, 68
Robert F. "Bob" Lake, 68, who was retired from the military, died October 19, 2002 at his Brockville home after a one-year illness with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born January 1, 1934, in Newboro to William Perry Lake and the former Caroline Gommer. He was raised and educated in Portland and married Barbara Hope on August 31, 1955, in Smiths Falls.
He served in the Canadian Army (Royal Canadian Army Service Corps) for 21 years, including years in Korea and Germany. After retiring from the army, he was a member of the Corps of Commissionaires for another 21 years. He retired from that work eight years ago.
Over the years, he lived in Smiths Falls, Kingston, Picton and Barrie in Ontario; Soest, Germany; Dawson Creek, B.C.; and Moose Jaw, Sask.
He identified with the United Church and enjoyed playing, coaching and officiating at sporting events, especially official hockey and softball.
Mr. Lake is survived by his wife Barbara, sons Kenneth of Brockville and David of Prince Rupert, B.C., and four grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Hilda Gray of Picton and Roberta Bellefeuille and Harriette Peterson, both of Smiths Falls, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Clarke, Bill and Leo Lake, and two sisters, Annie Merlino and Betty Baker.
Friends called at the Irvine Funeral Home, Brockville, where on October 21 the funeral was held, with Rev. Myra Garvin of St. John's United Church, Brockville, officiating. Cremation followed and burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery in Smiths Falls on November 4.
The pallbearers were Adam Lake, Tobias Bushey, Richard Bennett and Don, bob and John Lackey. The honorary pallbearers were Bill Halfpenny and Bill Butt.
Memorial donations were directed to the Lung Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
